A Deadly Job



Mei stared neutrally down at the dead body. It was just another rich man in a suit laying in a pool of his own blood.[break][break]
It wasn't particularly novel.[break][break]
What was interesting, however, was the woman Rocket had sent to help the assassin dispose of the body. A woman named , who reminded Mei of the medieval Galarian castles she'd seen before in movies: impenetrable, defensible, and full of juicy secrets. Mei wanted to scale those impregnable walls, peek inside, visit every nook and cranny...but most of all, she wanted to see the surly woman smile. Just once.[break][break]
"I don't usually get rid of the bodies," Mei explained pleasantly, though Marza hadn't asked. "In Kanto, we liked to send messages. But I guess this fellow is supposed to go missing. His disappearance will be so mysterious." She giggled, amused by the thought that she might be kicking off something akin to the plot of a detective novel.[break][break]
Mei looked around the room as if in search of ideas for disposal. Their surroundings were a stately private office in the dead man's seaside vacation home. It was really a very nice house, Mei had thought upon entering. She envied the person or people who would inevitably inherit it. Rich people were always doing things like that: giving away mansions like they were as common as Pokeballs.[break][break]
"You're my muscle," Mei decided, turning to Marza, a mischievous, somewhat seductive glint to her seafoam eyes. "What do you recommend?"
