Jacob once again found himself on the lonely outskirts of Slateport City. He didn't know what it was that drove him to this area, but whenever his shifts would conclude, he would often find himself camping out, enjoying the solitude that the area would provide. And while there was the occasional encounter with another Rocket, Jacob found that very few grunts hung around, or patrolled these parts. But then, there was the chance that even he didn't notice the watchful eyes of his comrades out in the area.

Just thinking about it made the young man uneasy.

Next to the redhead was his trusty Zorua, Morrigan, stretched out comfortably along the grassy hill. A gloved hand would glide through the red and black fur atop her head, eliciting a cheerful yelp, as the fox enjoyed the contact with her trainer. Despite his shortcomings when it came to battling, at least his Pokemon could say that their trainer did his best for them, and made sure they were well cared for.

The beast lingered not too far away from Jacob's position. She watched him idly as he lay atop the grassy hill.

"Is there a reason you're wasting the day away out here?"

Her voice is cool and collected. In fact, it's hard to tell whether or not she was angry. The woman approached her fellow colleague swiftly, her eyes briefly brushing over the pair.

They settled on the Zorua he was stroking, and there was a note of distaste that flashed briefly across her lip. It came in the form of a twitch, the corner of her lip tightening and relaxing, almost like a grimace.

"I wasn't aware Team Rocket had pets."

The silence Jacob was enjoying was broken up by the voice of a woman with a Kalosian accent. Jacob would look up at the woman, the annoyance on his face quite apparent as she was commenting on the fact that he was lounging on the hill. "Maybe it's because my shift's already ended? 'sides, this is a good place to find wild Pokemon.", Jacob would tell the woman in response, not even bothering to mask his annoyance over being interrupted.

What he didn't know was that he was talking to one of the Four Beasts.

"What, you shocked by the sight of a Rocket Grunt taking the time to actually fuckin' bond with his Pokemon, instead of treating them like mere tools? 'sides, this Zorua's saved my ass countless times, so don't go callin' her a pet, Froakie!", Jacob would continue mouthing off to the woman, potentially digging himself even deeper.

Before they could continue their exchange, Jacob would spot a couple of Pokemon coming at them. One of them was airborne, while the other was coming from the ground. Jacob would take a moment to look on at what was coming. As they got closer, he could see that one of them was a Golbat, while the other was a Purugly. The latter would come charging at him, prompting Jacob to send out another one of his Pokemon.

Unlike the Zorua, the Pangoro that came out looked a lot more ferocious, and ready to dish out some damage.

"Jack, send that Purugly flying with a Sky Uppercut!", Jacob called out.

The Pangoro would let out a short roar, before charging at the Purugly, fist balled up tightly. But before he could make contact, the Purugly would deliver a light strike to the Pangoro, telegraphing it to get him to raise his guard, only to strike elsewhere, Faking him Out. The Pangoro looked on in annoyance at the Purugly, who would then deliver a Feint Attack to the gut of the Pangoro. Of course, the Fighting-type would shrug this one off, before delivering a Sky Uppercut to the feline, sending it flying into the sky. The shocked cry of the feline would resonate through the area, before a painful thud signified its landing. With one last weak, pained mewl, the Purugly was down for the count.

Whoever she was talking to had bite.

His response was aggressive and defensive, protecting himself and his Pokemon. Emma simply stood still and stared down the impotent fool. The Zorua was a peculiar Pokemon, and she had immediately sensed great potential in it.

Now, however, that potential had been lost.

"Bonding is an excellent example of impotence. I can see you have already become too close with that pup. When it inevitably dies trying to protect you, you will also die. Team Rocket has no room for weak-minded grunts who can't keep their personal feelings out of their work."

Emma completely disregards his earlier insult and instead puts on a very sad frown.

"It's a shame, really. The whelp looked to have so much potential.."

To break the stirring fight, a Purugly and Golbat came tearing across the field towards the pair. Emma blinked, watching as her fellow colleague released a Pangoro. He called it by name and sent it flying into the sky with an uppercut. It's screams were reasuring that the Pokemon would not return anytime soon.

