Inaya rolled her eyes. The bleeding-heart-heroism and ranger-chivalry bullshit front only added to her irritation. She really wanted to tell her to shove off, but her espeon seemed to be telling her not to. Lalu looked at Inaya with gleaming eyes as he wove around her ankles, his fur tickling her bare legs. He seemed really interested in the newcomer. But was he feigning interest, or was it genuine? Either way, his intuition was never wrong, and it wouldn't hurt to find out a little more.

"Fun, huh?" she mocked. "How can riding a bug-type pokemon be fun?" Inaya could think of hundreds, nay, thousands of things that would be more fun than being on the back of a Beedrill. Getting a blistering sunburn was one, and divining for a party of debutante twelve-year-old girls was another. She chewed the inside of her cheek and twirled a lock of purple hair around her index finger. Her eyes narrowed before she said, "Don't tell me you ride pokemon other than your Beedrill, too. And don't tell me there are others who do this insane thing, too." Were the people of Hoenn this stupid, she wondered.

When the Beedrill took off, Inaya clutched her hair ornament as its enormous wings whipped up a breeze. Inaya sighed and looked off into the grass, a bored expression overcoming her face. It seemed they'd be stuck together until that massive Beedrill came back.

"Inaya," she replied.

When the Glimmora appeared, Inaya pointed to it with a smirk. Perfect type advantage for us; this'll be over quickly, she thought. Spoink responded to Inaya's hand gesture by coiling her tail tightly in preparation for the coming attack. "Gem, it'll be a cakewalk! Use Psyshock!" 

As her pokemon unleashed its attack, Inaya threw a pokeball after it. She hoped it would hit the wild Glimmora in the aftermath of the psychic-type move and capture the beast.

Deciding to make the most of her stay around Rustboro City, Inaya headed toward RT 115. Gem, her Spoink, hadn't had any training recently, and Inaya figured it would do the young pokemon some good to stretch her-- erm, tail.

Lalu was perched on Inaya's shoulders, his hind legs balancing on the top of her backpack. Gem bounced before her, standing on the edge of the tall grass and looking expectantly at Inaya.

"Lalu will help you if you get into a pinch, but I think you'll be fine," she told the little pokemon as her eyes scanned the foliage for movement. "Alright, Gem, let's see what we can find."

She heard the loud droning noise long before she had seen its source. It was irritating--the incessant buzzing--and it was distracting her from reading. Inaya wished to ignore it, and she certainly tried, but it grew louder and louder with each passing moment. Inaya looked at Lalu, and he seemed to be in the same state of mind; his ears twitched angrily, and he had stopped grooming. Absolutely not. This isn't gonna fly, nuh uh.

Inaya, tilting her head to listen, figured that it was likely a wild bug-type pokemon making all of the racket, as they were wont to do. Inaya knew that if it was a bug-type pokemon, she might have trouble dealing with it, given her psychic-type team. Deciding that the quickest way to get back to their peace and quiet with the smallest amount of effort would be to scare it off without getting up. She drew in a large breath, preparing to scream. That, she wagered, would rid the area of any pesky wild pokemon that otherwise might ruin her day. She felt smug, her lungs full of air.

"For the love of--," she began to shout, but all of her breath left her instantly. A massive shiny beedrill was barreling straight at her. Not only that, there was a person riding the beedrill?!

The next few seconds found Inaya and Lalu diving into the grass to avoid the careening beedrill.

"Were you trying to kill me?!" she screamed from the tall grass, her headpiece askew. As she rose, her eyes burning with fire, she saw the green-haired trainer's Type: Null going after a Granbull; only then did Inaya become aware of the Granbull that had been sneaking up on her. She felt cross with herself for not having noticed it before, for having to be rescued, and she directed the anger at the beedrill rider.

She brushed off her clothes. "No thanks to you," she spat in reply. If the trainer had been expecting thanks, she never was going to get it.

As she set her hair ornament back into place, Lalu poked his face around Inaya's legs. He looked at the newcomers curiously, and Inaya noticed.

"Why are you riding that thing out here, anyway? No, hell, why are you riding it at all?" she asked, disdain dripping from her words. Inaya couldn't deny it; she was interested in this very large and very unusual beedrill, but she wasn't going to give the trainer the satisfaction of knowing that, on top of rescuing her.

Inaya was enjoying the fresh air and sunshine of Hoenn. It wasnt't something she took note of often back home, but today, in her new region, she wasn't going to take it for granted. She had ordered a takeout sandwich for her and Lalu, her Espeon, to share on an impromptu picnic on Route 112, and the two were going to make the most of the day.

Her beloved Lalu was lounging in a tuft of grass while Inaya sat next to him, reading a book on scapulimancy. Her bag was laid next to her, and she had half of her sandwich resting on her thigh. Lalu had eaten his portion, and he was busy primping himself after the satisfying meal.

Resting her book in her lap, she remarked, "Hey, wouldn't it just suck if someone came by?" Lalu replied with his charming call, and Inaya smirked. "But that's why I chose Route 116-- most people are cowards and don't want to go through Rusturf Tunnel, so it should be pretty deserted. We should be fiiine!"

She picked up her book once more, and Lalu resumed grooming.

When Inaya had caught wind of a mawile swarm, she had made her way to the Granite Cave. As much as she hated to admit it, she thought mawile were secretly adorable, and she thought it would make a good addition to her team. Simultaneous cute and vicious? Sign her up! Who doesn’t like a Pokémon who reflects its trainer?

Lalu her espeon bounded ahead of her, his twin tails twitching in anticipation. He looked over his shoulder at her, his eyes glinting mischievously. Inaya knew he could sense the mob of mawile within the cave, and she sent a silent prayer that they wouldn’t run into any trouble. Or anyone else, for that matter. Inaya wasn’t in a particularly helpful mood—as if she ever was—and she wasn’t about to help any prissy princess struggling with the swarm. She grinned to herself as she thought of some poor soul under a pile of mawile. Now that would be something worth seeing even if she didn’t catch a mawile.

She entered the cave after Lalu, the amused grin still on her face.
