All the news about the other gyms and their leaders was very informative to Zachary. He didn't know all of them but it was fun to see that Elise Calcifet was also running her own. It was hard to imagine due to her being so busy with her royal duties and family responsibilities. Especially now... [break][break] It was fun to learn what kind of challenges were there-- and not just about battling. It was far more in depth with that. If Zachary wanted to form his own gym, he was going to have to give serious thought how he would do it all. [break][break] It was then that he was given the options: To battle and race. However, only one could count to a badge. If he failed one challenge for a badge, he'd have to wait over a month to challenge him again for it. Zachary finally paused the maelstrom of thoughts in his head, took a deep breath and began to think. His hand was pursed upon his chin as he thought, giving careful consideration to what he wanted to do. All the while, Dizzy cocked his head to his trainer, wondering what he wanted to do. [break][break] After some time, Zachary stopped and looked to Josh with more determination than he had before. "I do want to battle you-- but I will do so as an unofficial challenge," Zachary said. "I want you to really assess me for my potential as a Gym Leader at the moment. It is something I really care about and would appreciate your guidance with it. This way you can gauge my potential, especially for the minor league at least. "Zachary explained, honestly wanting to learn more how he himself could become a Gym Leader. Dizzy looked pleased, glad that Zachary was giving it serious thought. [break][break] "After that, we can do the nontraditional challenge you want for the badge. While I do want to be a Gym Leader too, I also want to still rank up in the league, and earning badges is the only way to earn proper experience. So, that's it. Even so, I hope to continue growing in the league even as a Gym Leader. " Zachary explained, hoping to get his point across. Despite anything, getting the badges and challenging the best trainers, the Elite Four and so on-- was every trainer's goal to prove their skills. Zachary was no exception. [break][break]

Zachary and Dizzy followed the next path that led to Rustboro city. While not an ideal place for Zachary due to the industrial setting there, it was a major hub for pokemon gear and shops. He could of taken a train but he heard rumors of fun and interesting Pokemon who would frequent this area. The psychic trainer and his Delphox continued on their way, taking in the weather, the feeling of the ground beneith their feet and the adventures that were ahead of them...  [break][break] Dizzy would walk along with his stick in hand, practicing his waving of it as if he was trying to cast so0me kind of crazy spell. Zachary just chuckled as he saw his foxy friend play. It was always funny.

Zachary was a bit more familiar with Dizzy's dramatic, cartoonish drawings. He at least could tell it was Raichu by the ears and tail. The conclusion of the drawings made Dizzy a little mad as the fox turned to Josh, and gave the Gym Leader one of his famous, foxy 'disapproving' leers. [break][break] At least he didn't smack talk about who the Raichu was in the drawing. [break][break] Josh's thought of making choppier water, Zachary disagreed. "No.. that would only make the little rodent happier. Come on, think. The ideal place is to get him off the water and on to dry land. At least there he can't easily manipulate the terrain. " Zachary suggested as he thought, pacing around the area, and the Pokemon around following him with their gaze. "If we can trick him to get close enough, we can box him in." [break][break] Zachary soon stopped at his Xatu, Prophet. He knelt down and looked to the bird. "Xatu, trap or no trap, do you think you could battle Raichu well?" Zachary asked, suspecting his Shadow Ball could be handy. [break][break] The bird Pokemon stared at Zachary. Sadly being a flying type, he'd be a roast chicken in the face of lightning. Foreseeing the disadvantage and result, Xatu paused and gave an answer...