It was a job to track down rampaging Pokémon that were causing havoc in this area which was suspected to be a result of infections, a result of the invaders that attacked Hoenn.

Remnants of that invasion had and were being felt everywhere, some of them still doing harm to the region. In this case, it was sick Pokémon, something that they could treat, fortunately. It was just their job to track down the beasts and bring them in.

Though Adam felt this job was going to be a bit more complicated. Despite cautions otherwise, the man went ahead without waiting for his group and found something concerning.

Tracks of their target but there were much more than anticipated and to the point where he was getting suspicious. They led in the direction of the tunnel and Adam wanted to beat them to it, wanting to avoid having to battle in an enclosed space like that.

A pair of tracks stopped suddenly and seemed to appear fresher than the other ones leading to Adam believing he wasn’t alone and in fact, he wasn’t as he was quickly attacked by a Zangoose, only barely able to distance himself and avoid the claws of the beast.

”Didn’t the nurses tell you to take it easy? Do I need to call them back in here to set you straight?” He teased, knowing full well how a scolding from one nurse, in particular, could go. He had gotten an earful himself, given partial blame for the situation that Noelle was in.

Adam was glad however to see that she was seemingly in good spirits and wasn’t moping.

”I’ve got you something.” He lifted up a bag, showing off the logo on the front of it belonging to a bakery that he stopped at before coming to see her.

”And I think you’re going to like it.” Adam would hand the bag over; he didn’t want to tell her what it was and ruin the surprise that was the cookies in the shape of one of Noelle’s favorite Pokémon, Dragonair.

”So how are you feeling?”

Noelle Lane

”Soul.” Adam said after letting out a deep sigh at the sight of Noelle. The Lucario walked over to the injured woman and used HEAL PULSE on her arm.

”Damn right it’s your fault try and be more careful next time, alright?” If she wasn’t already hurt this would be the part where he’d shake her but he figured she learned her lesson plenty.

”But yeah no problem, if you need help again on a job you know my number.” He said that but then immediately remembered his current commitments.

”Been a bit busy recently but I’ll try to come through. Anyway, let’s get you some actual professional medical attention.” No offense to Dr. Lucario over here.

Noelle Lane

”Yeah sure you’re fine.” Adam scoffed, the wound on her arm looked anything but fine.

She needed to get that checked at a hospital but in the meantime he could have his Lucario use heal pulse on it to ease the pain and stop some of the swelling.

”Listen just stay still and I’ll t-“ He might as well have been mouthing her words because they certainly weren’t being heard.

”Alright fuck it, guess we’re doing this.” Adam admired her tenacity even if he felt it was much too reckless given the situation but he knew it was pointless to fight with her now.

”Alright boys you heard the lady! Aura Sphere, Brave Bird! Take it down!” The two Pokémon leaped into action, aiming the exposed bits of the Garbodor’s body. God could this nightmare trash monster be annoying to deal with.

Noelle Lane

”Shit! Extreme Speed now! Get her out of there!” Adam shuffled through his capsules for the right one as his Lucario vanished.

The steel type Pokémon would then reappear next to Noelle, taking hold of the woman before using its incredible speeds to take her a safe distance away from the monster Garbodor.

”Brave Bird!” Adam released his Corviknight, the large bird Pokémon using the attack its trainer commanded as it appeared from the capsule and crashed right into the Garbodor.

”Are you alright?” He asked Noelle as he hurried over to her and his Lucario, examining her wound once he reached them.

Noelle Lane

”Fucking hell!” He cursed under his breath as Noelle ran off, giving chase after her with his Lucario.

”I really am going to put a god damn leash on her.” He only stopped his pursuit when he noticed his Lucario hesitate.

”What is it? Do you see something?” The Lucario did in fact sense another creature’s aura but it was still a bit off from where they were.

”Noelle be careful! We’re not alone and it’s getting closer!”

Noelle Lane

”I’m right here, silly.” A hand would be placed on top of the woman’s head as it then turned said head in the direction of the man she was calling out for.

But she did have a point, it was hard as hell to see and if it wasn’t for the fact that he had his Lucario with them Adam would be incredibly worried about their chances of seeing this job through.

”My Lucario should be able to guide us to whatever’s causing this. So just stay close.” Or he’d then have to put a leash on her.

Even with his Lucario possibly guiding them with its ability to see auras the place was still a nightmare to navigate through.

