This obvious thought is punctuated by the Shaymin’s sudden glowing. "Shoot" Though he shares a glance with Jangle, the brunette doesn’t try to give orders. Sure, he might be Captain Oblivious, but he’s not that stupid. Nobody wants to get hit with a sun cannon.

The relief that flows through her body is brief. It stitches together a few scratches. A thin layer of black fuzz grows over the balded patches from her earlier fire attacks. But, as she stares down the attack, Jangle knows that boost isn’t enough. A Solar Beam—even as ineffective as it is—will erase those gains in an instant. If it hit, anyway.

Doing her best to dodge, the cat allowed her energy out in a Flare Blitz. But would she be fast enough? The Solar Beam smashes into the tile where she'd been standing. It's almost a clear shot to the Shaymin, now!

[attr="class","bisc"]Before the Dragon Hammer connects, Jangle stumbles onto her knees. That last punch had taken a lot out of her. With a heavy sigh, she watches her last heart vanish. As the depressed cat settles into a seated position, she pauses to flash the silver fox a thumbs-up.

Biscotti, meanwhile, offers up a grin. Though he does go over to squeeze the cat's shoulder. "Yeah! You too! You guys did great." Fishing into his pocket, he pulled out a little coupon. It's for a free snack at the Kingsley Confections's stand across the way. "Have a doughnut on me!" Or, his sister.

Hopefully, she didn't mind the free advertising.

[attr="class","bisc"]Suddenly, the Meowth bursts into flames. It’s a beacon of hellish light—one large enough to temporarily block out the sun. Holy crap! He set his cat on fire! The pair meet in a fiery explosion. The smaller tiger’s flames lick and bite at the cat’s as the heat tosses itself back and forth. As the warmth intensifies to an almost painful (not to him) degree, the young man tosses his hand across his face.

The fire cat can put up with a lot of heat, but this is too much. Her fire-retardant fur starts to flicker as the bigger Pokemon’s inferno threatens to overwhelm. “Hsss!” Biscotti pears worriedly into the maelstrom as his BFF lets out a noise of frustration. Suddenly, from the center of the fire cloud, there’s a yellow light.

In an attempt to break the stalemate, Jangle has thrown a Drain Punch at the towering nekomata.

[attr="class","bisc"]A clawed hand irritably wiped a line of blood from her forehead. It’d dripped into one eye, leaving it irritated. The grunt that followed from Jangle was one of comeuppance. The scorch marks feeling oddly justified beside her pounding head. Notably, the cat did not charge immediately. She let the little hedgehog get its HP back. It wasn’t like she actually wanted to barbeque the thing.

“I mean they kind of do.” Scotti replied half-heartedly. It wasn’t like they’d have set a boulder on fire. And, at the end of the day, there was nothing wrong with acknowledging that. People were strong and weak against stuff too. Like him? He loved baked goods and snoozing alarms too much. “Not that you guys aren’t doing good.” Because they were.

That burst of healing energy had left the hedgehog looking good as new. Only little bits of ash showed where Jangle had left her mark. The cat meanwhile was flagging. Blood was flowing down her head and little vines wrapped around her extremities. Maybe we should take a page from their book? Try to claw something back? “Jangle, uh—” Before he gets the order out, the fire type charges headlong into the Energy Ball barrage.

She gritted her teeth as a dark green energy began to flow around her paw. It was time for a reset! Drain Punch!

[attr="class","bisc"]As the last wilted petal falls, the Incineroar drops to one knee. Her mouth opens in impotent little gasps, the draining smoke trying to claw air back into her lungs. With the fox’s dodge, she’s a sitting duck out here. The gem at her belt is flat and lifeless—all of its fervor drained for one spectacular display. Shaking her head, the cat raises her gaze to meet Tsukiko’s directly.

Then, she grins. A hand lifts to beckon the vulpine forward. Bring it on. That look seems to say. And the Ninetales don’t disappoint. Shuddering from the cold, the cat grits her teeth. All the while, she tries to demand her legs to move. Which doesn’t happen until the Blizzard starts to subside. Eyes glowing like hellish sulfur, the hell cat rises to her feet.

With the dregs she just scrounged up, she tries to close the gap again—this time her path ends with a Hammer Arm.

It almost looked like John had been speaking in a foreign language. “You know it’s a biscuit, right?” Even as he said it, the brunette felt almost guilty. His big sis had it worse. A lady with a name based on creme fillings couldn’t go long without some perv cracking a joke. Then, there was Sarspirilla—good luck spelling that in a pinch. And, of course, that didn’t exactly lend itself to a nickname. He could get away with calling himself Scott if he wanted to.

At the talk of fun, the brunette looks to Jangle first. It seemed kind of dickish to just say this stuff was fun. It wasn’t like he was getting punched in the face right now. The cat nodded. “Yeah! Totally!” Biscotti chuckled. “And, I don’t mind losing. It gives somebody else a leg-up.” It felt nice to be useful once in a while. Most of the time, he was good for nothing but stammering and putting his foot in his mouth. Judging by the twist to Jangle’s lips, she didn’t feel the same.

As the Scyther drew near, the cat unleashed its inner heat in a fiery Flare Blitz.

[attr="class","bisc"]Biscotti isn’t much of a fighter. He’s that dog who’d roll belly up at a coyote. Years of being a prisoner in his own home made him appreciative of any attention, including negative. Even when he tosses out witty banter, there’s no real bite to it. As the taunts peter away, the brunette just grins. As the two near each other, the young man crosses his fingers.

