THE EMERALD WORMS WRIGGLE AWAY but it is futile attempt at escape. Roy Aker and illeana reyes may be able to notice that several of these worms possess a pathetic sense of urgency. These Cells squirm away slow—or even turn towards the cube before their capture. However, other worms (the Cores) are more intelligent, able to chart smarter paths of departure. Still, they too, are siphoned.

Roy Aker's canine watches on intently. as the artifact its trainer holds glows green with each new acquisition.

The cube's green-scaled face shows what appears to be a digitized percentage: 25%. Regardless of the percentage, the cube is unable to separate into another ZYGARDE 10%. Should Roy Aker retract his ZYGARDE 10% into his cube, the percentage will rise to 35%.

After a brief moment, the number disappears and a message in draconic runes marquees past: vekik mamissi ehtaha.

Curiously, this message does not appear when Roy Aker captures a Zygarde Cell in METEOR FALLS with freya morningstar and howard slayte in his company.

WHEN THE GRUMPIG SQUEALS, a shrill siren rings across the rocky realm. A pink-haired maiden soars through the dusty zephyr in mourning blacks. She does not arrive in time to stop the ELECTRO BALL—but it is clear that she could have intervened from afar should she have desired. Curiously, like a mantis surveying its prey or a Mossdeep astronomer Neffatari Nzingha has seen scrying the stars, the ✨ TAPU LELE observes how the electricity surges through the pig. How it dismantles the rest of its crystalline pegleg and tears off its already frail tail.

The GRUMPIG lands on the rocky floor and gasps in pain. Quickly, the ✨ TAPU LELE rushes to the pig's side. In a maternal turn, the sprite raises its stubby hands; black scales, similar if not identical to Zev Harcourt's necronium metals, flurry outward and reform a leg... and then a tail. Perhaps, ameena abadi is correct. In her image, she recreates the Pokemon... as best as she can. As best as she can before the Pokemon dies.

The ✨ TAPU LELE finally lays her eyes on fern delaney's ✨ TAPU KOKO, Zev Harcourt, and NECROZMA too. However, there is no joy in this reunion. Like an indignant child or estranged relative, the sprite hisses at them as if to say, "stay away."

THE FEARS OF LULU'S NOIBAT ARE NOT UNFOUNDED. As its trembling form hangs onto infernal horns, another devilish shape soars above. Whatever it is, it is difficult to discern.

Cillian Quinn and Lulu Flint will see a vague serpentine shape shifting in and out of the disorienting chroma. However, the sheer strength that exudes from this fallen angel, this forsaken sibling, is enough to give answer.

The creature speaks into their minds. Sounds similar to that of words, but still carrying the lexical weight of some dreadful omen.

"I have dwelt since time immemorial. I have beheld the rise and ruin of countless civilizations. One of thy deserters I have claimed—she who could not bear the burden of my power, now lost to the endless void. Thy schemes of trespass are known to me. And when the appointed hour arrives, I shall claim thee all, as I have claimed her."

GIRATINA's eyes bore into the two and their Pokemon as apocalyptic beacons before the Renegade Pokemon melts into the endless cyclone of blue.

It is uncertain why these copies are here. Why they walk among us when we already live and breathe.

Sometimes, these doppelgangers may speak a hidden truth belonging to the original Fenelle or Kasper. Sometimes, they may make a gesture or say a phrase that harks back to a past childhood or buried memory. Secrets may be spilled from these glitchy echoes—but even what they say, what they present, may be wholly different or inaccurate to what your characters know, experience and believe.

When it comes time for them to fade, they will say to you in haunting unison: "YOU ARE CORRUPTED. YOU ARE CORRUPTED."

Eventually, the two will come across a long hallway flanked on either side by series of sarcophagi. Sandbanks smother the chamber's corners and trickle onto Rosemary and Vespa's path. Every gold granule or old stone that clatters whispers merry little things, promises sure to be unkept, fantasies and secrets scribbled into ears by tongues.

Should the two traverse past these coffins, their lids will swing open. Cofagrigus hands shoot out from their wretched smiles. Their black, shadowy bodies lunge out and shift into figures of TEMPTATION that manifest into what Rosemary Lovelace or Vespa Baskerville may desire... surely, at least one of them will succumb and crawl into their void for good.

At the end of this hallway, there is a stone pedestal. However, nothing rests upon it. Whatever was once here had been pilfered long ago.

Instead, the two would find a message:

AT THE SNAP OF KYLE'S FINGERS AND THE HEROIC CRY OF EDUARDO HISAKAWA, the two Swords of Justice clash. But Terrakion is not alone in his noble pursuit. Another blade is brandished to unite with its brother—and in union, a charred branch becomes anew.