[break][break] Zzzzzzzz... Xatu suddenly fell asleep, entering his little dream states that he did, or perhaps to avoid the question all together. [break][break] Zachary fell over in the sand, disappointed by his Pokemon's apathetic response. [break][break] "Great... Calypso," Zachary called as he got back up, "What about you. Since your super smart maybe you have some ideas--?" [break][break] She too knew water pokemon didn't stand a chance, even for the Sage of the Sea-- and thus was now lounging on her side, seemingly napping too. [break][break] Zachary fell back down again. "FOR PSYCHIC TYPES, YOU GUYS SURE ARE SMART-ASSES!" Zachary shouted, and then sighed, realizing they didn this for good reasons... [break][break] Dizzy, Happy and Spriggatito looked on in mild concern at Zachary's disappointment. They didn't have any Pokemon that could make a net or anything-- but there was the chance they could make their own to catch him. Happy too was an option, as he could make Reflect and Lightscreens-- invisible barriers to keep Raichu contained. An idea did start to form, as they would make a make-shift net out of whatever was around. "We should try to build a net, something to keep that Raichu from just speeding away so easily. We can also use Dizzy's psychic move to manipulate it or the surroundings to catch him. But we need materials..." Zachary thought. [break][break] Zachary turned back to his Xatu, now snoring with a little bubble coming out of his beak. "Prophet. Prophet, wake up!" Zachary said, snapping his fingers. Xatu shot his eyes open, now alert. "I need you to go into the island and try to find vines. Do you mind looking for me, please?" he asked. [break][break] Shaking his feathers to wake up, Xato soon gave a soft flap of his wings and took to the air, to travel to the jungle up the cliff of the sandbar. [break][break] He then turned to the other water pokemon, who had been observing Zachary and Josh from the shallows. Zachary moved closer and leaned down to talk to them. "As for you guys, I have a favor to ask. Can you swim down to the ocean floor and bring us back seaweed? Alot of it. As much as you can carry? If you want to stop Raichu, we need a lot of things that will get him tangled up. Okay? Zachary asked.[break][break] The water Pokemon took a moment, but soon enthusiastically began to cheer, as if to agree with Zachary's plan. Some began to swim away-- presumably to gather the seaweed. [break][break]

"Ow! Dizzy!" Zachary scolded, making the fox give a leer to tell the trainer to not be so nervous. [break][break] The information about the minor league excited Zachary. There was a training program of sorts for it? That gave him far more hope to join in, and if it worked out, he could aspire to be a real gym leader among the higher league. It sounded perfect for him. Even Dizzy could read his trainer's excitement. "Wow! That sounds perfect! It be great for me to gain experience like that too. I mean, I still bet you need proper experience and be allowed for it," Zachary questioned, but still felt very good about this. [break][break] Zachary definitely wanted to become a Gym Leader for the Minor Leagues, but felt he still needed to work on earning at least his first badge. To garner the experience required to BE a proper gym leader. No matter his intention, he needed to learn more. [break][break] "Well honestly, I like the idea of both-- battling you and the idea of a race is fun. Do all gyms have such unusual challenges?" Zachary asked as he calmly put his hands in his jacket pocket. "I honestly don't know what to start? One hand, I do wanna battle you, but the race seems relevant to the point you want to test me for the badge? What would you recommend?" Zachary offered. He would be willing to let Josh pick one or the other-- or both! [break][break]

As the two birds got along, Zachary sat there and tried to keep calm. The sight of Rabsca rolling its sphere in the air was somewhat tranquil while Swadloom conversed with Happy. It was like a party of Pokemon as they all played and interacted. At Shalin's question, Zachary took a deep breath to try and explain. "Well, besides being stung by a Weevile once-- and chased by a Beedrill, not yours," Zachary began as he tried to think carefully how he worded things. He looked to Rabsca, being the one he was more nervous to be around out of the ones he had caught. "A long time ago, I was made to watch this movie-- and showed how certain insects behave. A person was once covered in bugs, crawling over them like an attack and then..." Zachary flashed back to a movie where a person was eaten alive by beetles. A shiver traveled through Zachary at that memory. "Bugs just make my skin crawl a bit... but I know I can't feel that way cause they are not bad. But I know some bugs are carnivorous or violent and it doesn't help that some are--" [break][break] And Shalin soon brought out the poisonous Centepede! [break][break] "--POISONOUS!" he shouted again, rolling backwards in fright. [break][break] Dizzy leered at Zachary, but soon was interrupted by Greed the Haunter. He found his reaction hilarious and Haunter just laughed, shaking and his disembodied hands clutching his 'gut'. [break][break] Zachary frowned as he was on the grass again-- soon caught sight of a friendly-looking creature. He was soon aware it was another bug! A Ribombee, but this one was rather cute. It simply flew overhead and looked at Zachary, curious