if there's one thing that silverio can give credit where it's due, it was the opposition's relentlessness. suppose that it was a lesson to be learned here; not every trainer or every opponent would as merciful as the next. in fact, this stranger is proving to be complete opposite -- cold, unforgiving, and relentless in their objective. come to think of it, the man could say that he'd been reminded of himself during his yesteryears as a student learning the ropes of battling.[break][break]

and yet, a valuable lesson is to be learned here: not everyone would be willing to play by the book when it comes to battling. suffice to say it's a lesson to be utilized in life as a whole. but if he weren't successful in defending oneself or the environment, then there may not be a life left to live. with that in mind, silverio and his poképals will continue the fight for as long as necessary.[break][break]

"you're doing great, keep it up..."[break][break]

the ancient behemoth's attacks, fierce but erratic, are easily avoidable for the empowered frog ninja. the mega-evolved greninja swiftly slides aside and away from the oncoming strikes, but an unsuspecting blast from the majestic cloud dragon knocks him back a few steps. the frog darts his eyes up to the airborne, accelerates towards a nearby tree and launches himself off from it -- a bounce way high, hopefully out of the prehistoric beast's reach.[break][break]

using the encouragement from his trainer, a highly pressurized stream of focused water spews from the mouth of the now airborne frog, en route to the altaria. the hydro pump looks to rain in on the cloudy creature's parade in the hope of alleviating the pressure on he and silverio, if only slightly.[break][break]

a sound theory being conjured now by the two rangers' combined brainpower. despite the trouble endured, silverio's rescue operation culminates in a resounding success, creepy crawlies and all. sasky and her poképals are safe now, and the unborn children of the momma ariados are unharmed and sorted into a more secure spot in the basement. if not for the paldean's quick thinking though, then it may have been likely that the ariados would've gotten a more heftier load for her and her young to feed on.[break][break]

yeah, let's not think about all of that![break][break]

after the mother had been pacified, courtesy of a freshly summoned deer, silverio returns his attention to the young woman whom has now saved from impending doom twice over. even now, after the matter has been resolved, he can still feel the tremors within her skin as she reached for his arm. gently, as to not impose on her personal space, he rests a hand over hers. "you did good too, y'know; i might not have found this place if you hadn't been so quick to call me. so...thank you too."[break][break]

the higher-ups were going to love hearing the reports of what has transpired here. "i'm willing to bet that those ghosts wouldn't hesitate to try and scare away anyone that gets too close to that spider or her babies." right about now would be an ideal time for everyone to haul ass and skedaddle![break][break]

how many more experiences like this would the man have to endure during his tenure here in this region? well, needless to say that no matter how many times he'd have to assert himself in extraordinary scenarios quite like this impromptu rescue mission, if it's for the purpose of helping someone or something, he'd gladly do it without hesitation. even in cases such as sasky's where it wasn't the first time in which she sought out his aid, silverio had oftentimes found it difficult to refuse. regardless of how she'd gotten here, the objective now is for the two of them and their poképals to make it out of this sticky situation in one piece.[break][break]

for the brief moment where she finds refuge in his arms, he can feel her trembling. like a gardevoir synchronizing with her foe, sasky's evident fear of a 'worse case scenario' is now silverio's growing worry as well. little time remains before the sun will inevitably set on this expedition, and as if the darkness were waiting for a cue, the light giving way from the broken door fades. the mother spider presents herself. before he can say anything more, silv quickly relinquishes his hold on sasky to allow her space to tend to her companion, whom has finally awoken.[break][break]

the elgyem's reaction to the impending threat is only natural, but simultaneously, may be potentially harmful to the ariados, and also her unborn offspring. speaking of which, something needed to be done about them -- to keep them safe. "round up the eggs, move them someplace safe!" he commands his spiny mouse. with seemingly no regard for the house's infrastructure, the sandslash commences digging, quickly burrowing a hole in a far wall spacious enough for all of the eggs to safely sit, then rolls around to collect them there.[break][break]

meanwhile, silv's green four-legged partner swoops in with its sharp leaf blade formed with its leafy tail to help stablilize the mama spider's position, with no intent to harm her. if the bug insists on flailing at the group, leafeon's tail would continously repel her, but soon enough, fatigue would play a factor.[break][break]

silverio soon joins sasky with hands roguishly slithering across the spider's sticky carapace in an dastardly attempt to soothe her. "it's okay, we're not gonna hurt you or your babies; we just want to help..."

