his feet drag across the ground, carrying him all the way through the encampment until he finds the grunt on the ground with their mangled leg, bleeding out and barely conscious. their eyes open the moment he nears them followed by grunts of pain.[break][break]

startled, dane raises a finger to his lips, but that does nothing.[break][break]

"be quiet."[break][break]

but it's no use. whatever little cover he has is blown. the WALKING WAKE turns back around, drawn to the sound, but by the time it rushes back over, dane, much like his cacturne in a SANDSTORM, has disappeared.[break][break]

he feels little, having no prior connection to the grunt, but there is a sliver of guilt that lodges into his armor.[break][break]

even from afar, he can hear the pained grunts and whimpers coming from the man on the ground. his expression falls slightly, though his mask keeps his feelings to himself.[break][break]

dane isn't used to this. he's used to burying the dead and making sure their resting grounds are maintained and respected.[break][break]

an area of the SANDSTORM lessens, fading enough to showcase the copy of Rhys Collins running away. and sure enough, the swarm follows.