and almost friendly as the little creature hovered around, seemingly friendly. [break][break] "Um... hello there?" Zachary greeted the fly. The Ribombee seemed to 'smile' and blink as it waved its little arms, greeting Zachary. Zachary reached up to kindly pet it, but it playfully flew away, engaging with the other Pokemon around. [break][break] That one, didn't scare him-- though of course bugs like Shalin's Scolipede did. [break][break] By now, Rabsca wanted to be nearer to Zachary. The mysterious beetle floated closer to Zachary, as if trying to communicate with him. Zachary looked to the beetle but couldn't understand it. Swadloon and Happy too joined in, wanting to see what Rabsca wanted. Even among them, the Psychic/Bug hybrid was a bit mysterious... [break][break]

The dream was a blur. For the moment, he didn't know others were there! He was in a part where he was isolated and saw his own pokemon. However, he did see another Pokemon that he didn't recognize! Another one in the vat. He couldn't tell if they were dead or alive but he choose to believe the former, or he wouldn't survive his own heartache. However he saw one odd one he didn't recognize A small blue little Pokemon with two tails, asleep in the vat-- with a pretty red jewel on its head. He had seen that Pokemon somewhere before... not in person but a drawing or carving. He knew it was important as he placed a hand on the glass there, as if feeling something from the sleeping Pokemon. [break][break] The dream had ended, with he loud awakening of the Wardens' return. He stayed for a moment, his mind trying to catch up-- but only was foggy due to the chains around his neck and mask. He wanted this damn thing off! More Moochi was shoved through the bars. At this point, after all his beatings-- he couldn't afford not to eat anything. [break][break] Regretfully to his better judgement, Zachary took the Moochi and ate as much as he felt willing-- which was a bit more modest than before. They would be stuck here for a long time, so he had to eat. If he didn't he would regret it. He tasted the sweet sensation-- then the curling in his stomach again moments later. [break][break] As they were out of the cell again-- his humiliation didn't stop there. The Okidogi decided to make an example of him AGAIN and dragged him along with others in the group, Kyrenai Black and Lucia Aldrete to lift several Tera Crystals, massive ones. There was also a suspicious orange stone, that might be useful. He remembered the dream, remembered the situation-- that crystal felt a bit odd here, so he couldn't help but eye it with a sense of significance. However, another thing became known to him. So many Tera Crystals around, and that could only be he was in one place. [break][break] Area Zero?[break][break] He did remember now he was exploring it, and perhaps was how he ended up there... [break][break] The bark of demand from the stupid dog got his butt moving as they were forced to lift the crystals. At first, Zachary hesitated. He knew he was not physically strong enough to do it. But they demanded it-- all so they could laugh. Zachary tried to hoist the crystal, pulling the massive blue crystal up-- only for it to barely move from the ground. Most he could do was rock it slightly. Was it the Moochi, or was it just it was THAT heavy? He didn't know anymore as his head felt even more fuzzy and the mask didn't help. [break][break] It was all to make an example of them-- how weak they were, but all that did was make Zachary angry. He couldn't do anything but let his anger continue to build, but he put that to try and lift the stupid crystal. However... an idea came to his head. [break][break] "Psst hey," Zachary tried to whisper to Kyrenai Black and Lucia Aldrete , "Think we should try to lift them together? " Zachary asked, . [break][break] The orange crystal seemed like a suspicious item but could be useful. He looked to @shreddzeppelin . If it was possible, maybe he would catch on too-- and try to break the crystal slowly. [break][break] Zachary didn't know why but he felt that rock there, an unknown factor among the wardens, may be something that could help them gain freedom![break][break] However-- until the others maybe willing to help him, Zachary continued to struggle to move the large crystal, frustrated by his own weakness and the laughter around him. [break][break] His frustration showed as he kicked the crystal, angry all the same. [break][break][break][break]