no, best not to dwell on it right now. today is a time of peace, or so one such as a foreigner like silverio can only hope it is. but with each passing second that he remains here, doubt swells in his chest; questions begin to amount atop the apex of his conscience, mainly of how one can even begin to rebuild after the carnage that had transpired. and yet, even now, a part of him is weighing the fault heavily on himself for his inability to be of any considerable aid at the time.[break][break]

alas, that is neither here nor there...[break][break]

freya morningstar 's speech, apparently opposed by the voice of one seeking to expose her allegedly fradulent demeanor, prompts silverio's attention. details of the phenomenon that plagued sootopolis are presented, but it's not this that prods at the paldea-born ranger's nerves. rather, it was what had been noted before that. "rebuilding...where can we even start...? how...?" he spurs to nobody in particular. meanwhile, his gible continues to scarf down any treats in his sights.[break][break]

nerves begin to rumble; silverio's fingers began trickling along the surface in front of him at the table where he remains, eyes wandering in search of a way out of an impending disaster. if this were a nightmare, perhaps he'd wish for someone to wake him. in an attempt to relieve some of his growing frustration, silv lines up the long sleeves of his navy blue dress shirt to roll them along his forearms, and undos the top button of it. a sign, maybe, that he needs some air.[break][break]

he departs from his seat. seeing this, little gible rolls off the table to follow suit. weaving through traffic, silverio seeks refuge. from what? who knows, but a breath of fresh air may supposedly do him some justice. how can he attain this though...?

the damage is done, leaving the environment crippled in its wake. through that, however, it appears that silverio and his poképals will leave to see another day -- barely. battling through a venomous storm, a first for silverio (and hopefully the last), was a tall order indeed. yet somehow, the order is fulfilled, but at the cost of a man's physical stability or lack thereof at the present moment. regardless, the combined efforts of gliscor and metagross prove to be sufficient, or at least enough to drive away the opposition.[break][break]

for now...[break][break]

what sounded like a sharp breakage prompts silv's attention for a mere second before his dulled sapphire pupils return to view the terrain of which he's confined to. perhaps a strategic retreat on the part of the adversary, and considering the condition of both he and his pokémon, it's an outcome that he quickly need to come to terms with. on the bright side, no other people or pokémon have appeared to be hurt. a ball in his hands, silv sluggishly reaches out to recall the gliscor back to her chamber.[break][break]

metagross, by way of psychic willpower, lifts silverio to lug on its wide back and begins to trek along disoriented grounds -- a result of its own stampeding just moments ago. "thank you..." the paldea-born ranger breathes as he's carried away. surely he'd need time to recuperate, because at this rate, who knows if he can endure another scuffle like the one that he had just barely managed to scrape by...[break][break]

no words, only actions, for those are oftentimes said to be speak louder. but what form of action could prove to be enough in attempts to turn the tides of an unexpected battle in the favor of those who seek to protect the very livelihood of humanity and the creatures that co-inhabit the lands? suppose there are several variables to consider in that sense, but as of this moment, the momentum continues to shift to and fro, the waves of battle crashing onto the shallow shores beneath the ranger's feet. if this were to keep on, the tides may rise too far up for him to handle.[break][break]

as the suspicious stranger may learn soon enough, they aren't the only ones looking to prove their worth here. the gliscor's blazing hot fangs are rendered ineffective, namely due to the bulbasaur's sudden shift - crystallized in a aquatic blue, signaling the commencement of a phenomenon most familiar to the paldean. terastallization! cued by its commander, the bulbasaur blasts away at the flying scorpion with a strength empowered by its terastal energy which proves to be enough to down the creature.[break][break]