Emma, however, was much more interested in the Golbat that continued to fly around.

With a flick of her wrist, the woman released a very bright purple and red Ariados. The spider Pokemon hissed angrily as it locked eyes with the Golbat.

"Bring it to me."

The Ariados immediately sprang into action, bringing the bat down with sticky webs. It clung to the Pokemon's wings and stuck him to the grass, and the spider relished in how trapped and helpless it had become. With a quick fell stinger to the back, the Golbat lay quiet and defeated.

Emma made quick work attempting a capture, forgetting all about Jacob for the time being.

Jacob could only narrow his eyes at the Kalosian as she told him that bonding was a sign of weakness. "Yeah? At least I know my Pokemon has my back, and just won't run out on me the moment things start to get ugly!", Jacob retorted angrily. Indeed, when strength and force was the only way to keep a Pokemon in line, the moment they saw weakness is the moment they'd lose respect for their trainer. Besides, Jacob had his Pokemon far longer than he had been a member of Team Rocket.

But before he could rip into her about the personal feelings remark, trouble followed. While his Pangoro was able to take out the Purugly rather handily, an Arbok would attempt to sneak up on him. Morrigan would let out a yelp to warn him of the oncoming serpent, prompting Jacob to quickly get out of the way, before the Arbok could bite down on him. But rather than calling Jack over to deal with it, Jacob would instead bring out Pierce the Pawniard.

Though initially Intimidated by the presence of the Arbok, a sense of Defiance caused Pierce to quickly shake it off in favor of rage. The Arbok would move to Wrap around the steely body of the Pawniard. "Swords Dance!", Jacob would call out to his Pawniard.

Before the Arbok could wrap around him, the Pawniard boosted his strength further with a quick dance to pump himself up. Once the Arbok wrapped around him, the venomous snake would attempt to spit Acid onto him, only to find that the Pawniard's body didn't react to the liquid.

"Iron Head!"

Pierce bucked his head back, before smashing it as hard as he could into the Arbok's. With a shocked and agonized cry, the Arbok wound up passing out from the attack, her grip on the body of the Pawniard immediately faltering. Pierce would then walk back over to his master, barely phased by the Arbok.

It was at this point that Jack made it back to his trainer. "Good job, both of you.", Jacob said to the duo quietly.

Emma's eyes narrowed seriously as Jacob continued to berate her and talk back. Either he had no respect for his higher-ups, or he had no idea who she was.

"Mutual respect is stronger than adoration and affection, grunt. Clearly, you have no such respect for those above you."

Her voice is smooth, but packing a punch. She barely takes her eyes off of the young man to take note of the two new wild Pokemon charging them. Jacob continues to release more of his Pokemon to fend off their new assailants.

Emma does this as well. Just as the Krookodile appears, snarling and raging, all teeth and claws, Emma releases her Lycanroc. The midnight form Pokemon locks claws with the wild Krookodile.

The two go down in a cloud of smoke and rage, snarling and snapping at one another. Finally, after a few moments of struggle, the Lycanroc comes out on top. Blood drips from the mongrel's mouth as he lumbers back to Emma's side. The 'dile lays motionless, likely deceased due to the vicious cycle of odeur sleuth, crunch and counter.

"Even my Pokemon know their place."

Jacob would shoot the woman an irritated look as soon as she made the insinuation that he didn't respect those above him. While he didn't like where his life had taken him, clearly, he wasn't going to take that sitting down. Especially if she were the type to try to spread that around to other Rockets. "Yeah, what makes you say that? Just because I approach my Pokemon differently from you, lady?", Jacob replied with the question, clearly hostile.

While the answer was clear, Emma would have to reveal herself to find out where he truly stood on the matter.