"Actually, I think its the other way around," Zachary said, seeing how unhappy the water pokemon was. He also remembered how the Raichu was acting, being all boasting and provocative. "Remember how he acted? He was showing off. It wasn't just random attacks, he was enjoying his surfing. I think the water Pokemon are more mad cause he is being reckless and causing waves that throw them around-- and electrocute them when he is showing off. Whether its intentional or not, I can't say..." Zachary said, looking to Dizzy and the other pokemon. [break][break] THe other pokemon gave enthusiastic reactions, telling them Zachary was on the money for the Raichu's reckless showboating. [break][break] Zachary raised a brow as Josh began to do a 'web search' on the Ranger Net-- which he didn't know about. "Well Least you got reception out here, since I'm stranded till Cetus is feeling better." Zachary replied sarcastically. [break][break] As the pokemon conversed, it became clearer and clearer the Raichu had disrupted life there, probably unintentionally-- which meant it was more important than ever to catch it. It was hard for Zachary to believe the hybrid Psychic type would be that roudy. Then again-- he reminded himself of how willful, entitled and problematic his Kadabra was. They came in all types of personalities. Given anything , Zachary wanted to find a way to catch Raichu himself too. While a pain in their butt-- Alola Raichu would be an amazing Pokemon to his team. [break][break] Zachary soon turned to his own team. "Alright, guys-- we need a good way to try and catch Raichu. Only one way to do it. We gotta set a trap for him. I don't suppose any of you have any ideas?" he asked. [break][break] The other pokemon looked at one another, honestly baffled by the idea. While each possessing their own talents, A Delphox, Mime Jr, Xatu, Slowking, and a Spriggatito made a very odd team assortment that could catch a runaway electric rodent. [break][break]

The Result of Zap Cannon and Blast Burn exchange was indeed intense, both parties suffering mutual blows. Dizzy held on, being a lot tougher than one thought. Either by the experience of being Zachary's partner for years, or the fact his sheer will kept him going. Either way, Dizzy still stood-- at least till BLast Burn's exhaustion kicked in. [break][break] The smoke cleared, revealing that both Zeraora and the mechanical doll Pokemon were down! Zachary looked in amazement, seeing as they were recalled. A flicker of hope showed in Zachary's eyes. [break][break] Though then they were recalled... and were answered by something Zachary didn't expect. A paradox pokemon appeared, and one Zachary had not seen among the ones in the cavern. [break][break] His hope was crushed then as the aquatic paradox dragon appeared along with the Rocket's harsh words. [break][break] The Hydro Pump came, and Dizzy was unable to move! There was nothing that could be done against that! "Dizzy!" Zachary cried as Dizzy was hit square by the violent torrent of water. The blast was so strong, it threw Dizzy back-- and right into Zachary! The two were carried away by the water, crashing into the nearby wall and fell to the ground. Dizzy laid next to Zachary, out for the count. In that moment, his crystalized fur began to glow-- and in that moment, the sheen that once covered the fox, shattered. They became bits of light, returning Dizzy to his normal non-shiny state. The fox let out a groan, clearly spent by both the attack and exerting all his energy into Blast Burn.[break][break] Zachary groaned as he tried to get up, but was knocked flat on his butt and his head ringing. He soon saw as the Walking Wake continued to advance, approaching them even though Dizzy's Terastellization had worn off. [break][break] "We're toast..." Zachary gasped, realizing they were completely outmatched. This Rocket big shot had the rarest pokemon and all of them were insanely strong. Even with this mysterious power up-- he didn't stand a chance. [break][break] This was it. This was the end of their journey. [break][break] "Damnit... It can't end like this..." Zachary grumbled, holding on to Dizzy, wanting to protect his friend. [break][break] [break][break] Zachary's eyes snapped-- a third voice? Where did that come from! [break][break] Suddenly, a chill was in the air, and a cry of some kind. Suddenly, a bright, beam of light struck the space between Zachary and the Walking Wake. Where it hit-- crystals suddenly began to grow! [break][break] Ice! As if some kind of eruption, a barricade of ice formed, keeping Zachary from being hurt. Dizzy barely cracked open an eye, seeing the sudden formation of ice. [break][break] It was then that it came from above. A bouncing figure-- a Glaceon and a rather large one. Astride it, was a figure, as the Glaceon hopped from one rock formation to the next, leaving a sparkling patch of ice where it landed! [break][break] Dazzling, the Glaceon soon landed there in the middle of the battle, revealing the person astride her. [break][break] [break][break] The man hopped off the back of the Glaceon, giving a