meanwhile, the metallic strong-legged being manages to strike down the menacing punk pokémon, but not without sustaining damage unto itself, as well as that taken from the punishing static force incoming. silverio, unfortunately, isn't quick enough to avoid it. the electricity trickles onto him, from the feet upward. the shock renders him immobile, crashing into the turf whilst his voice cracks, possibly from the high impact.[break][break]

seeing its pilot down, the metagross zooms towards silv. from his position, plopped on his side within the dirt below, silv's eyes meet the cast-iron pokémon's. it's at this moment where their connection is showcased; no words needed, the mechanical monster senses what needs to be done.[break][break]

finish the job![break][break]

and it will now launce an attempt to do so. in a fit of unbound fury and a newfound motivation, it rushes forward and it slams its heavy legs into the ground which will likely trigger tremors all around it and the opposition -- an earthquake. an attempt to shake up the toxic bulbasaur, the one remaining beast that poses a threat.[break][break]

"what...what are you really doing here...!?" he dares to ask, as he struggles to assume an upright position whilst plastered on the ground. and again, a question brews without a sign directing him to an answer. needless, this stranger is no by means obligated to respond. but should they choose to do so, the ranger can only hope to learn something, anything, from them. what's the motif here? their objective? their endgame? if there's even a hint, then it'd be something to go on as far as what drives them to endanger this environment and all those who inhabit it.[break][break]

"you're...not what you claimed to be...that much...is obvious now, so i'll ask again..." meanwhile, his froggy friend is able to land a clean hit on the massive monstrosity, but that only appears to have infuriated the beast even moreso than before. it retaliates by baring its fangs, and before he can get maneuver away, the greninja is caught in the monster's oral grasp. as if he could synchronize with the amphibian, silverio's own pain in his side feels to be amplified. through that, however, he insists...[break][break]

"who are you...!?" with momentum shifting between the opposing pokémon like a see-saw, silverio unveils a ball, one dressed in black with yellowish stripes -- an ultra ball. he flings it in a swift sidearmed motion, and from it, a ball of solid emerges, one bearing a head, stubby arms and stocky legs. a golem. the megaton pokémon moves to his trainer's aid, stomping along in front of him to serve as a rocky shield.[break][break]

meanwhile, the greninja looks for an answer of his own, but struggles to separate himself. the golem sees this as a cue to offer backup, and it does so with claws as sharp as stone. the rocky entity seeks to deliver a stone edge to the tyranitar, although it's not nearly as swift as his aqautic ally.[break][break]

caught in the spotlight, and with no means of an explantion of their motive, at that. surely, silverio would've known the person who'd be sent out here to aid him and his pokémon crew in these difficult times. but as this stranger may have just proven, it's saddening to say that a partnership would not be in the cards. suppose it'd be suffice to say that the paldean may have just been dealt an erractically unfavorable hand in this game of life right now.[break][break]

their gargantuan beast looks to strike without warning, and it would. his amphibian warrior swiftly sidesteps the tyranitar's smack down, but silverio wouldn't be as fortunate; he fails to match his greninja's quickness, and gets clipped on his side as moves. before he can come to think of how this sudden development has manifested, he finds himself flat on the ground, favoring his oblique, wincing.[break][break]

but perhaps the momentum may be shifting in his favor now. despite the early downfall of his flying scorpion, much like this stranger, silverio is quick to assert himself and his pokemon on the offensive. his nidoking's thunderbolt strikes true, giving the ancient aquatic deity pause for the moment, thus prompting its pilot to call for a layover in its ball -- to take a break, and maybe it was needed. of course, the paldea-born ranger can relate in that sense; overworking one pokemon in particular has always been something that he'd rather avoid. surely, there was some trainers out there whom apparently didn't know the meaning of a strategic retreat, but this person evidently does.[break][break]

an honorable decision.[break][break]

despite it being unexpected, silverio would prefer for this fight to be, above all else, fair. as her beast of supposed legend is withdrawn, another opponent -- perhaps equally vicious -- takes its place. the altaria's song quickly lulls silverio's beast into a slumbering submission. at that moment, regret sinks deeply in the man's skin; maybe he should've called his friend back as well. alas, there's no time to wait it out, for there's little chance of it awakening in time to finish the job.[break][break]

