Tonight wasn't exactly going to plan, but what else was new? Not that he'd had extensive plans for that night or that he was at all disappointed in how it was turning out. He had a brief embarrassment but things were far from regrettable. "Maybe I wanna do more than make out." It was only intended to be provocation, but in hindsight it made him sound overtly horny and he was fully aware that he would be deserving of any teasing that followed.

Yet how else was he possibly supposed to respond with Enzo's mouth planting kisses down his neck? Not innocently, at least. Enzo's return to his life had woken up... needs that he hadn't realized existed in him, a long with a lot of annoying qualities. What he was not expecting was for the other to stand up, taking him with him. With a sharp breath, his arms hung around the other's shoulders, steadying himself. "Warn me next time, will you?" He scoffed, but it devolved into a breathy laugh.

"Down the hall, last door on the left— my left." He corrected himself, pressing a nip to the other's neckline to stifle another laugh before returning to his mouth. He probably should have also warned him to watch his feet because this place had a knack for tripping him up, but he'd cleaned up most of Miu's toys.

Blindly, he reached to the side as they made it through the door to his room, and promptly shut the door behind them. It was more out of habit than need though, considering the house was empty besides them.

Jealousy. He was jealous, wasn't he? No, no way. That felt too much like he was unwittingly playing into Enzo's game. That was exactly what he wanted of Kosei, to over-react and act out impulsively. Kosei had never thought himself an inherently jealous person, he'd never had reason to. Though, maybe with Enzo, that wasn't always true. He'd always felt stupidly possessive of their partnership, insecure that at any moment it could end the second that Enzo found someone better.

It wasn't so fragile as it had been when he was younger, but he could still feel it simmering under the surface as he watched this persistent buzzard follow Enzo around. Now, if he was thinking clearly, he would have recognized exasperation for what it was. Enzo didn't want anything to do with her or any of the people in the crowd.

Kosei wasn't the sharp-tongue type. He didn't snipe insults through his teeth or play games. He preferred intimidation through silence, even if that rarely worked. He could simmer in his upset, hold it all in and let himself bake a little. As with most things, he attempted to maintain a measure of control over volatile feelings. Yet, he wasn't feeling particularly good at containment tonight. When had this irritation boiled up?

"Irritating." He said despite his best intention not to feed into the negative feelings blooming under the surface. It was obviously nothing short of delightful for Enzo, that much he could guarantee. There was nothing else the other seemed to enjoy as much as seeing Kosei lose control.

They weren't allowed to display affection and maybe therein lied his base irritation while this woman giggled over his words and followed him like a love-sick puppy. Never before would he feel like his affection might be perceived negatively, thus he felt annoyingly insecure about it. And also greedy.

Despite the rules, his hand slipped across the flat expanse of the other's lower back, fingers digging in to the other's hip. A gesture that felt ridiculously like he was saying mine. Maybe he was. Maybe this was the stupid caveman part of his brain claiming territory like it was actually at risk. "I don't know, you could tell her to go away, but since you won't, I will." He looked at her in a way that demand her eyes on him. Her stupid expression fell flat. "Three's a crowd, get lost."

He'd probably feel a bit bad after the fact, considering he wasn't trying to be this person anymore. It felt like an affront to all of his efforts to evolve, and yet... it also felt good.

Kosei couldn't maintain the pout then, breaking the expression on a stifled laugh. "Yeah well... I guess she got some things from me." Besides looking exactly like him in small girl form. Mio cucciolo, those words had no right making him feel
some kind of way. It was foreign and soft and warm. Not to mention entirely disarming. He felt like he was constantly racing to catch up with the other, until he was breathless with the effort.

Enzo had that effect on him, throwing down all of his guards. Before he'd met the other, he'd been nothing short of bottled up. All of his emotions caught like a caged bird. Of course, at the time, it had been fodder for the other to tease him over and it had frustrated him to no end, but it still cracked the walls he'd built up nonetheless.

