Mr. Business is right behind. Worse still, her footfalls become far heavier as gravity drapes over them like a weighted blanket. She returns Ribombee to her pokeball and sends out her Miltank, releasing the normal type from her market-purchased pokeball, one still bearing a price sticker. The focus on her pokeballs keeps her from paying close attention to the task of fleeing and she trips over herself. [break][break]

She falls to the ground but scrambles immediately to get back up, fighting the press of gravity which strains her muscles to work against. She feels knee pop unpleasantly as she pushes up from the ground. "Stop him, Milly," she urges breathlessly without sparing a glance backwards at their Rocket pursuer. Milly charges at Grigori directly with a body slam to knock the breath from his lungs.[break][break]

her parents would always hold onto her as their only daughter, even if things were rocky between them. she wondered how rex was positioned in his own family. was he always a hellion? was he the kind of kid the parents worried about incessantly, or had he been a careful kid before all of this? his selflessness in wanting togepi to be happy made him seem like an older sibling, but his determination to the best made him seem like the youngest, too.[break][break]

being an eleven was quite flattering until he revealed the upper end of the scale.[break][break]

she eyes the egg pokemon with undisguised mischief, but she wouldn't dream of getting between him and his togepi. the two of them had an oddly powerful bond. that, and she figured anything happening to togepi would be what it took for rex to go off the deep end for real.[break][break]

just alright, she doesn't say aloud. she'd met a handful of characters out here in hoenn, but rex felt the most real. she feels at ease around him, despite the craziness they always found themselves surrounded by. things tended to work out.[break][break]

she watched as mirages flickered to the right, half-baked images of pokemon that didn't quite form. the crystals were trying to stir up trouble again. she let mime jr out of her arms so the little psychic could lead the way, generating dazzling gleams to help illuminate the way.[break][break]

"let's get out of here before we get more justification to break further into the cave, yeah?"

a mosaic of colors blurred past her as she fell. her hands had made their way to her belt to grab any kind of pokeball that could save her, but the one she opened was that that contained mime jr, who was her first choice for protection. but then togepi slowed their descent to a crawl. she clung tight to mime jr as all of them floated harmlessly down to the next cavern.[break][break]

"that was a little close for comfort."[break][break]

she didn't let mime jr go even as she landed on her feet. this section of the cave had a higher ceiling than before, but there were several tera crystal outcrops scattered throughout the room.[break][break]

"these crystals are so pretty... if only they weren't so destructive, too."[break][break]

she carried mime jr over to a large rock freckled with crystals. she traced a finger down one, wondering how awful it would be to keep a shard for herself.[break][break]

his azurmarill's strength was pure brilliance; it heaved the battered iron boulder up and tossed it into the wall easily, though the way it shook the cave told her hell was going to fall down on them all. she tripped over a newly fallen stalactite and staggered forward, narrowly catching herself before she dove into the ground.[break][break]

"it's unstable. we need to leave without worrying about the crystals."[break][break]

she withdrew milly into her pokeball and considered if she had anyone else on her team for a fast exit. her sense of direction was rattled. she stepped towards a smaller entrance than the one they'd used to get to this point, and the floor broke beneath her, pushing her down a tunnel in the cave system leading somewhere.[break][break]

any opportunity for a playful conversation went out the window as he insisted they run. she only caught a glimpse of it before she rushed the opposite way like a track star.[break][break]

"milly, it's time to go!"

the miltank wasn't persuaded there was a problem, though, and she stood her ground instead. milly charged back at the iron boulder with a body slam. keiko slid to a stop, unwilling to leave her pokemon to fend for herself. she became painfully aware of just how many sharp stalactites hung above like stars, able to fall at a significant enough disturbance.