Like enduring charcoal, Eddie is no stranger to sacrifice. To char one's self in order to allow for the hottest flame to smith another's steel, to cast heroic light upon its edge: this is one of the greatest strengths and one of the greatest vulnerabilities the man from Cascarrafa bears close to his heart.

There is a duty Terrakion must hold. To kyle lopez, to noah faber, to the other Swords of Justice in Melody Miro and lam logan's care... but now, Terrakion hearkens to Eddie's big heart. Its strength, its wounds. Though Eddie may have allies, both human and Pokemon, the loneliness the man holds with shaking, calloused hands calls out to the Sword of Justice from deep within his soul.

Clang! The three swords join together with earsplitting clangor, and the twig in Eduardo Hisakawa's hands begins to incinerate, black pitch tearing away into light...

Eduardo Hisakawa receives the following perks:

• eddie now possesses immense physical strength and stamina; his blows have become strong enough to crush rock, and his endless quest for justice grants him a greater resistance or in some cases, immunity, to status conditions that would otherwise impair his movement (e.g. paralysis, sleep, and freezing, etc.). eddie also possesses immense durability and endurance, making it almost impossible to launch him or blow him away if he so chooses.



• eddie's steadfast desire to protect others manifests as a defensive aura, reducing physical damage taken by people and pokemon within a twenty foot (or six meter) radius of himself. this effect becomes weaker at the edges of this radius and is stronger at its center.



• eddie is also able to "charge" (e.g. teleport/dash) to a target he wishes to protect, able to take a blow on their behalf or relocate throughout the battlefield.



• eddie can now temporarily conjure a sacred sword, an immaterial, glowing blade of orange light that requires focus and attention to maintain.



• emboldened by the spirit of camaraderie, eddie and terrakion become physically empowered when in the presence of other Swords of Justice, granting them heightened combat prowess for as long as they stand alongside their brothers-in-arms.



• eddie may place terrakion in his personal computer and choose its moveset like a gachapon pokemon.

A RESOLUTE FORM is bestowed upon the Terrakion thanks to kyle lopez's temporary powers. His horn becomes strong and triumphant, and his bulky, muscular body is forged into an unstoppable force. However, it is the fated brotherhood between Pokemon and Man that transforms burned twig into SACRED SWORD to tip the scales. In Eduardo Hisakawa's grasp, the sword shines bright alongside Terrakion, and together, they cut through Keldeo's resolute horn.

Brilliant lights scatter from the launched colt. When it hits the rocky earth, the Keldeo reverts back to its Ordinary Form.

Before Kyle's spirit, a new Avatar is born.

A deep human-like voice beckons for her. Curtains billow at the end of the hallway, their delicate, lace patterns betraying little, only darkness behind their veil. As she nears them, Kazuya Yoshida may be able to see a GOLDEN RING'S BORDER flanking either side of the corridor, granting him advance notice or time to warn or save Cassandra Kubrick.

From the curtains, a HOOPA emerges, wreathed in spectral shadows, its eyes bloodred. Despite its fearsome launch, the Djinn is in its spritely form.

With a cackle, the HOOPA attempts to grab Cassandra Kubrick or Jon, the Trubbish, through the curtain. Behind the curtain is no window, but a steep fall off a jagged cliff.

Should and when Cassandra Kubrick and Kazuya Yoshida avoid peril, the HOOPA will laugh:

"no fun! no fun at all! can't i have my fun while there's time? not a lot more to go. soon the sky will burn and none of you will know!"

The HOOPA will eventually depart, leaping through a ring.

THE ROCKETS & THEIR POKEMON PROVE TO BE FORMIDABLE FOES. However, the Loyal Three fight ruthlessly. They have known death before—and it appears that they fear it no longer.

Sometime during the hexad slugfest, each retainer will produce a piece of MOCHI from their furs, their feathers. A quick nibble of its chewy and mystical poison confers immediate and horrifying effect.

Their chorus of war cries deepen as they bloom in size. Though they do not become as big as DYNAMAXED GOLEMNS, they hulk and loom like fierce ogres in this battle torn wood.

As TITANIC POKEMON, they will fight with unrelenting fury and play until the transformation fades.

THE SPIRITS OF GABRIEL AND KYLE CONTINUE TO GUIDE YUINA through the purgatorial plains. Petrified parades of humans and Pokemon become the fencing for their quest.