Normal, as if they had any right to claim normality for either of them. There was nothing normal about their relationship, but that was okay with him. Kosei rolled his eyes then, though he'd be lying to say there wasn't a sliver of uncertainty. Maybe he was wrong to attempt conversation like they were normal. Especially since his instincts weren't to ask the other about the weather. It was still, annoying to him that Enzo could so frequently and easily provoke tender-throated feelings that made him feel vulnerable. Yet, simultaneously, it was what he wanted. "Well, Miu desperately wants to know your favorite color, if you prefer to answer that."

He paused, head tilted as the other responded. "Wastefulness?" Maybe Enzo was struggling with the shape he was having to grow into, Kosei could understand that. Though the other made it seem so easy, so natural.

What he had not anticipated was the words that followed. His throat felt sore as he swallowed, looking down at the table. A weird combination that could only be regret and yet, at the same time, he was pleased that he could be a source of change for the other. He made him happier?

And then the question was flipped around and given to him. He hated that. He snorted, taking another drink. "I liked it better when you were the one having to answer this question." But that wasn't fair, he knew that. It was simply not an easy question to answer. "I'm.... Yeah, I mean..." he scoffed with an edge of soft exasperation. "Miu makes me happy, even with her chaos. She makes me a better man than I was before." Not really the question, exactly. "I guess I'm still trying to figure things out. Ten years later I'm still... figuring it out."

He shrugged at that, playing off the next few words though not entirely able to hide the smile, "You make me happier though... for some reason."

In hindsight, maybe a brewery wasn't the best setting for their date, as neither of them were big beer drinkers. He snorted as Enzo proceeded to order top-shelf liquor. It made sense though, of course, in that strange Enzo way. The other had worked so hard to get to somewhere. There was a question brewing in his mind, but he didn't know how to ask it.

It wasn't like he was apprehensive with his old partner in crime turned... something more, it was simply that things mattered now when they didn't before. Despite all his best efforts to the contrary, Kosei still prided perfection. It was simply who he'd always been, the difference now was that reality was brutal and messy and the best teacher of insanity is a little girl that is nothing like him.

He was about to answer when his drink was snatched away. "I don't know, it's just a beer. Kinda all taste the same to me, honestly." As it was handed back, he snatched it as delicately as possible to prevent it from sloshing while still making his point. "Are you bored with me already?" He pouted, attempting a look of hurt as best he could. Enzo was worse than his 6-year-old decidedly.

"Well for now you know we could talk, like normal people do." He shrugged, an added little sigh because maybe they were meant for this casual "dating" thing. It certainly wasn't easy or first nature for either of them. "Are you happy? With all the... I don't know, you worked so hard to get to this point, is it everything you hoped it would be?" The question had grown like an awkward weed and it was uttered with the same adolescent awkwardness.

After the second call with the sitter, he decided it was best if he put the phone away. This was not a night about worrying about whether or not he left thorough instructions about which bedtime story Miu needed to go to bed properly. She was ultimately going to be hell to deal with for the sitter regardless and pass out at exactly the breaking point. At least, this is how she regularly treated his sanity, like a dog with a chew toy.

Kosei had gone on very little dates in his lifetime, even with Miu's mother, they had been awkward affairs that resulted in either fighting or sex so that they could skip the obvious fact they hated one another. Healthy relationships wasn't exactly something that Kosei was well trained on understanding or wanting. His relationship with vincenzo de luca probably wasn't considered "healthy" per say, but they were making a good go of it.

At least, they were trying. Though, Kosei was also an unhealthy skeptic and was prone to questioning the legitimacy of things. It meant a lot to him that they could just have this date. That they could sit down and talk and not end up fighting or solving issues by jumping one another's bones. That was the definition of a healthy relationship, right? Maybe he needed a dictionary to be sure.

Verdanturf was a good place outside of the boundaries of their comfort. Enzo couldn't worry about work and he couldn't worry about his kid. It was too far to just race home and check on her. Thus, they had no excuses. Winter's kiss was the drink they kept offering him and, lacking imagination, he decided to go with it, without even knowing what was in the damn thing. It was sweet, but it was a beer so... he wasn't going to get drunk that easily, right?

