and in her panic, she clings to the comfort he offers... though it seems short lived.

her chest heaves and she blindly feels around her torso, hands trembling. she can't tell what's missing, what's bleeding, what's wrong. it's all a jumble of reality and nightmares colliding.

ollie morales comes next, warm hands clamping down onto her arms. she gasps, tears springing into existence and quickly overflowing over water lines.

"i -- my chest... is it whole? i -- am i bleeding?"

the scatter bang sounds off, then, and she shrieks. her body scrambles toward ollie morales, knocking him around in the process. it leaves them both prey to the jellyfish below...

she feels a tentacle wrap around her ankle, tugging and digging into skin. a sharp hiss of pain follows and she kicks for freedom. her movements become frantic for a few moments before they grow sluggish, as if weighed down by something. black veins begin to rise on her ankles and slowly, painstakingly, rise up her legs.

and as the ground breaks apart beneath her feet, she is shoved down into the ground by the sheer force of the ting-lu's attack. somewhere in the haze, her head smashes into a rock and she sees stars. vision fades and for a moment, she's blind... left solely to the clutches of fear trying to cage them all in... trying to snuff them out beneath heavy rocks.

the world spins on its axis, then, and nausea rises before awareness goes out entirely.

she comes gasping back into consciousness near Greyson Connors and aaron faust, white hair stained red from an open head wound.

a moment later, she's struggling to stand. her venusaur assists in this endeavor, holding her up as she tries to regain steady movement. there's still a sway to her, a sluggish sort of way her body operates. her head feels like it's splitting open. perhaps it is.

"thank you."

it's soft, mumbled only to her venusaur. the grass type is recalled a moment later, then, in favor of another pokemon. the pink body of mew comes into view quickly, a concerned look overtaking the mythical's expression.

"additional healing here if anyone needs it."

Greyson Connors has some of it covered, if not all of it, but she adds to the blanket of nourishment by increasing the flow of her healing mist. it blankets the ground around her, Greyson Connors, and aaron faust until there's not much dirt peeking out from behind the cover of pearly pink.

additional healing comes from mew's quick thinking of floating around the vicinity with life dew. and as she surveys the change of scenery, a hand coated in pink mist rises to begin the process of healing her head. she pauses as she takes in the sight of an odd wooden statue... the horse looks familiar, but she can't place what any of this means. her head is a jumbled concoction of pain and thoughts trying to survive.

perhaps it is her, and her alone, that faces such human emotions.

"i missed you too."

her lips quirk up slightly into a smile.

"have you been doing okay?"

his text, and subsequent arrival, comes at an odd time. distance has grown to an unmanageable level, spreading like ivy until she's covered and restrained.

and yet, she recognizes his knock against her door. firm, sharp, echoing.

her voice rises a moment later from her spot on the couch, buried beneath a fuzzy blanket and pressed into too many throw pillows.

"it's open."

"right, let's get started."

blood first requires the gathering of supplies. it takes a moment for her to collect them and pull a pair of sterile gloves onto freshly washed hands. once she does, she steps forward into his personal space with practiced ease.

"left arm, please."

a hand waits for him to extend the limb toward her. once he does, she ties the tourniquet around his bicep and swabs the crook of his arm with an alcohol pad.

"make a fist..."

it's soft, an idle command.

when he does, she locates the vein and inserts the needle to begin drawing blood into a small vial. a moment later and the needle is removed, the insertion site covered with a small gauze pad and bandaged up.

"good on the blood sample."

[attr="class","illeana i"]she hums understanding, feigns acceptance... for they should have come out on top this time around.

the stones should be theirs. she does not want to accept a reality where the league has failed once more. not again.

"dimensional investigations, mostly."

when the pot of coffee finishes brewing, she is quick to pour some into a nearby mug. her eyes drift toward him, a question lingering in the stare. does he want a cup too?

"there is a focus on preparation for sea hoenn's inevitable arrival, as well, but that is slower in progressing."

she flashes a small, haunted smile.

"Eva Morales and i will be visiting the dimensional pocket beneath rustboro soon to study the abbiati's silver spire. the report will reach your desk once we've concluded."

[attr="class","illeana i"]being by aaron faust and Greyson Connors for this feels normal, natural... a callback to their previous encounter with groudon and an artificial sun. there is no cable car here, surely, but they make due regardless as a trio.

she even flashes a small smile as she trails behind them before dispatching her voice into league comms.

"if you need medical attention at any point, find me. stay safe, all."

the line goes quiet a moment later, her piece spoken and left to linger as her attention shifts onto more pressing matters.

and as they approach, the soft pink of her healing mist becomes more pronounced around them. it stays within the five foot limit, but it is familiar in this unpredictable setting and there's a comfort in such a concept.

it does little, however, to combat wave after wave of fear from washing over her body. it comes on slowly at first as all things do. hidden in the background, laced beneath a moving train of multiple thoughts until the air is harder to breathe and her heartbeat quickens to terrifying levels. she despises the sensation, but there is no stopping the inevitable feeling from boiling over into every inch of her body. if there were water around and the smell of salt, she'd surely lose it.

aaron faust attacks first and she follows suit, calling out a venusaur to aid him in taking an offensive stance. terrain pulse comes within moments, firing off wave after wave of psychic assaults at the ting-lu by using her own psychic terrain/healing mist to their advantage.

while the beast is hopefully distracted, she lunges forward to seek out a black fragment as the group advances on the ancient tomb.

"if the reports and their associated rumors are to be believed, the seal stones would bring one closer to locating the original creator. or, well, vice versa... they could act like a beacon for all we know."

her smile is faint, awkward, worried.

"in the wrong hands, i fear what will come of the use of these stones. will we face judgement at rocket's hands should the rumors be correct?"

or is she worrying for nothing? there is no way to tell at this current point in space-time.

in the wrong hands, the seal stone is a terrifying concept... but would it have been any safer in the league's custody?

"if they use the stone to its highest potential, the result could be catastrophic for hoenn."

the creator used to further rocket's own goals is an end result she will fight tooth and nail to prevent from occurring, no matter the cost.

it takes a moment but soon, a light coating of healing mist begins to spread around the room. it always stops once the five foot radius has been reached. some days, she wishes it'd expand... if only to feel a sense of normalcy in relation to her past instances of power. it never will. she will make peace with such a thing one day.

today, however, is not that day.

"well, that is to be expected of Eva Morales."

faintly, there's a warm smile rising. she means it with affection, with an of course she would because she is a hero air to the concept.

"it is unfortunate we could not retrieve the seal stone, but i'm glad everyone came out with minor injuries."

major ones had been healed in triage centers, her own eyes overseeing the treatment.

"though, i do worry for what's to come now."