A Deino, hearing the commotion from the distance, rushed up to the two humans. The blind dragon would be spotted by the Pangoro, who would rush in behind her. The Deino would hear the Pangoro coming, and turn around, firing off a Dragon Pulse from her mouth at the lumbering panda. But because of her lack of sight, and the natural capability for a Pangoro to dodge attacks, Jack was able to easily maneuver himself to avoid the blast, before closing in for a Sky Uppercut.

The fist connected, sending the Deino flying, landing near Jacob's feet. With a final groan, the Deino, who miraculously survived the attack, passed out. Jacob took a look at her, before seeing Jack coming back to him. Giving the big guy a thumbs up, Jacob took out a vacant Pokeball, and tapped the Deino with it, hoping it'd stick.

Emma smiles, but it's not particularly friendly. In fact, there seems to be some sort of darkness swelling in her eyes, some sort of unveiled threat.

"No, it's because you don't seem to know who your superiors are. I don't think you'd be throwing such idle threats if you knew who you were speaking with."

Her eyes snap to the side, watching in silence as a blind Deino comes charging up the hill the pair stand on. Jacob's Pangoro makes quick work of the wild baby dino, even while it attempts to blast the dark type to smithereens with it's powerful dragon pulse. Her eyes narrow in interest. While at first she hadn't seemed all that interested, witnessing the power behind the now useless Pokemon was.. peculiar.

Something else sidled up to them, unbeknownst to Emma. Apparently the Salandit had not gone unnoticed by the woman's Ariados, who had struck it into the ground before it could get too close. It had malicious intent, surely, as foamy bubbles of toxin gargled around it's teeth. It seemed to be gasping for air, though, as the spider continued to press it further and harder into the dirt.

"Enough, its learned its lesson. Let me see this bold little lizard."

Emma closes the distance between herself and the Salandit, who still seems angry and on edge, like she had stepped foot on territory the poison type owned.

"I like you, you're useful. Sneaky and.. slippery. Convenient."

The Ariados tightened her hold on the squirming beast as Emma reached for a pokeball.

"Make sure it doesn't escape."

Ariados immediately begins to wrap the Salandit in a thick layer of spider web, bundling the black salamander up tightly so it can't flee. Emma then attempts to capture it, eyes sparkling with some twisted form of excitement.

Jacob, being too dense to understand what the Beast was getting at, narrowed his eyes at her when she made the comment. "Idle threats? What the fuck are you on about!? And what the fuck do you mean I don't know who my superiors are!?", Jacob asked her, still agitated over the way the woman was speaking to him. It would seem that the Beast would need to spell it out to the lad directly, as he was just too dense to see what she was hinting at.

Jacob couldn't help but look on at the way Emma and her Ariados handled the Salandit. Even among the things he'd seen and done over the past year, this came off as particularly cruel to the young man, especially when the Ariados strung her up. He couldn't help but internally question if he'd be seeing worse in due time.

All he could do was collect the Pokeball that housed his new Deino in silence.

Emma didn't care that Jacob thought she was cruel - she knew who she was and she owned it. Her Pokemon were loyal to her without doubt. She lead them with an iron fist, but they in turn respected her and did as she bid them to. There was no questioning the twisted bond she had with her Pokemon.

His attitude, however, reflected that he really had no idea who she was or what she was capable of. She stands up slowly from her kneeling position next to the fallen Salandit. Her hand is rolling the small pokeball in her hands as the capture succeeds.

The woman turns to Jacob, coldness reflected in her dark eyes. Ariados has also begun to approach Jacob, her body language suggesting he tread carefully in regards to his attitude towards her master. The creature even lets out a soft hiss to warn him, her venomous teeth clicking together thoughtfully.

"Are you so daft and impotent that you don't recognise one of the four beasts when you see one? I'm surprised we haven't already disposed of such useless grunts such as yourself."

Granted, she didn't care as much as she wanted him to think she did - she simply enjoyed instilling fear in those ignorant enough to be intimidated. Typically she herself kept a low profile and didn't often associate herself directly with grunts. She worked alone, and simply came to the aid of her fellow Team Rocket comrades when the need arose.