Even if he didn’t believe it’d help, he doubted it’d hurt. He holds his breath as the two near one another. He watches as his cat balls her fist for what looks like a punch. But, then, her entire body explodes in a bright, scorching light. The Blast Burn aims to push the type advantage at close range. These flames lick at the grass type as its skull connects.

With a grunt, the Incineroar is driven back and to her knees. Shaking off the worst of it, she raises woozily to her feet. Blue eyes lift to watch the virtual hearts change.

[attr="class","bisc"]“Great job, JJ!” Biscotti calls out as the cat’s dodge saves her from a Dragon Hammer to the face. Her blue eyes roll upward at the praise. It isn’t like she needs it. That pacifistic labrador couldn’t fight his way out of a wet paper bag. Still, she does wave her claws forward in a beckoning motion. “You got this!” The intermission, however, is brief.

The silver fox doesn’t take long to bounce back. In seconds, those tales are undulating like waves of cobalt-tinged mercury. “You should probably—” That teasing motion turns into an irritable slash. She knows Scotti’s mind as well as her own. There’s no need to waste his breath. Knowing her strength was at close quarters, the fire-type raced toward the cat.

As the stinging pedals hit, the feline unleashes her core’s heat in a blistering Blast Burn. Those Sakura petals didn’t do very well in the heat. Hopefully, with the Terastal, the licking flames would leave their mark.

[attr="class","bisc"]The brunette nods. But, even as he does, he can’t help but wonder why. Is it a physics thing? Something about mass and acceleration? “Usually?” The teen pipes up after a few seconds. Was the cat now too flexible for that? Was he even talking about the present? Uh, it didn’t really matter, did it? Maybe he needed to speak less—make sure each word counted. It made you seem cool, like this guy.

The cat’s dodge is scientific proof this gal has nine lives. Snapping her tail inward, Jangle skates by a few puffs of fur. But there’s no time to gloat. That giant stick of a cat is on the move and it’s glowing. Not knowing what kind of attack this is makes it hard to conjure up a comeback. Knowing dodging is out of the question. So, she opts for being a nasty target.

With a snarl, the cat flared up with a Blast Burn.

[attr="class","bisc"]By the time she noticed the impending drill attack, it was too late to change course. “Whoa! JJ! Don’t let him Gurren Lagaan you!” Biscotti’s voice was hard to hear over the pounding in her ears. Though, if she had, it’d hurt to admit that she knew exactly what her bud was alluding to. She enjoyed sci-fi stuff and action anime.

For a second, she almost switched the attack to her left hand, but she’d lose a lot of power that way. And, if she was anything, stubborn was part of it. So, as the point grazed her knuckles, the cat allowed her shoulder to drop. In doing so, she aimed to sink the hit into the normal type’s squishy bottom, the sharp part whistling harmlessly past her shoulders.

Now that she was in close quarters, the feline decided to try and capitalize on it. Her tongue snaked out to try and Lick the younger Pokemon into submission.

[attr="class","bisc"]The brunette nodded at John’s greeting. His own smile slid into place—his anxiety making him readjust it. The salute is met with a half-hearted, similar gesture. If that was a military thing, he didn’t want to be rude. But a twist of his scarred hand turned that motion into a stuttering wave. “Same!” Then, there’s another pause. “I mean about it being nice to meet you. My name isn’t John.” With a heavy sigh—a familiar gesture when he introduced himself—the baker finished quietly, “It’s Biscotti.”

The Incineroar decided to do a few stretches of her own. If the bug wanted to show off, she could do the same. Lean muscles rippled as the cat threw both arms over its head. These were then stretched to the side. Her fingers rippled as deadly claws burst from their tips. As the man introduced the bug type, Jangle offered it a single, passive glance. That snarl earned a smoke snort and little else.

Those eyes bore into his soul like some—uh—well, giant bug with scythes for arms. His heartbeat sped up as his gaze traveled from the grumpy bug to his own cat. “Yeah, uh, sure.” He smiled and waved. Hopefully, the fire stuff comes in handy.

[attr="class","bisc"]Uh, was he actually responding to that? It was meant to be rhetorical. It hits a lot softer when somebody just blurts the whole phrase out like that. Biscotti nods. “Yeah, that.” When Matias nods, the teen releases a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding. Maybe he really wanted this guy’s approval? That felt right, but he had no idea why.

As the Power Gem arcs through the air, the Incineroar moves to dodge. This is done with an Acrobatics. Hopefully, the Meowth’s giant stature makes this maneuver easier. It also makes it easier to reach the thing’s face.

[attr="class","bisc"]Energy pours back into her beleaguered frame. A sickly, green light ripples up her form as her body stitches bits of itself back together. A few bald spots foll with freshly regrown hair. There’s a smug sort of satisfaction as the Smeargle goes down. If she disliked anyone, it was trolls.

The cat doesn’t buy those crocodile tears. It wasn’t like this little shit starter hadn’t moved first. Like a lady in Aristocats, Jangle rarely started fights. But she did not hesitate to finish them. A snort emerged as she took a step closer. A single whorl of smoke poured from her ebony nostrils as her claws emerged from her paw pads.

Just as expected, that pity party ended pretty darn quickly. Up went the weird, painter dog with that gleam in his eyes. Since he didn’t attack, she figured she had something up his sleeves. With a wicked smirk, the cat unleashes all of her heat at the dog in a powerful Blast Burn. The earlier drained HP took the edge off the attack as the hearts on the heads-up display started to blink.

If he wanted to plagiarize her every move, maybe it was time to use stuff that didn’t hurt. And, hey, that rest period went both ways.
