WHAT IS AMIGO?



WITH SUMMER AT ITS PEAK, an indie company has developed its own sort of social app called AmiGo to encourage folks to get more social with one another. The purpose isn't solely for dating, as this can be used as a sort of friend finder, battle partner search, and for the more salacious folks, a hookup app.[break][break]

Whatever the use, each message falls encrypted to avoid any sort of security breach and swears to uphold the privacy of each of its users, a comfort to many after the controversies surrounding the dating simulator game, RONDEZ-VIEW OF LUV. There's truly no catch to this, just someone's push to get people out there and live a little for the summer. Messages and meetups are highly encouraged to those who give a positive response![break][break]

To those who wish to participate, this is meant to be an extremely lax event that encourages reaching out to other people and characters, sort of spicing things up!


HOW TO PARTICIPATE[break] & REWARDS



TO THOSE WHO WISH TO PARTICIPATE, create an AmiGo profile in the AmiGo sub-board. The thread title should include the tag (AMIGO). SWIPING RIGHT is how your character confirms a match, while SWIPING LEFT is basically a way to say your character declines/is not interested. [break][break]

Please make sure to keep a LOG OF SWIPES YOU HAVE MADE WITH YOUR CHARACTER(S) for REWARD purposes! Below is a guide listed for those who wish to participate and the rewards that can be earned when participating:[break][break]

5 SWIPES will earn your character x1 SPARKLING DUST that can immediately be added to their PC.[break][break]
10 SWIPES will earn your character x1 INCENSE that can immediately be added to their PC.[break]

As the Regirock began to charge up, Sven quickly withdrew his Slowking and swapped it out with his Aron. While the creature wasn't much in size, it was the only thing that he could do to withstand the damage. Shalin was far too out of reach for the effects to take hold, but Sven knew he could at least save one person and that was Elise. He made a mad dash with his Aron in close pursuit. The Regirock was about to blow, and Sven knew that well.

"Toro! Use protect!"

As he called out the command, a shield like barrier encased the two the very second rock and other shrapnel came their way. It seemed all the Aron could do to keep the blast contained among the two trainers and the pokemon they had drawn out. Though Sven saw the way Shalin and Sandy were sent flying from the impact. Once everything was safe, Toro collapsed and Sven withdrew the Aron once more. With haste, he reached Shalin and knelt down to feel a pulse. She was breathing, but her condition wasn't exactly what he'd call stable.

He drew out Slowking once more and allowed the hippo like creature to use Heal Pulse in an attempt to help alleviate some of Shalin's injuries, even treating her fainted Flygon. It seemed this final trip had been enough for the ranger, and Sven could only feel a twinge of regret that he hadn't been able to reach her in time. But he knew beating himself up over this fact was pointless, because at least he was able to protect Elise. As Spock the Slowking attempted to treat the ranger, Sven bent down and grabbed what stones were sent flying. In the light, he saw that they were made up of varied minerals. With what he could gather fitted into his bag, he figured that it would be a worthwhile thing to discover.

Who knew if the Regirock was defeated? There was nothing else that lingered besides a few stones. Sven doubted it, but that was a thought he'd save for another day. Once Spock was done, Sven stepped over to Shalin's body and picked up the pokeball she had for her Flygon and withdrew the fainted creature, then carefully tucked the ball back into Shalin's belt. He struggled a bit, but he got her unconscious body into a seated position, the feat a little difficult given, with all due respect, the ranger was nothing short of dead weight at that moment in time. Sven hunched down and got Shalin's arms over his shoulders and looked over to Elise for further help in getting Shalin's legs hiked up so he could carry her.

"Elise, do you think you can help me get Shalin on my back? There's no way she's getting up anytime soon, we might wanna get her to a hospital once we get out of here. Those burns look pretty severe and time is of the essence."

Ah, he hadn't meant to hit a nerve with the idol upon the statement of avatars. While he himself didn't seem too focused on the idea that a pokemon of legend might recognize him as worthy or not didn't seem to bother him all that much. All that mattered to him is that his own team of pokemon and the friends he made along the way viewed him as worthy. His hand rested on the table before Melody, palm upturned so if she felt so inclined, the two could hold hands for a brief moment while he spoke his peace -- Sven always felt a little bit of physical contact helped take the edge off of frank words. But then again, he didn't really register personal space all too often.

