Something less ethereal but equally horrifying emerged: a tentacular disaster that looked like a creature from the deep. It almost seemed to distort the air with its fierce psychic power, pulling all minds into its gravity.

Mage wanted it.

"Tim, go," he whispered. Like incense, the Gastly rushed forward, suffocating the Malamar in a cloud of purple gas, irradiating it with a Hypnosis that came from all over it like a cloud. Reaching into his sweater, his golden rings flashing, Mage flung a Pokeball at the drowsy creature!

Capture attempt!

Ghostly lights cast an eerie glow on the place; a Lampent had descended upon the tombs.

Mage paid it no heed, simply leaning back onto a comfy gravestone. The dead needed time to find their way. So did he, but perhaps after a rest.

"It's nice, isn't it?"

It might look like Mage was muttering to nobody in particular, but what most people couldn't see was Clarence the Drakloak wrapped invisibly around his neck like snakeskin. The water here felt familiar to them; it tasted of the dead. Things murmured underneath its surface, drawn to the haunted mountain standing in the fog.

Why would Mage keep coming back to the undead even after escaping Ecruteak City? Perhaps, after having been steeped in it for so long, it had become part of him too. Maybe he didn't know the extent to which the other side had sunk its claws into him. Was he fighting a futile battle, trying to exorcise himself, not knowing the priest is also the ghoul?

Biscotti Kingsley

Mage's Pokemon told him that the spirits had torn a hole in the sky.

He whistled as he saw the pink-purple mist bleeding out of a gash in the clouds, pouring out onto Mount Chimney. This was the sort of stuff he'd heard would happen if he didn't ascend to the post of medium. But those monks were wrong - were they?

Things were becoming so unhinged Mage wasn't sure anymore.

But still, Mage felt himself pulled forward like something in the fog was dragging him along by a fishing rod. A pulse throbbed in the air, worming into his heart, where it lodged like siren song. Tim, his Gastly, faded in and out of view, enshrouding Mage in his own mist so that he could anchor him to this world.

Mage sniffed. The air smell like herbs and incense. It smelled familiar.

And then, a crunch on the gravel behind him. Mage spun about ponderously to see a man with skin and hair so white he might have crawled out of the abyss himself.

"What do you smell?" Mage asked. He looked intrigued and concerned.

A Shedinja floated out from a mouldy patch, and Mage wondered if it was poetry that one haunted shell should bump into another here. He nodded respectfully and let the creature pass by, maybe pass on.

SKIP!

Smoke trailed off from the stick in between Mage's lips, merging into the general haze that enshrouded Mount Pyre. All around them were the ashes and spirits of the dead. And somehow, it was where Mage felt most at home. This was the place that reminded him most of Ecruteak City. Try as he might, Mage crawled back time and time again to his familiar haunting ground. What was it his psychologist used to say?

The mind circles around the memory, punctured by the compulsive urge to return.

INFORMATION

Mage (Malcolm by birth but you don't call him that) is a chaotic witch man who escaped from a ghost medium/trafficking ring cult in Ecruteak. He had been gaslighted by the cult into thinking that he was a chosen one who had to become a medium or burn in hell; it was only through training up his own ghost Pokemon who were loyal to him that he gained protection from the cult's tactics, and helped him become aware that the cult was using their own ghosts to manipulate his perception of reality. Now, Mage has escaped to Hoenn with his parents and settled down reasonably well, but who knows when the cult will come knocking?

RELATIONSHIPS

Friends
Mage is sociable and spicy in crowds. He is smooth as whiskey and down to have a good time. He is also a great loyal friend and will go fighting even if his friends don't want him to. Because he spent so much time being confined and tricked into thinking he was becoming a vessel for the other side, Mage goes hard and strong, facefirst into pleasure with a vengeance. Despite this, he also fully believes in the occult - things like incense, crystals and talismans.

Enemies
Obviously, he hates the cult that tried gaslighting him into becoming their new puppet. I would love to explore if said cult has some connections to Rocket, being drug/Pokemon traffickers and all.

Romantic
Mage is totally down to hook up and get nasty. He loves boys. However, he's not settling down any time soon - something about losing himself in casual pleasure to make up for his lost years.
