Kieran was still something of the new kid on the block. Environmental confusion was sort of his most prominent personality trait, so he had almost no idea what he was doing about 90% of the time. Only proven further by the hideous excuse for a carved pumpkin. [break][break]
It no longer had much of a shape to it because he'd changed his mind several times in the effort of making it. It didn't matter too much, because he had cupcakes to make up for it. Each with a colorful, somewhat ugly pumpkaboo on top that he had attempted to draw in icing. Hopefully they at least tasted alright.

As far as he could see, a few of the other rangers were already there. Tam Fawley he noted first, of course. Followed by Orion Lykos and Caleb Harcourt and Noah Camus . Kieran had taken it upon himself to try and memorize them even if his memory was about as bad as his sense of direction.

His costume was nowhere near as impressive as Orion's, more so he just worse a pair of bear ears and a moon shirt so he could say he attempted to look like a Teddiursa (it was a last minute costume idea). So far, so good. That was until he'd mistepped and somehow managed to trip over his own two feet, toppling forward with a platter of poorly iced cupcakes.

Kieran was usually quite gullible, but he was knowledgeable enough when it came to his sister that he didn't quite coast over her sarcasm. She was a notable expert when it came to all the things he couldn't do well. Sometimes, admittedly, it made him a little jealous to see her do just about everything with ease. Sure, maybe that didn't extend to making friends, but he still wished he could be even slightly as confident and capable as her. "I'll have you know I can be very diligent, you'll see." He planted his hands on his hips, but it didn't do much to add authority to his posture. Especially not with his hair tousled as it was.

He sighed, "You got that totally backwards." It was always lead with good news first. Obviously, doing otherwise was purely manipulative and his methods TOTALLY weren't manipulative at all.

She ruffled his hair and he groaned obnoxiously like a brat. Continuing to blink the latent sleep from his eyes, he dragged himself down the hall to the kitchen. Breakfast, and food in general, did have a unique way of motivating him into immediate action. He was almost always hungry, which probably came from years of being constantly starving when they were kids.

"Of course, I'll take eggs." When did he turn down food? Well... sometimes he'd go through bouts of guilt over not being a egg-stealing meat-eater, but today wasn't one of those days. He was not picky today. "No one sees that closet, but alright sure." He couldn't actually object to Calla, really.

He might have slept in, a little. Not on purpose. It wasn't like this wasn't important. Kieran just wasn't used to operating without Calla throwing him out of bed in the morning. Though he was actually not too late, considering his bad sense of time. Despite the lateness, he was excited to be doing this job. Corsola were so cute and it was nice to get to see the water for once in so long. He'd been so busy training lately that he hadn't considered traveling too far out of slateport. There was so much going on in the city that he hadn't anticipated getting sent out, but it was good training for him.

It was also, admittedly, nice to be working with another new guy (or at least that was what he was told). wren rourke , that was his name right? Gosh, what if he got it wrong and insulted him? By the time he made it to the docks, he wasn't entirely certain anymore. He was also out of breath. Maybe he needed to do more running.

He looked up at the voice, beaming and waving. "Yeah, that's me." Siv slivered up behind him, apparently loathing the rush they'd made there. "You're... Wren, right?" He prayed that was right. Why was he so bad at names?

"Tam, right.. sorry, mr.-" He paused, frowning in reflection of his own babbling. His nerves had climbed since entering the training square and the feeling of excitement had submitted beneath that anxiety somewhat. It had been a long time since he'd tried to do anything on his own. It was usually him and his twin, through everything. Calla was the tougher of the both of them. He followed Calla's lead and this was the first time he didn't have her to turn to.

He knew at least the parameters of the job, which was to do this job without the assistance of his pokemon either. That only made this even more daunting. Not only could he not rely on others, but also not his pokemon. Siv waited patiently behind, finding a nice place to sun among the grass, while he trainer went off to do whatever it was he was wanting to do.

