“Thank you,” He said with a beaming smile to Locke Jamison’s slowpoke as it assisted Wren’s vaporeon in healing them both. Things were beginning to get a little overwhelming, admittedly. Maybe if he were more experienced with water rescues, or even just more experienced in general, he might have been better prepared for this expedition. However, he wasn’t going to give up.

He’d never forgive himself if he gave up when things were so dire, especially with others working so hard to make all of this work. Eventually, the pain went away. He waved at ollie morales for the helpful save against a feisty bruxish. Then, looking to wren rourke, “You okay? Ready to get back in there?” His voice was confident, even if he wasn’t sure he felt all that confident anymore.

It was probably a good thing to look at things in a more realistic light. Most of the sharpedo had been handled by a nasty looking lightning strike. Yet something in the dark of the trench dwelled. Things were far from over. “What the heck is that!?” It wasn’t anything he’d seen before. Returning his exhausted dewott back to their pokeball. He released his own bruxish, and sent it out to lash out at the huntail with Psychic Fangs. In comparison to the size of the Huntail, it probably felt no more than a papercut, but he had to try, right?

“Suppose that’s true, but then you’d be eligible to join my club: The fastbreak kids who break everything. Still working on the title.” That was to say that Kieran did a lot more breaking than he did fixing. He was fairly certain that he had a curse, even if Calla assured him he was not, though she too suffered regularly from his bad juju. It didn’t exactly help him gain independence considering how frequently he almost died.

Not Kierstan. That made him laugh, “You’re free to call me whatever you want though.” He probably would permit it even if the other forgot his name and called him by the wrong one. Though he hoped he wouldn't, that would be a little disappointing.

Kieran was more inclined to come to a truce rather than persist at a stalemate. It was simply his nature to relent even when it pained him. In this case; however, he wondered if a compromise could be made. Maybe it was a last ditch effort. Really, it wasn’t a huge deal, he’d just come back and get them when they were restocked, but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t be disappointed.

The other turned a touch frantic, maybe it was over his choice of words? Wow, he probably sounded like a weirdo or a pervert or something. “No, I mean not like that… we don’t have to. Sorry, that was probably a bit intrusive and dumb of me. I can be kind of stupid from time to time. I swear I’m not a weirdo… though I suppose that’d be what weirdos would say.” Ohhh, what had he done?

Things hadn’t been right for awhile now, and it was mostly his fault. Kieran wasn’t one for confrontation, which was probably what Calla always counted on. It wasn’t her fault that he was just finding it harder to pretend like everything was okay. The rangers were supposed to fix that, but it felt like a bandaid over an infected wound. [break][break]
So, it was probably a good thing that emerson whitlock had invited him out, otherwise he might have soured further over it. Kieran didn’t often give in to negative feelings, as he had programmed himself into being positive almost all of the time, but when he did succumb to them well… he could be an emotional guy.

Unexpectedly, the festival felt overwhelming at first, maybe because instinct would require him to curl up into a ball under some covers and ride out the emotions until he emerged the positive butterfree everyone knew him to be. That didn’t mean he was going to run away from the situation, he couldn’t do that to Emerson.

Finding the small redhead wasn’t exactly an easy thing to do in this crowd. It was dumb, he should have set up a specific location. Why was he so stupid all the time? “Sorry… excuse me… coming through.” He pushed through the crowd of people, still unable to find the other man.

“kieran! hey, kieran!” That was either a familiar voice or god telling him it was time to ascend.

His eyes connected with red hair, confirming that it wasn’t yet his time. He tapped Em’s shoulder, beaming brightly. “Hey there, stranger. Looking for me?”

This was supposed to be an adventure, right? Kieran sighed heavily, head lolling back. Next time he was going out with the rest of the ranger squad.

“You guys do realize how forests work right?” Okay, a little snippy of him, but he just couldn't help himself. Of course, he was also privileged enough to be shielded from the worst of the branches due to Grunt’s big head. Still, he laughed a little to himself, before fishing his other pokeball back out and releasing Siv once more. The serpent slipped easily across the back of the Tyrantrum and over its head to perch there.

Then the Tyrantrum tossed its head, sending the serpent up into the air. “Leafblade!” A mass of violent blades cut through the foliage and the thick stalks of bamboo in front of them. Then, the serpent landed back down onto the Tyrantrum’s head, perching there again until needed.

Little did he realize, the slices had stirred something within the green.

“I doubt that for you, you got that techie touch I’m sure.” In some way, Kieran envied people with that kind of skill. Or well… just any kind of refined and central skill. Kier wasn’t sure if he had any detailed talents like that. Sure, he could talk to people without problem, but plenty of people could do that. It was like a helping hand that could guide people along their path. Meanwhile, he felt constantly adrift and totally lost.

“Nice to meet you, Emerson.” He smiled, noting the tinge of red on the other’s face. Clearly, Emerson didn’t seem to be all that comfortable in public so Kieran reeled it in a little bit. He could be overwhelming at the worst of times. His personality was simply to be passionate, no way of reconditioning himself out of that, but he could respect people that weren’t the same way.

It was a little hilarious though that despite the niceties they were both in direct competition over a bag of togepi dumplings. For people like them, food was a conquest, but even then it was still a bit ridiculous in retrospect.

The realization sparked an idea though. “I don’t wanna be too forward or uhh… insert myself where I’m not wanted, but I happen to know a top-secret recipe for dumpling sauce if you’re interested in sharing. Or not, you’re free to have it, I think your hand was a half-centimeter closer.”

“Yeah she uh… haha acts like I’m gonna break.” Talking about his twin was either a good thing or not, rarely was there anywhere in-between when it came to reflecting on his relationship with Calla. The only messy parts of it were the parts he created for them. The truth was that he adored his sister and looked up to her.

She was his best friend, and yet at the same time, it was complicated. She was also his greatest enemy, in her own way. That wasn’t a particularly kind way of looking at it and he hated not being perceived as kind, but the truth wasn’t always pretty (no matter how much he wished it was). “Of course, I can’t blame her. I’m a bit bumbling and dumb at times.”

Naming was either a super silly thing for Kieran, or super serious. There was no in-between. There were quite a few of his own that didn't have names yet and he often felt bad about that, though he also didn't think himself that creative.

"That's what you get." He stuck his tongue out at his twin, waving his hands around. Though to be honestly, he was running out of steam and... admittedly, he wasn't designed for the cold.

"Hands are getting kinda cold." He hummed the melody of jingle bells to take his mind off of it, but it wasn't really helping if he was completely honest. Shaky cold hands made it harder to hold the snow, especially as he awkwardly re-situated the ruined bit, thanks to Calla. At least the whole snowboy wasn't ruined. "Oh — haha! I'm done. I win."

"Mmmm... okay I guess you can take them off." He sighed, relenting rather quickly. After all, he didn't want his pokemon to be uncomfortable for his sake. "This is harder than I thought," He confessed. Especially since the cold was starting to seep through his gloves. Hopefully he finished sooner rather than later, especially if he wanted to win.

Things were looking kind of good so far, considering he was a little out of practice. He wasn't paying Calla a whole lot of attention anymore. After his more competitive side kicked in, this wasn't exactly out of the ordinary for him. Though every once in awhile, he would still look up to regard Calla's progress. "Not bad, I guess..... okay it looks pretty good." He sighed. He couldn't really be mean.

All that he needed we the accessories, which weren't too difficult??? If the snow would work with him dang it! He wasn't frustrated though, no way. He was cool as a cucumber. And still 100% going to win against his sister. No matter what.
