That damn Kingdra really was turning the tides - both figuratively and literally - in favor of Harper. Caelan damn near fell face first into the water and it was only thanks to Glacier countering the incoming waves from Harper's side that he even managed to keep his footing. Half his left foot dipped into the water as he steadied himself, trying to keep them from slipping off the floatie as he attempted to regain his footing. "Damn, kid." Despite being shoved against a figurative wall by such a runt, Caelan couldn't help but grin as he quickly peeked over his shoulder. "Cocky little shit. You're gonna be my daddy at this rate." His grin only grew wider at Harper's teasing, unable to keep himself from bursting out in laughter as he pushed back once more. It wasn't over until it was over, and Glacier had to agree as she continued to rock the waves with surf.

"Not a kid? Kid, you look like you could be my kid." Rain gently fell onto the arena and Caelan took just a few seconds to glance up at the sky. "Glacier. Time to rock." With an obedient o o r p h she dove just under the surface of the water with her tail raised and began to create waves just high enough to start rocking the floatie they were both on. Between the slipperiness and the rocking of the floatie, Caelan seized another opportunity to push back.

It wasn't hard to see that his competitor was a little nervous. Caelan couldn't blame him - the kid was a bit scrawny and maybe it was a little unfair for the two of them to be matched together. Regardless, Caelan wasn't about to complain about his first opponent in the tournament. He watched Glacier, whose laser focus only served as encouragement for him to kick -- or bump -- some butt.

The cheeky grin that Harper flashed him only served to widen Caelan's. "Good to hear. You and me both, kid." His words were followed up by an o o r f from Glacier as she dove under the water. Caelan casually slid into position, as though this were no different than an assigned hit, and at the sound of a whistle, did he push backwards with all his might.

Caelan sized up his competition: a scrawny kid that he almost felt sorry for; it didn't help that Caelan stood a good six (or so) inches above Harper. But then again, experience had taught him to never underestimate one's opponent, whether it was a showdown to the death, or smashing asses together. Caelan shrugged off his jacket, his muscled body bare save for the tight swim trunks that hugged the curve of his butt. A fire burned in his eyes which signified his determination for the win.

"No hard feelings, right? Let's have fun with this." Despite his earlier musings, he couldn't resist wearing a cocky smirk as he got onto the floatie.

"There, there." As massive as she was, Glacier hid behind Caelan as they watched the Cinderaces kick molten balls to and fro. She had always been fond of balls, but it seemed that she preferred them to not be on fire. His hand went to her head as he side-stepped one of the pyro balls, which slowly extinguished as it rolled to a stop near them. "See? I don't think you could play with those anyway." Glacier extended her head towards the ball with a sad o o r f before she shrunk back behind Caelan.

There was a part of Caelan that missed watching soccer games. Entire stadiums lit up with roaring cheers, each match as exciting as a gym battle in the Galar region! It seemed that the owner of the pyro ball decided to approach Caelan, and it was then that Caelan decided to pull a pokeball out of his belt, and tossed it at the pokemon.

Caelan felt comfortable in the hustle and bustle of the carnival, reminiscent of the busy and ever-active life in Castelia City. There was a certain sense of calm, and a painful one of longing, as he strode between families and trainers. For some reason, he was attracting gazes and comments, particularly from young children, and Caelan had no idea why. Had they never seen a Goomy before?

Gelato was perched atop his head, her gelatanous body swaying to and fro with every step Caelan took. Given her soft coos of excitement, Caelan was glad that he was not alone in his enjoyment of the fair. It was only when she began to wiggle and wobble excitedly that Caelan gave his attention to one of the stands. There was a large pool of water and as he drew closer, Caelan could see that it was the Magikarp swimming about lazily that caught Gelato's attention. "You want a closer look?" Caelan asked as he knelt down at the edge of the pool. He felt Gelato's weight shift forward as though bowing towards the water as a few curious Magikarp drew closer to stare at the curious blob.

"I SPENT $100 ON THIS GAME AND GOTTEN NOTHING BUT GARBAGE."

A shrill shriek caused the Magikarp to suddenly scatter, even disrupting the customers who had their lines cast in the water. Caelan barely had time to hold out his hands to catch Gelato before she took a tumble into the water. Oh no. He knew this type of person. He rose to his feet to evaluate the situation -- his heart went out to the woman's kid, who had probably already learned that trying to drag his mother away from such a situation was useless. Then there was the carnival fair worker, who Caelan knew wasn't paid enough to deal with this lady's shit. And then a goody-two-shoes security officer and her trusty sidekick trying her best to get the woman to stand down.

"Hey. Lady." Caelan's voice was eerily calm as he strode towards her, a trembling Gelato in his arms. "The only problem I'm seeing here is you." He stood next to the security officer to back her up, his piercing eyes narrowed ever so slightly. People like these always had a louder bark than a strong bite, and Caelan had experience dealing with people who actually knew how to throw a punch.

If nothing else, Caelan would probably have an overabundance of pokeballs by the time this little carnival was over. Was he complaining? Perhaps a little. But if he had time to complain, then he had time to dive.

Well. That'll teach Caelan not to get too big for his britches. Still, it feels good to dive again even if his lung capacity certainly shrunk in the time he spent away from the sea. He took a breather on the surface of the water by floating on his back and soaked in the sensation of hot sunshine and refreshing ocean water. It really was good to be home.

Well. Time to get back at it. He needed to get something good out of this, right?

Ah summer. It was a good time to be back. Though he had spent a lot of time in Unova, a part of him always remained with the sea. He had taken some time to watch his "competition", so to speak, and frankly? Not impressed. Bah. Kids these days.