”Maybe we should just look for where it’s thickest.”

Noelle Lane

Adam wasn’t really all that caught up on this ultra beast phenomenon so when Kyle said the jellyfish ultra beast he had to think about it for a bit before realize which one that he meant.

Or more he was trying to wrap his head around something like this happening and what one could do to treat their Pokémon like Kyle’s Manectric but alas he had no idea.

”Well I’m glad you’re going to get it checked out, after this I’ll go with yo-“ And Kyle was already off and leaving Adam to clean up this mess.

”That son of a bitch! Last time I help him out. Hope he gets drowned in work.”

”High on ultra beast poison?” What in the world was Kyle talking about?

Adam watched carefully when Kyle demonstrates this supposed resistance to poison.

The man cringed a bit as the Manectric kept chewing at the Swalot despite the poison oozing out of it.

”Well that’s gross.” He’d then release his Tropius to deal with some of the other poison types that were around, the large grass type Pokémon using whirlwind to blow them all away and out of this area.

”No that’s not cool at all, Kyle. I don't think you should be using this Manectric, it should be at a hospital or lab.”

The mention of vacation days had Adam thinking about what the pay and normal work schedule was like for an Elite Four member.

If their job was just to take challenges from people who make it to that point in the league challenge what the hell do they do when there are no challenges and things are slow?

All he could think of was train but other than that wouldn’t they just dick around?

Sounds like his last job just actually had him to more work than once every blue moon when someone managed to get around to challenging the Elite Four.

Bailey Cooper was the champion now? The only experience he had with the woman was that Rapidash fiasco which thinking back on it had Adam cringing a bit.

”Seriously? This region really can’t catch a break.” Were the pickings really that bad they had to choose her since Kyle clearly didn’t want it? As they walked Adam again noticed the look his Lucario was giving in the direction of Kyle’s Manectric.

”Kyle, what’s up with your Manectric? The only time Soul reacts like this is when something’s really wrong.”

Adam crossed his arms and shook his head, letting out a deep sigh as he listened to Kyle’s so called “strat”.

”You know I’m pretty sure you can just give up the spot if you don’t want it. Probably save you the headache of having to dodge em all the time and besides it seems really easy for them to find a replacement.” He’d shrug.

While Kyle’s Manectric was mean mugging Adam’s Lucario the jackal didn’t respond in kind with a similar look but appeared rather disturbed by the electric hound as if nature itself had somehow been perverted.

Adam noticed his Lucario’s uneasiness and then looked to the Manectric, or at least tried to as Kyle kept trying to hide its face.

”Nice try buddy but since you most definitely in some kind of way outrank me it’d only be protocol that you took the lead right? Besides I’d love to see Elite Four Kyle Lopez at work.” Adam would step aside to let Kyle pass.

”And talk about things you've missed? How about we focus on what I've missed first. Anything new you want to talk about that's been going on with yiu?”

Adam stared at this little bastard that was ramming its head against a berry tree, wondering if the damn thing even knew he was here.

His Rillaboom was quite attached to this little garden of theirs, often taking care of it, and didn’t take kindly to the dragon attack it.

The dragon only stopped its head butting when it noticed the towering shadow of the Rillaboom.

When the dragon turned to attack the Rillaboom the large grass type grabs the lizard by its snout, stopping it from using dragon breath, hit it with Wood Hammer, and then threw it out of the garden.

”That was a bit of an overkill, don’t you think?” Adam walked over to where the dragon landed and tossed a Pokéball at it.

Capture Attempt

It wasn’t uncommon to find poison-type Pokémon running amok in a city’s sewer system, hell it was expected but the uptick in numbers and there more erratic behavior was of concern.

While it was his job to remedy this problem Adam was currently more focused on finding a source of the behavior change first before tried to evict the poison-types.

With the help of his Lucario, he managed to track down some clusters of Pokémon but nothing of note so far which while welcoming was a bit strange given what he assumed to find.

”Hmm?” Adam was busy examining tracks left behind by some wild Pokémon when his Lucario tugged on his shirt, trying to get his attention.

”Something over there?” The man stood up straight from his crouched position and followed the Lucario around the corner.

”Well what the hell, this is a surprise!” This was the last place he thought he’d run into a familiar face.

”If it isn’t the famous Kyle Lopez, can’t believe they have you down here trying to clean up this mess.”
