Meteor Falls! It’s, like, pretty and stuff![break][break]

Despite the sun showing itself that day, it was still pretty chilly out. It made his ankle ache something awful, but he was past the point of moping! didn’t despise his presence, after all. And maybe it was…better than he thought it might be. (Hehe.) He wasn’t gonna let anything cloudy or gray stop him from at least getting back into light activity. And what better way to do that than to go snooping around for more buddies to add to his team.[break][break]

Better still when was free to meet up. That shared cheeriness was something Wren found that he’d missed in the days following Littleroot, so it was a bit of an unspoken relief to experience it now. “Have you seen the new dex patch?” he asked as they made their way to the falls, Wren settled on his gogoat’s back until he felt he could slip off onto level ground. “Maybe we’ll find some cool stuff out here!” So far, he’d found exactly two— one of which he’d brought along and held out for Kieran to inspect. A jittery looking smoliv.

It felt nice to get outside. Of course, Kieran spent almost every day outside, but that was where he felt best. The great outdoors almost seemed to fill him with ever-replenishing energy. His partner for the day; however, looked a little worse for wear. It did make him feel a bit guilty. Wren had been battling for the good of the league in Littleroot and what had Kieran done? Honestly, he couldn't remember... he'd probably slept in that day.

Still, Wren was so brave. There was no way that Kieran imagined he'd be able to do the same. probably could, she was the brave one of the two of them. He wasn't really sure if he was brave, but he didn't think he'd be. "I did! There's a lot of exciting stuff going on, I'll be honest, it's kinda hard to keep up with." He laughed, rubbing the back of his neck at the admittance. Kieran was used to stumbling through life and usually the information he learned was in the same bumbling way.

"I noticed you have a new cutie, what's his name?" He said, looking at the smoliv. He'd never seen one before.

Wren didn’t think Kieran was any lesser for not having been at Littleroot. He hadn’t even really wanted to be there himself (doubly so for .) So really he sort of counted a good thing that his friend hadn’t been assigned to attend. But Wren was healing up and his move had improved significantly since he’d tracked Levy down, so in his mind, it was all on the up and up.[break][break]

“Maybe we’ll find some stuff from it, if we’re lucky,” Wren said with a laugh. “I don’t disagree though. It’s a little too much sometimes.” He’ll take a breather, thank you!![break][break]

“Oh yeah! I found her at a Christmas tree farm when I was out there with my sibling! She always looks so nervous, even when she’s not.” He held the shiny smoliv out, the pit on the top of her head a plum-black rather than the yellowish shade he’d seen on others that day.[break][break]

“I actually haven’t figured out a name yet. Wanna help?” Too wrapped up in his chatter, he didn’t even notice the corphish that had crawled out. It was able to retreat peacefully.

Naming was either a super silly thing for Kieran, or super serious. There was no in-between. There were quite a few of his own that didn't have names yet and he often felt bad about that, though he also didn't think himself that creative.

In his distraction, he didn't notice the two pokemon that had meandered by. Instead, he focused a look on the smoliv. "Uh... Olivia? Oliver? Those are probably bad." Okay, so score no point for creativity, but he was at least trying.

“Olive the smoliv?” he answered with a laugh as he held the poor lil thing up like baby simba. “That’d be pretty funny.” Wren gave the smoliv a break, though, as talk turned to his leg.[break][break]

“Ah…it’s okay.” He gave his ankle a test wiggle as if to prove it. “Still pretty sore, though. I’m just glad I don’t have to use crutches anymore.”[break][break]

An azumarill popped up out of some of the pool’s stiller waters and floated to the edge. Curious, Wren attempted offering it a berry from his pocket rather than engaging it in combat first. “One day at a time, y’know? How’ve you been?”

"Probably a bit basic, I take naming serious, but that doesn't mean I'm very good at it." That was pretty close to the truth. His own pokemon were named pretty simply in his opinion, even if he still liked them to this day. He didn't regret the pokemon he'd befriended or the names he'd given them.

"Oh wow you're healing fast." Kieran had broken limbs multiple times, considering how clumsy he is. Much to his sister's exasperation. It wasn't hard to understand why she was hesitant to trust him on his own. "I'm alright, not really doing a whole lot these days, I feel." He spied a Dewott in the distance and gave it a little wave. It looked like his own dewott, Lottie. The otter pokemon slippd under the surface of the water and vanished.

“I think if it seems like it sticks, that’s what counts!” Some people did themes and that just seemed like a whole lotta work. Wren usually just went with what seemed extra cute, and just right. Even if they ended up sounding pretty quirky.[break][break]

“Yeah! It ended up being a pretty clean break so it set easily.” He’d broken bones far worse before. In less violent ways, but still. A carvanah leapt up out of the water, looking for someone to chomp on. Not humoring it, his umbreon darted forward and muddled it with a well aimed CONFUSE RAY.[break][break]

Turning back to Kieran after he tossed a ball out, his head tipped to the side. “What do you mean? Like…at the Slateport office or just in general?”

"In general, I guess. I don't know. I feel like I'm in this weird slump." Maybe it was a little too personal to be discussing with Wren. The other was nice, beyond nice, but he also may not want to be around someone who seemed whiny. Things had been easy for Kieran since leaving Kanto, it was his sister that took the weight of everything. But therein lied the issue, no?

It felt like this impossible shadow that he couldn't escape. "Ooh a dratini!" He gasp, readying his pokeball as siv lashed out with vine whip and he quickly threw the ball to catch.

A shelgon hunkered down nearby, Wren still caught sight of it. His umbreon darted forward, knocking it sideways with a DARK PULSE before Wren sent a pokeball flying.[break][break]

Even then, he was attuned to what his friend was saying. He frowned, turning back in Kieran’s direction. “Maybe a change of scenery would be nice?” he suggested, instantly feeling a little guilty for the idea taking root, but still. “Not like, permanently moving or something because commuting would probably be super easy.”[break][break]

He huffed quietly, trying to arrange his words better. “What I mean is, maybe working at a different branch of the ranger HQs would be helpful.” Maybe a specific one…but Wren would get to that.