"They say the things you want only come when you're not focused on them," he started off. "You don't need a legendary pokemon to recognize you to feel that you're worthy as a trainer or even as a person. Cobalion may warm up to you one day, but understand the Swords of Justice are very wary of humans. I don't think it's anything with you, I simply think Cobalion just needs to learn to trust."

He hoped the words had been enough to offer some clarity to the idol. If not, he felt no regret for speaking his peace. His hand slipped back over to his own side and soon enough, their drinks and Sven's muffin had arrived. Bit by bit, he pulled at the treat and gave an 'mmm!' of approval. It was nice and warm with the faintest taste of butter that lingered mixed in with the fresh blueberries. As much as he enjoyed the treat however, his motions fell short as the question posed itself about Team Rocket. For a moment, he seemed to contemplate on this. But as his brows bunched together, it was obvious his opinion didn't feel welcomed to the idea.

"Can I be honest? They pose too much of a threat. Even the ones that have begun to funnel out still pose a threat, in my opinion. I feel they joined Rocket for a reason, and them leaving is just a way for us to let our guards down. I don't think anyone should have to die, but..."

It was hard for him to finish the thought. To openly say he felt that any threat should be eradicated made him feel as though he wasn't any better than Team Rocket itself. His gaze fell upon the table as he let out a sharp exhale. His hands, despite how they rested on his lap, gripped into fists as he dug into the fabric of his pants as he tried to put his further thoughts into words.

"I don't understand the reason behind Team Rocket, and maybe that's why I'm so frustrated with them. They're just a bunch of pawns in a game of attrition, operating under someone's ego trip. What benefits do they have for doing wrong? Sure, the League has done some questionable things, but they do it for the better. They want to save Hoenn by any means necessary, and I think it's noble that they're fighting to save the region we've all decided to call home."

As if on cue, the two grass cats came tumbling out of Sven's bedroom as if play fighting with one another. Silly Putty slinked after them at a slower place and warbled a bit frustratedly so, as the two seemed to be fighting over a toy ball that Sven kept for his pokemon. The two had taken the ball from the poor Ditto and it tried desperately to get it back. At the commotion, Sven stood up and grabbed the ball from the twin Sprigatitos and wiggled it a bit. The bell in the ball jingled about as he did.

"Hey guys, we have a visitor!"

Indica's ears perked up first as it looked past Sven and soon made a slow stride to go greet Saskia. Sativa was a bit quicker as it zoomed in and jumped onto the couch beside the brunette and rubbed enthusiastically against her arm. Sven laughed at the sight and threw the ball to Silly Putty to allow the Ditto some time to play. It warbled a bit, much more happy to have its toy back. As it gripped onto the ball with its stubby hands, Sven picked the Ditto up and carried it in.

"Seems they're all pretty excited to see you, too! Say, how's Grim doing? You get him to mellow out yet?"

He knew Kirin was a bit more mellow compared to Maugrim. But then again, sometimes an earthquake felt more mellow than the Lycanroc. Sven sat on the floor and held his Ditto in his lap, allowing the pink blob to toss the ball in its arms a bit more, even picking it up when the creature didn't quite catch it.

With the reassurance things would be safe in the museum, Sven couldn't help but give a nod. That was enough for him. But he couldn't help but notice the way the grey haired archivist seemed to recoil a bit. Had he said something out of place? Brows furrowed a bit in frustration as he let out a sigh. Right, it's not like the League was innocent in its own acts. Both sides had questionable means. How many lives had been lost in the crossfire? More importantly, how many had the parties lost to each side in terms of turncoating? Sven pinched the bridge of his nose to ease the pressure that found its way to his forehead and looked to Memphis.

"Sorry, it's just... They go out of their way to do misdeeds. And for what? Greed? Power?" he began to reason. "Not that the League is any better. We've been housing people who were once loyal to Rocket's cause and excusing actions of higher leveled figureheads because we can't afford to lose them..."

