her eye widens for a moment, surprise etching itself into her features, before it smooths over into morbid curiosity. her intrusive thoughts push her forward, closer to the shiny hunk of metal on the floor.

"is this a... car part?"

upon brushing manicured fingers against smooth steel, the varoom awakens with a soft purring sound escaping its motor. she startles, retracting her hand as if burned.

the varoom, however, follows her hand as if looking to be pet more. she stares. is it... acting like a cat?

"you're an odd thing, aren't you?"

and just like that, she crouches down and begins to pet the cute varoom once more. its purring engine noises grow louder, easily lulled back into sleep. she takes it with her once she's certain it's fully asleep and happy being pet.

[attr="class","giada i”]the next clearing proves to be just as populated as the last, with a small group of mienfoo working on their training. one in particular catches her eye for it's off to the side, throwing punches at the lower half of a tree's trunk.

she stops for a moment to stare, taking in the oddity of its colors, before ushering her luxray along with a quick, "no, leave them." to the large cat.

the luxray, in turn, hisses slightly but obeys its trainer and follows her further down the beaten path instead.

nevertheless, she follows him over to the agility course with sure steps. the shoulder bump quells her slightly, though she still feels the early creepings of anxiety bubbling up in her limbs.

"yes."

she flashes a smile.

"you can go first."

better his outfit than hers, she reasons.

[attr="class","giada i”]as they get a little further into the safari zone, her luxray begins to wander. her eyes drift to follow its path for a moment before refocusing on the path ahead.

it's only when the luxray returns that she realizes something's amiss.

"hey! no, drop it!"

the luxray growls lightly around the discolored fletchling in its maw and promptly drops the bird unceremoniously onto the ground. a sigh of relief escapes gia and she moves to attend to the fletchling, its distressed cries beginning to rise through the area. she softly shushes it and begins to gingerly scoop it up into her arms.

"there, there... you're okay."

it settles after a few more moments of crying and promptly falls asleep in her arms, safe from the luxray.

[attr="class","giada i”]truthfully, she can't remember the last time she's been here... wait, has she ever willingly stepped foot in the safari zone? a look of mild processing crosses her features before smoothing out into curiosity.

it doesn't matter - she has a purpose here anyway.

the rumor mill has churned out the fact that cute kittens are roaming here and she's going to find one to take home, whether CIAN MAHER wants another cat or not.

with her luxray in tow, they begin their hunt with a nice, slow pace...

they could, in the end, work something out... but how long would awkwardness persist until then?

at the mention of agility training and voltorbs, she blinks as if caught in headlights.

"are you trying to kill me?"

regardless of whatever skill she claims to have, that just sounds like overkill.

"i'll try, but if i blow up? i'm totally haunting you."

his bright sunshiney expression is infectious, it seems, as a mirroring grin overtakes her expression. the following hug is warm, paired with a quick squeeze and a faint lingering. she ignores the reluctance to let go and retracts her claws before she leaves holes in him.

”you better, or it’d get very awkward at home.”

less awkward, however, than him finding out what she’s been doing in her spare time… apartment hunting.

somehow, she can’t bring herself to tell him yet. she tries, going so far as to open her mouth and almost blurt it out, but then he smiles and she loses the courage to change their agreement.

”so, whatcha got in store for me today, hm?”

[attr="class","giada i”]she hums through idle acceptance, knowing she can't stop his whimsy or his aversion to drifting in serious waters. she can't blame him, really... she's the same way, isn't she?

"could you put the pasta in?"

a small smile accompanies the request.

"i'll work on the sauce."

and she drifts toward the stove anyway to place the large sauce pan on another burner before turning to grab the measured ingredients.

[attr="class","giada i”]he settles next to her at the counter and she forces herself to keep her focus solely on the ingredients. only one or two more to measure...

"i don't know."

she sounds a little exasperated as she finishes measuring the shredded cheese and taps the bottom of the measuring cup on the counter to settle it all down.

if she stopped to think about it, perhaps it'd be to not treat everything like a joke. there's whimsy in him, sure, but she grows tired of it sometimes.

"i'm sure you'll figure out how, though."

the pout quickly gives way to a light scowl. sometimes, he's just simply infuriating.

"maybe you're just not worthy of my politeness, how about that?"

and in a haughty huff, she raises her head higher in defiance and turns way to focus instead on the ingredients.

with her back turned, he's free to get away with correcting his mistake and adding salt into the simmering pot. while he does so, she busies herself with measuring out milk, flour, cheese, and butter for the sauce pan. her movements are, perhaps, slightly forceful.

she pouts with childlike petulance. it's not often, granted, but it does sometimes happen...

while he preps a pot and places it on the stovetop, she begins to gather the ingredients and a sauce pan to take over to the island behind the oven. once she has her hands free, however, she pauses to take a sip of wine before glancing over at him.

"did you salt the water too?"