As they navigate hurdles of rock-lodged limbs and crusted skulls, it is apparent that some of these statues are from the modern era: foolish travelers who have wandered through the Primal Rift and its pulsing radius of access. But some are from ages past. Their attire is of old Hoennian style... but the occasional figure, made vague from solid stone, seems to be of Hisuian make.

It is clear that people and Pokemon have traveled into The Border before. In the past. From the present. After all, the Ruinous Quartet have been sealed here long ago, by particular elements and their masters.

Great gusts beat against their ears. Death dust dances across the field. An arm or leg crumbles off, macabre tumbleweeds that fail to roll. YVELTAL flies above. Its shadow slides across the three's figures, but pays them no mind. Contrarily, YVELTAL is more blind to the three's presences than not; their abnormalities contribute to their furtive walk.

Gabriel Navidson is a premature death, an infranatural absence in the living world. A rare instance of subverted fate, where Navy walks the universes alone while all other Navys have found final repose.

kyle lopez is a split spirit. A death that requires time to reconcile. His resurrection has been corrupted by the hand of anomaly; however, this ordained odyssey through death must be fulfilled.

Yuina Higashi is a traveler incongruous with time. But death comes for all. It is the grand equalizer. The conductor's baton that synchronizes the temporal choir—but is death the end? What comes after the final breath? When fate bequeaths her with its frightening quandary, what shall she say?

The YVELTAL soars past, leaving solemn contemplation in its wake.

THE DUPLICITOUS DEMONS ARE BUT THE FIRST WAVE OF THEIR TRIAL. However, Hoenn, this universe, has steeled the spirits of those who live within it.

That is not to say those who wade within this spectral surf are not disturbed. Not shaken. To see a mirror self is to gaze into a part of the soul not meant to be seen by mortal eyes. To see a lost companion, blood and muscle marionetted by the darkest of worldly emotions, is to unstitch an ever-bleeding wound.

The spirit of VICTINI that resides here is made of such emotion. Of the bitterness of sacrifice. Of the unjustness of guardianship against threats never meant for this world.

Immediately after the zombie QUAQUAVAL is dispatched, the VICTINI cuts through the fog with crematory flames. It hisses, eyes glowing with fervent vengeance. Throughout the fight, the spirit speaks. It snarls of its sacrifice. Of its unfair death. Blame is cast to those present, even if they had not experienced the invasion of Ultra Beasts so many years ago.

Cradled within the spectral body, the SOUL SHARD can be seen. It is the hearth of this spirit. Once this spirit is felled, only then can the SOUL SHARD return to the SOUL DEW. Once it returns, the SOUL DEW will feel heavier, fuller. It is almost to completion.

NOTE

ONCE THIS SOUL SHARD IS PROCURED, the spirit of Victini will no longer be present in The Border.

They wear layered garments in muted colors. Draconic patterns and circular shapes, like eyes, adorn their clothes, headbands, accessories. Anklets and staves feature these traditional patterns too; some curiously look similar to the mega stone accessories of today.

Several of the spirits begin to dance. Occasionally, they join hands as they circle around the space with graceful and purposeful movement. Though each dancer is different, they all wear an accessory of some kind.

Others watch on with intense scrutiny. They seem older: the elders, perhaps. One strokes a fiery beard, twirling the ends of it like candle's wick. As the dance continues, it becomes abundantly clear this is not an official ceremony. Rather, it is... practice.

Around freya morningstar, Roy Aker, and howard slayte, the ghosts continue to dance. Spirit orbs and ghostly lights dance across the stone walls.

Eventually, the apparitions fade and the cold loosens its grasp on skin and stone.

THE BLOODMOON URSALUNA IS ON EDGE. Its greater sense of smell grants it advanced notice, earlier than OGERPON's for their incoming intruder.

However, any element of stealth is soon discarded in favor for bombastic flair. One, two trees are clobbered, splintered in two from the thwack thwack of a TOXIC CHAIN.

An OKIDOGI struts in. Its winding Toxic Chain is in one hand, while a bundle of masks held together by twine rests in the other.

In an act of mockery against Andrea Vaneau and her OGERPON, the OKIDOGI raises one mask to its face. Its evidently pilfered from a local festival; however, the mask is splattered in BLUE ORAN BERRY JUICE.

The others are similarly colored to represent the masks OGERPON has lost. A red one. A gray one. Seeing the bear, the OKIDOGI make mimic it. A stupid expression is unceremoniously crowned by slapping the fleshy end of its Toxic Chain against its own forehead.

It canine will cycle through them during their encounter to taunt before departing: an ominous reminder that these Pokemon will always be up to no good.
