The Pidgeot needed no word; seeing what had happened while the Shiftry was preoccupied with the spookie-adjacent Pokémon (was it a Pokémon? It… it kind of reminded him of the mechanical Hydreigon-adjacent one he owned) and was now ready to drop everything to attack when the Pelipper yelled at the Pidgeot to leave the mist to him; as a Hurricane microburst attempted to funnel the mist away from the two.

The other avianid Pokémon then literally came screaming forward; spreading her wings wide before attempting to intercept the attack with a Wing Attack of her own.

Maybe it was a good thing that Normal-types were immune to Ghost-type moves; all things considered…?

Idun continued to scream all manner of bloody murder at the Flutter Mane (not that he knew what it was called) while he immediately rushed over to help his partner get back on his feet.

“Th-the fuck did that come from?!” he exclaimed, attempting to help the other stand up.

The way his voice was fluctuating between the warm, familiar dulcet tones the other had gotten accustomed to and the harsh, cold, razor-blade sharp intonation he’d adopted as the pain continued to wreak havoc in the back of his head was all the more apparent…

“You know,” he continued in that same, quiet, dangerous little hiss, “…if he wasn’t so damned-ass weak and needed my help I’d have left, after what happened. Protect him from you, from the cowardice, the betrayal, the—”

Another hot flash of pain wracked his head; before he swung his head around violently, as if trying to shake something away.

“H-help,” the familiar voice would plead, grabbing onto the closest part of his partner that he could reach.

“H-help me, M-Memo.”

He was rooted to the spot, trying to squint through the gloom and find where his partner had disappeared off to—the mist really did have ways of fucking over someone’s spatial awareness, to boot.

“Where—” he trailed off, walking forward in a random direction as he tried to listen over the roaring wind; he had an inkling what was making that wind but did not dare think of it because that would have been insanely dangerous…

“C-can you hear me?!” he yelled, cupping his hands to his mouth so that his voice could carry through the seemingly infinitely-expanding room before them.

His arms are on the move before he could stop himself—some water splashing alerted his mind belatedly that he was moving, before he felt his own pale arms hold onto the other man, afraid of letting go.

If the other was sharp enough to notice, even his hold was shaking ever so slightly.

“I’m… I’m having… having a h-hard time trying n-not to break d-down, you know,” he breathed out quietly as he allowed his partner to get him up and out of the bathtub… if his legs would cooperate.

The warm water felt nice, after all.

“B-but… I’ll t-try not to. F-for you.”

“Oh, boy,” he continued; relying on the musical cues to alert him that the scary, frightening shit was coming.

“You three better get the fuck out of there, now, if you know what’s good for you!” he continued, turning around to face the screen and waving a fist at their sheer idiocy.

“Are they really this slow to pick up on the hints that they’re not welcome in the town, or are they just dumbing down the fact that…” he trailed off, before seeing the butcher and letting out a squeal of surprise before turning away because holy shit that was a lot of blood!

The tempting allure of going to bed early was nice, however he realized that there were still a few more papers that he hadn’t finished yet…

“What about the rest of the papers? I-I don’t have that much left to get done,” he asked his partner quietly.

“Moment I go to bed it’s going to be all over, you know,” he added with a very knowing eyebrow waggle.

The Braviary continued to look from one idiot human to another, wondering what the hell they were bellyaching about anyway (not like he could understand human words, but still!) before sneaking a peek at the Banette who was trying not to cackle at the two of them arguing over… clothes.

“…not even if Jove catches you dead in it and chews on a little bit of your tracksuit leg?” he clapped back; unable to add the sass in that last part of the sentence because holy shit, had the other ever replaced those ruined jeans?

He couldn’t remember.

Now that he had his partner in a bridal-style carry, he could relax; while his Sableye acted as a lookout in case they were jumped on.

“Loki here told me something happened. Like, you were sleepwalking? That was like, before I asked him to take me to you,” he explained, giving the cliff notes version.

“Thing is, it looked like you were bumbling around… drunkenly… and I think you almost hit a lamp post or two while you were out here…”

Meanwhile, the Sableye continued to squint into the pervading gloom just beyond where the two humans were having their incredibly cheesy reunion.

“…guess I got to save you this time around, huh?” he cracked; a fantastically failed attempt at humor.

He could only blink, and stare at his partner like a madman possessed.

Without a second thought, he tore himself from the bed as he made a mad dash towards where the blackout curtains were now rattling on the holder; before whistling a particularly sharp note exactly once before a pair of glittering red eyes winked and appeared from his shadow.

“Loki! Go!” was all he would say next, before his Sableye extracted himself from his idiot human’s shadow and helped the other Sableye with driving away the multitude of Swalot that had unceremoniously decided to appear in their shared bedroom.

“Carina, turn up the perfume!” he added a few moments afterward; and while the Ribombee was pissed for being disturbed from her beauty sleep, a huff and a sigh would crank up the Sweet Scent to an even higher intensity that it already had been applied earlier.

That much, was true. However fact of the matter is, under normal circumstances, he would normally be unable to recall it due to the gaping holes in his memory of that incident.

“Most, but not all of it,” he breathed out, biting back another hot flash of pain that shot through his head.

“Not all of it.”

He steadied himself, taking another breath.

“Y-you left me, and Kaida, to fend for ourselves.”

Another quiet little hiss of pain.

“Is that why. Is that why Gabriel hates you?”

While he’d run straight into the curling pink mist, he thought he heard something—was that the howling of wind? Looking around wildly, he tried to pick out where his partner had vanished off to in the nearby area; however it was too thick to see shit properly…

“Memo? Memo?! Where are you?!” he yelled as he squinted through the pervading gloom; the wind only picking up in strength and intensity the more he stayed rooted to the spot.

“I-I can’t find you!”

Truly, this pink ‘interdream mist’ was extremely wicked, in more ways than one…

(Yes, they would definitely be gay Air Nomads in another universe… but there was no way in hell he was going to shave off all his hair! The terrifying mental vision of him, bald, sobered him up.)

“The other option I thought of, and it may sound really stupid, is to hunt down the source of this stupid mist and eradicate it, once and for fucking all. But I know that’s all for folly,” he huffed, just the tiniest smidge of annoyance crossing his face.

The blush never left his face as he realized his partner was now professing his undying—

“What was that?!” he yelped in surprise as he fell backwards—but regained his balance the moment something came shooting their way.

“Frog? F-frog, what—” he trailed off, watching everything happen in slow motion…

Before he let out a tiny little shriek of his own.

Even if there was thinly-veiled disbelief in his voice, he kept his gaze fixed on his partner’s movements throughout the entire time that he felt the knots in his hair unwind—even the knots he didn’t realize that had built up in the back of his neck as the water washed over him.

“You would… wait, for me…” he breathed out, his gaze still following Memo’s movements—never too far away from the opposite side of the bath tub.

“No matter what it takes, r-right?”

He had to resist the urge to break down right in front of his partner, again, because how many times had he broken down just for today?!