rather uncooped shake of his body, as if to stretch. He was large, almost 'giant' to Zachary's perspective. He wore rather rugged clothing, like he was some kind of street punk, and a coat with the sleeves rolled up. He had rather spiky blonde hair. All the while, he had a rather broad grin on his face, almost cocky. [break][break] "Heh, well looks like there's a party going on here. Sorry to crash it, but the Hero always does arrive fashionably late." the man said. [break][break] Zachary looked completely dumbfounded, slowly getting up to his feet. "Huh? Who are...?" [break][break] A chuckle came from the man as he gestured with a hand to wave to him. "No sweat, kid. I'm on your side. Leo Winters-- Pokemon Ranger, and 'Hero to all in need' at your service." he said with a drip of arrogance. "Saw you were part of the exploration team, and when you failed to check in-- well, I thought I'd go look around. Not that it was hard to find you. Whooo-boy! Nice fireworks with your fuzzy friend there? Just caught the last bit. You got some moxi, I'll give you that." he went on. [break][break] "Um.... thank you?" Zachary replied, rather caught off guard more from the overly chipper and cocky adult. [break][break] At that point, Leo turned to the direction of the Walking Wake, and presumably the Rocket controlling it. "Anyway... so this is the big, bad Dragon lurking in the caves. Oh, and I don't mean the Walking Wake here. Tell me, what kind of Rocket Big Shot, gets his kicks by picking on little kids? Trying to compensate for something? " Leo retorted with a cocky rebuttle, clearly not keeping his words back with the rocket. [break][break] As if in a show of bravado, he brought up his fists and cracked his knuckles, showing he was eager to battle too. "But hey, if you are itching for a fight so badly... how about you take me on, unless you don't have the balls for it!" he mocked. [break][break] Whoever this guy was, he clearly wasn't easily intimidated, or he was just a cocky beefhead with little sense. Still he came to rescue Zachary, and that was enough to know he wasn't a bad guy. [break][break]

Zachary had to admit, Arron's dark ape was indeed impressive. Between Dizzy and him, they were able to fend off the ghosts and made them disperce, or rather flee. At first, Zachary thought they did their part and proved they were stronger until...[break][break] "Okay... I seen enough 'Dinosaur Pokemon parks gone wrong' parks to know that is not a good sign," Zachary commented as he heard the great big roar. Dizzy's fur was too on end from it. Zachary knew they had to be smart about this too, so retreat in this unknown place was probably the best option. [break][break] Zachary looked to see his Xatu above. "Prophet! Do you see anything? " he cried out, but the Xatu was already coming in-- seemingly startled by something. If the prophet bird had a problem, you knew it was bad. [break][break] Zachary quickly recalled Prophet, and took out the Pokeball belonging to his Kadabra again. [break][break] "Tarot, we need you!" Zachary cried tossing the ball up into the air. The light of the Pokeball released the pokemon... [break][break] TO reveal the Kadabra laid on its arm, as if to laze around. [break][break] Zachary felt the unpleasant urge to fall down from sheer dumbfounding. They had an emergency, the Kadabra knew they were in a tough spot-- and now was so lax? Zachary rushed up to Tarot, urgency in his tone. "Tarot, please! Now is not the time to take a nap. This is an emergency!" Zachary encouraged. [break][break] Tarot cracked open an eye, seeing the trainers worried about their danger. However, the Kadabra only answered with an apathetic yawn. [break][break] "TAROT!!" Zachary shouted. Dizzy too, annoyed by the Kadabra's selfishness, barked angrily at him, waving his flaming stick. [break][break] BRRRRROOOOOOOOAAAAAAARRRRR!!![break][break] The sound of the distant, unknown creature certainly snapped the Kadabra out of its funk, its eyes now wide with alarm. It soon got back up, realizing the danger. "Will you PLEASE Teleport us all to safety." Zachary emphasized, trying to reason with the difficult Kadabra. [break][break] With a sigh, the Kadabra agreed, able to tell an emergency when he heard it. [break][break] Zachary urged Arron to join beside him. Dizzy took a hold of Tarot's tail, while Zachary held on to his shoulder. They all had to be in contact or someone would be left behind. As everyone was holding on, the Kadabra's eyes glowed with focus and psychic power! [break][break] Their forms, and their vision began to flicker with light, as they soon saw a lumbering shadow through the trees. It was coming! [break][break] Tarot saw the creature, and soon-- they were all gone, teleporting elsewhere to safety... hopefully. [break][break]