Acting confident and being confident were two entirely different things. He eyed the Falinks, feeling a sense of dread. "Get them out? How am I.. Right... yeah, I can do that." He said, half in question and somewhat in an attempt to seem like he knew exactly what he was doing. What was he gonna do, ask them politely? Okay so maybe he could push them out? "Hi, sorry. Just need to... move you... over here." He said in the process of making the stubborn little things budge.

Calla was, unsurprisingly, a tyrant. An absolute drill sergeant, completely unfair. Sleep was a highly valued thing for Kieran. There was nothing more important for him than being able to sleep in and wake up feeling refreshed and ready for the day. This feeling wasn’t refreshed or ready, it was MISERY. He groaned to emphasize his pain and agony as he forced himself upright.

A heavy yawn forced itself from his mouth as he pressed his hands to his eyes. Rubbing the sleep from them, he looked about the mess that was his room. Maybe he could afford to do some late summer cleaning after all, but they could do that later too. ”You don’t know that.” He grumbled, ”I can be very diligent.” Since when?

Yet Calla was crafty. She was mischievously crafty. ”Pancakes?” There was only one thing that could motivate Kieran into speedy action, food. He perked up at the sound of breakfast. Soon the smell of it seemed to linger in his nostrils, enticing him to drag himself from the comfort of bed. ”Well… why didn’t you start with that? Sheesh.” Hair still an unkempt mess, he plodded down the hall to the kitchen. Soon after, Siv slithered out from the warmth of the covers and lazily followed after him with the flick of her forked tongue and a little pleased ssssss.

Kieran was feeling pumped. Ready to go. Most of it was purely excitement and the chance of something more than he'd managed before. It was also a humored sort of excitement. Kieran wasn't stupid enough to think it was taken seriously. Even his twin sister looked at it with a shred of pessimism, like a parent observing a child's lofty goals. Supportive and yet knowing that it was more than likely going to end in disappointment.

Not without reason, Kieran had a sort of song and dance as he danced between things he wanted in his life. Hobbies that came and gone as readily as his expression of love. This felt different though, he was sure of it. That was probably naivety speaking, but he was at least hopeful that he could prove he wasn't entirely useless. It wasn't like he could depend on Calla his entire life.

So, yeah... he was excited and not quite ready to admit the possibility of letting himself down again. Even as he walked along towards the training ground, he was reading through the contents of the ranger handbook. Siv, his serperior, was slithering through the weeds that lined the path. She was also somewhat skeptical, a voice of reason if ever there was one, but also was simply content to enjoy the outing.

Arriving at the training grounds, he realized he was early. His sense of time was always a little off, but it was likely better early than late, right? He hadn't gotten distracted once, which was a bit surprising. Despite his earliness, he still addressed the empty training grounds"Mr. Fawley?"

Even from the denseness of sleep, he could sense her. She was coming for him and there was no escape. There were many different kinds of sleepers in the world, light-sleepers and heavy-sleepers and hibernating-bear sleepers. Kieran was the type that slept like a rock until he was yanked out of bed and dunked in ice water. Even when he was just awake enough to sense that he was no longer alone in the room, there was very little he could do about it.

He made a pitiful, animalistic whimper from under a layer of quilted blanket. It would do little to ward off his sister though. Calla was relentless, some might even say EVIL for her staunch timeliness when it came to waking up in the morning. Why? When sleep was so nice? He was certain she was actually a robot, though he never tell her as much. Sunlight peered through the open curtains, seeping through the fabric and the membrane of his eyelids. No no no no. Not cleaning day!

"Five more minutes... Callaaaa..." He groaned, feeling air make contact with his skin as she prized the quilt from him. He sought it out blindly with his hand. Eventually, with another whimpering groan, he rose. His vision was blurry as he pressed the back of one hand to his eyes. The other arm stretched out awkwardly. His hair was in stringy ruffled beehive on his head. "We can clean anytime... like noon."