Some actions weren't excused, case in point being Josh Devlin's prior temporary suspension from his duties as a gym leader. It's not a story he'd heard both sides of, and given he viewed Josh as a fair ally, he didn't want the image he had in his head of the man to be painted improperly -- it'd be something he'd have to ask about at a later time.

He'd nearly forgotten about the back and forth his Rampardos and Memphis' Zangoose seemed to have. While the Zangoose was smart to go after smaller swarms, Rampardos continued to take out larger opponents. Perhaps it wanted to prove something -- that power was better than speed. Both were necessary in the end, but Zircon was adamant that its sheer power would be the best. With an Ancient Power, it sent a handful of Geodudes flying to try and level its numbers with Freddy. But it seemed the Zangoose was a bit more ahead of the curve.

"What exactly are you trying to look for? Are there certain exhibits you want to add to in the museum? Or did you want to build up your own exhibit?"

A wide grin plastered itself upon Sven's face as he eagerly nodded. That was definitely who he met. Maybe there was some pride in the fact that the ranger was considerably one of his best friends, but it hadn't quite sunk in that Memphis knew exactly who he was talking about. Sure, he seemed to push that fact aside, but it just took him a little bit to register it. By the time he had scarfed the rest of his burger and wiped his hands clean with a napkin, the realization hit him like a freight train that went right off the rails and barreling towards the aspiring scientist.

"WAIT YOU KNOW SASKIA TOO?!"

His excited shout startled even his own pokemon. Sven practically leaped out of his chair to the point that the foldable seat went flying over. His empty paper plate fell to the ground and he stood there in a surprise that could only be properly described as excited. Eyes grew wide and his smile grew wider.

"Why didn't you think to ask her?! She'd be a great guide for you! Maybe at some point we could go on an outing together!"

The idea of two old friends bringing along their newfound friend sounded promising. Besides, if Memphis was looking for things that would be worthwhile to put into a museum, Sven was likely to find things that would be worthwhile to present as a means of research. The only thing would be getting in touch with Saskia once she had some free time. Well, that is if Memphis had any interest. Sven bent down to pick up his plate off the ground and his chair, then carefully took a seat on it once more.

"Think it over! I'm sure it'd be a lot of fun!"

It seemed Lathiel had ripped into its own trainer as well. Sven furrowed his brows. Perhaps it was best to put the ultra beast killer aside for now. It would make things harder for them to escape if it continued to lash out at the trio. His own arm still hurt from the creature's lashing out. Though to make matters worse, it seemed a Regirock had found its way into their territory. Sven stepped back to get a better view of the cobbled colossus. Eyes grew wide as he noted the varied stones that made it up. Was this truly the same Regirock that they were familiar with?

A breath escaped from his lips as he hesitated briefly. How were they expected to take that thing down? Brows furrowed as he attempted to think it over. Eyes shut tight as he attempted to plan something out in his head. With Shalin's sygna suit, he could hope that even despite injury, she could use her Flygon to attempt and sever the arms of the Regirock. Now that Elise had her Naganadel drawn out, he figured the bug looking creature could go for the legs. If they timed things right, it just might work and they could break the creature apart and make a run for it.

"Shalin! Use Flygon to take out its arms! Elise! Use Beelze to aim for its legs! If we can rip this creature apart bit by bit, we might stand a chance!"

Sven could only hope the plan would work. From there, he could sample some of the rock that made the creature up, and they could make a run for the exit. For now, he'd serve as the distraction. With his Slowking drawn out, the creature drenched out the Regirock with a Surf. While it didn't do much damage, it seemed to slow the creature down exponentially. With water weighing its rock body down, he could only hope the others would play their part in a timely fashion.

The biggest threat right now that I can see is the varied avatarship. While it's a blessing to most, legendary pokemon will pick people regardless of their standing, and their powers can be used for good or evil -- or for selfish purposes when it comes down to it. While I wouldn't mind coming across a legendary one day, I don't think it's upon us humans to bond with them in the form of partnership as we run the risk of corroding our own bodies and minds -- do you think the same happens for the legendaries in question?