Long strands of hair flowed through the water, curving around the other man's face in a way that seemed entirely too elegant for the other. Enzo was trash, but he was capable and unfortunately, he was also attractive trash. Try as he might, Kosei couldn't help but notice the way sleepy eyes opened to look at him (fucking tired bedroom eyes if ever he'd seen them). Or the way droplets cascaded across muscle. Maybe he was losing his mind slowly and was pent up, because it definitely wasn't in response to his partner.

He waded a moment longer as the other left before following, trying to get the image out of his brain though it was a persistent one. He'd been so stupid about it that he hadn't even objected or nagged the other's comments about him. They had been, admittedly, on point. Maybe he wasn't so hard to comprehend as he'd hoped. With a heavy sigh, he forced himself out of the water and recovered his towel.

Well... they had given up on the job for the day so he didn't have any legitimate reason not to follow along. Even if it would've been easier to go back to the room or sit in the bath until he wrinkled up like an old raisin. "Let's just... get this over with." He muttered, mostly to himself as he dressed again. "Lead the way."

Kosei didn't necessarily enjoy behaving as he did, of course not. However, it was difficult to let loose after years of insistence from his parents that he had to lead by example. He was supposed to be the person they wanted him to be, it didn't matter what he wanted. For the most part, he listened to this without question. It felt like an injustice not to. Kosei didn't enjoy it, but he disliked the idea of letting people down even more.

The other laughed at him and Kosei barely managed to suppress the scowl, only further disproving how little he supposedly cared. "I'm not lying to myself. God, you're so fucking annoying." He shook his head, hating how easily the other could rile him up. Clearly, that was the end goal. Enzo wanted him pissed off and fuming, easier to manipulate because of un-tempered emotions.

"Stop acting like you know me, you don't." There was always a lot of assumptions about him, always had been. In a school this isolated, there was gossip, of course. Rumors did very little justice to the victims associated to them, but mostly Kosei hated how close to reality his own were. Yet, simultaneously, people liked fitting him into a bubble, a good ol stereotyped bubble. Yet, in reality, there was very little to refute about his own.

Kosei looked down at the glass offered and then back up at the other, expression furrowed into an unimpressed frown. A lot of military families drank. His father kept a bottle of scotch or whiskey in the cabinet of his office for social calls, but he never drank it himself. His parents didn't believe in anything that could tamper the mind. Not that Kosei had never tried it before, in secret, it just wasn't very good. Yet still, he took the drink with an eyeroll. "Fine." He tipped the drink back and sipped. Now, it wasn't as bad as the whiskey his dad kept. It was sappy sweet apple flavor, but then followed the fire. He couldn't help but cringe at it. Too much at once, he coughed. "There. Happy?"

Kosei was aware he could be a bit of a pain in the ass. A challenge, was probably a bit of an understatement in regards to him. Yet, admittedly, Enzo had always made him softer. As if that wasn't obvious in the way he'd let go of so many of his unspoken rules for the other man throughout history. One by one, he fell against his own boundaries like a row of toppled dominos. All because this bastard knew exactly what to say, the stupid cocky way he smiled, and the dumb nicknames. Kosei was a goner, most of the time.

Not to say it was always easy for him to give away to pressure. It felt good though. Enzo seemed to know all the pressure points that inevitably made him give into them. We have all the time in the world, what a sentiment that was. Did Enzo even realize the relief those words caused? Probably not. Or maybe he did, the other could always seem to read him so easily.

Any attempt to slow them felt arbitrary to his actual wants, which Enzo seemed hellbent on riling up. Leave it to the other to turn the heat from simmer to boil without warning. Hands grasped at his hips, impressions digging into his skin. A part of him hoped there would be little bruises to remember him by. Maybe that was wrong, but they'd never been right either. Not entirely, but that was okay by him.

