he begins moving and she follows quickly behind with a laugh.

”unfortunately, i’ve been in rocket practically my whole life.”

maybe she would’ve gotten out if she had left when Sénon Game did. instead, he abandoned her in the lion’s den and she had to fend for herself. she’s still bitter about it, sometimes, in the later hours of the night when sleep eludes her and she’s constantly alone.

”although… if i knew you were rocket then, i might not have broken in.”

it’s a lie. they both know she would have regardless.

she likes to spend free days here, lounging by the flowers while she fights off the urge to take a little cat nap. and occasionally, it earns her an encounter with another rocket.

today, however, it brings her face to face with someone she didn't think she'd see again.

her eyes narrow at the sight of him.

"look what the cat dragged in."

the meeting is already well underway. she elbows out a little path through the crowd but mostly stays out of the way.

the important people are sharing opinions and she gets none considering she barely made the event at all...

she does, however, listen enough to hear the gist: league bad, space good, attack?

fuck, maybe she should've come earlier...

she spots caden maher among the crowd and, with only a lot of embarrassment, ducks away before he can notice her. that encounter ended terribly! hide! it lands her in unknown territory, left to scramble to find a new spot before finally, painfully, paying attention.

and this is probably a dumb question but she asks anyway, cheeks flushed and head tilted with confusion.

"hey, sorry uh i'm new to this whole space thing but mining a meteor seems like a tiny ass window of time before impact, or uh teleportation? definitely missed that memo... anywho! are there safety measures in place for that sort of shit?"

probably, knowing the people she's around... maybe she should've kept her mouth shut?

"oh! uh, hitting mt pyre sounds fun! let's do that."

and without hesitation, she's plucking the remainder of her drink from the side table. it's barely ice now but a cherry still sits pretty in what remains of the fruity cocktail she had ordered.

"ready?"

she leaves the for your mind to be blown part out because there's a few other things she can do better than this that would do the trick...

the fruit part of the cherry is quickly eaten and then the stem disappears into her mouth. she reveals it a moment later, the end neatly tied in a knot.

"see?"

it's sort of mumbled because she's balancing the cherry stem on her tongue but... that's fine!