thus, he motions for the beast to return his ball, so that he can have a more peaceful sleep.[break][break]

and in a flash, he dispatches one of his most trusted partners in the form of a amphibian ninja warrior. shortly after emerging, a small accessory -- a bracer encasing a peculiar stone -- shines a hot white light on silverio's wrist. "it's all on you now, you've got this!" he announces as his greninja begins to shift, a giant shuriken forming on his back, taking on a revolutionary form. sporting the weapon from his back, and another in the form of a second water shuriken taking shape in his free hand, the frog heaves them at the altaria. an attempt to cut its song short.[break][break]

about being stubborn, that is, because despite silverio's advisory words, this mysterious masked offender still stands in the way of the ranger's quest to ensure this land's safety. perhaps at this point in time, it's suffice to say that they won't be doing away with themselves quite easily -- not without a fight to say the least. in the case of the paldean himself, one may call it stubbornness, but he'd likely say that it's practicing bravery in the face of an oncoming danger. whether that would be credible enough to the opposition remains questionable in any case.[break][break]

regardless, a battle proves to be inevitable.[break][break]

both attacks from silverio's companions strike true, but not without consequence, or so it appears. the toxic bulbasaur responds in kind with a mighty swing of its chain. gliscor, although quick to zip through the air, could not outrun the chain's range. the fanged flying scorpion is swatted down like an airborne insect. the metagross, while natrually impervious to venomous strikes, is clipped unexpectedly which prompts its attention drawn to the bulbasaur. however, it now finds its shiny metal exterior coated with vicious toxins. a similar essence plagues the gliscor all the same.[break][break]

...at least they seem to know what they're doing; that's quite the strategy they're running, but we can fight through it...[break][break]

ringing thoughts held as a wave of electricity shoots towards the man himself, and surprisingly fast. silv's metagross was unfortunately not as quick as the massive spike in voltage. the gliscor, on the other hand? she wastes no time in soaring to her caregiver's aid, nosediving in front of him to take the brunt of the shocks, all the while silv barely manages to scurry away from the blast, but not without sustaining a few nicks and scrapes. it's to say that putting others ahead of himself has always been a recurring theme for the paldean, but here, it's vice versa; his pokepals ensuring their trainer's safety over their own.[break][break]

at the same time, however, gliscor and metagross are now feeling the effects of the toxic aura that haunts them, but in completely opposite ways. the toxins begin to chip away at the metagross alloy skin, whereas the gliscor appears to be strangely unfazed. persevering through the plague, it seems, and with a renewed vigor at that. the flying scorpion shoots forward, straight at the toxic bulbasaur with its fangs on full display and dressed in a coat of intense flames. a textbook fire fang. meanwhile, the metagross launches a hard punch at the opposing toxtricity, seeking to meteor mash it.[break][break]

something immediately feels off about this chance encounter. why would anyone dispatch a fellow operative to take the reins of an endeavor without prior knowledge or information? and the impression that this stranger is responding in the form of a question leaves silverio with less answers than what he began this mission with. suffice to say that one of only a few logical explanations would be that...[break][break]

if they claim to know that this area is not fit for a mere pedestrian to be traversing at this time, then why were they here anyway? silverio's eyes narrow, his visage now exuding waves of doubt. "if that were the case, then i would've been notified well ahead of your arrival. come to think of it, i don't believe we've met before..."[break][break]

suspicions rising in his mind as he dares to tread forward, his amphibian ninja warrior firmly beside him. "...who are you, exactly?" in all of his ventures, one could say that one of silverio's greatest qualities is being put on display here: reading a person -- like an entry in a pokédex.[break][break]

"you're kidding me...!?" no, jokes are all being set aside in this friendly competition. or at the very least, this ghostly critters seemed friendly enough to volunteer themselves for this entire ordeal. regardless of the context, one more answer ought to do the trick in order to claim a prize. will it be a suitable one though? only time will tell, or so goes that old saying, or some other form of cliché that can describe this matter. in any case, silverio is merely going out on a limb here...