His own breath dragged, hissing on an edge of need that he hadn't realized he'd likely been feeling all along. His skin shivered as fingers tangled in his hair, as teeth tugged at his lip, and that sound rumbled under the surface. "We should," He breathed between heady kisses, "Move this to the other room, yeah?" He wasn't in a rush though, nope.

Street rat or not, Enzo knew what he was doing. He'd gone a long way to get the things in his life and Kosei would never fault him for that. Even if he didn't always agree with the methods. Kosei didn't have the same ambitions, especially not post-Miu. Any thoughts of attempting anything had halted, though not in a strained or begrudging way. It just put things into perspective. He had a whole living human being to care for and the successes and tribulations that came with that. He wasn't always proud of it, but hey she was still alive and functioning so he must not be that bad, right?

Kosei had never shared Enzo's capability to entertain a crowd. Maybe he was boring...? Enzo would certainly attest to that. There was something about conversation he'd never been able to grasp, but the fact he was stunted wasn't exactly a huge surprise to anyone. It had taken a lot of time and effort to be okay with his actions, to not immediately condemn his attempts to be a normal person. He didn't need to be someone important or powerful, but it felt like an excuse to sweep his failures under a rug and forget about them.

You're thinking too much, the words were spoken in Enzo's wry tone. He sipped at his glass of champagne with an irritated grumble because even his own thoughts were betraying him now. Maybe because he had nothing else to do but watch Enzo kiss ass and flirt with this relentless woman and that was beyond irritating. Jealousy didn't look good on him, in his opinion, but he'd become increasingly aware that it was unexpectedly natural all the same.

"Enzo, you have a tenacious stalker." He said, his smile towards said stalker wasn't remotely kind.

"Suppose you'll just have to figure that out the hard way." He chuckled at that, not exactly a threatening force as he was draped over him. Still, he couldn't help but note the way the other man's neck was exposed. Such a strangely primal and vulnerable movement, but he noticed all the same. He wanted nothing more than to nip and kiss his way up the curve of his throat.

Kosei shivered as fingers slipped beneath the hem of his shirt, gliding over skin. "I have no idea what you mean." He said, humming into the other's ear and glancing aside to pick the other apart with his eyes. In truth, he wasn't entirely certain what the other was inferring but couldn't deny there was plenty for the other to be referring to.

Even then, he was relaxed. Though he was curious what was going on inside that head. Enzo had somehow grown more discreet over the years, harder to read while he himself felt exposed and obvious. Apparently not though, considering he'd only managed to confuse and conflict them thus far. He didn't speak as the other man's thumb brushed across his lip. Only moving to bite down on it the second it was devoid of contact. "It's funny, I've always felt as if I've only ever belonged to you, even when I was gone. It was annoying. Maybe I'm easy to buy though."

Hands planted rough on his hips, making his breath sharpen and spike of need crash down his spine. They always felt so messy and yet, it was addicting. Their mouths crashed together. His hand released its hold on the other's collar, falling into place on the side of Enzo's face. He forced himself to slow down a little, not really wanting a rushed repeat of last time.

Admitting anything to Enzo seemed like a bad idea, even something as obvious as the fact he didn't go out of his way to relax. Kosei rolled his eyes, realizing it had done nothing but make him feel vulnerable to whatever insult followed. Though, he was a little surprised to find the insult that did, wasn't much of one. In fact, it seemed more like advice. Obvious, useless advice, but advice nonetheless.

He glanced over at him, the simple ease of his expression. All of it seemed to come so naturally to the other, even if it shouldn't. They were two entirely different people though. Their lives weren't meant to make sense to one another and that was okay.

Rather than say in anything in turn, he simply closed his eyes and decided to take what was offered to him. Maybe it wasn't so bad after all. This was why he left, wasn't it? To figure things out.

He opened his eyes to the feeling of his fingers pruning, arms crossed against the even surface of the cement bordering the pool. Okay, they'd wasted enough time out here. Looking at Enzo, he sighed. "We should go. What's next in your big relaxation plans?"
