"just because i can't change it doesn't mean i have to like it either. it's just well wishing on my part. what could've been." he clears the glass of the nearby vicinity and starts to pack his laptop. it goes back into his bag which he leaves on the stool.

"i am working with what can be - i'm working with what i have. you should know that by now." the implication goes beyond the two of them. whether or not she'll catch it is up to how to interprets it. regardless, isra knows full well the resistance he faces and how the league's placed numerous shackles on his initiatives. not all of them are malicious or even intentional but they exist nonetheless.

he knows but plays stupid if only to further coerce her into clarifying. it's been a recent techniques he's been using on her to get her to elaborate on matters that he expects push back on. by now, she should be used to it. having him require additional explanations due to ignorance has always been more impactful then requiring it for malice.

She gives him a knowing look. She doesn't need to clarify, the conversation topic should lead him in the right direction and she confident he's not stupid. That much has been made very evident over the days she's been working for him.

"You should probably go before that face gets stuck on you, it's not as flattering as that smile even if it is a little smug."

Her chuckle is oft as she stands up from her stool, smoothing out her dress.

"and if you want a performance to be believable it helps to have the face that matches." she believes he's had the alcohol well enough but he's no longer going to make headway, and if he can't he'll want to leave. So unless he does something to further prolong things she'll let the process be what it will be.

"The sooner you accept it the better, my father spent a life time trying to get it out of me and yet, here we are! Still sassy. And you don't help the case either." besides it was part of her charm, the wild little eccentric thing that made sense in one senstence but not in the other. How else would she stand out in a crowd?

"Same as I said earlier, I'll be back long enough to make sure nothing else needs my attention and then I'll occupy myself for the night as always." she tilted her head a bit. "Should I have other plans?"

a wry grin finds a crack in his otherwise bothered expression. "i'm not your father, isra." it's a mental note to do a little more digging into isra's background and her family. having to spawn and raise a daughter like that - he can only imagine the pain considering her background. no wonder she's stuck in her dead in the water marriage.

"i'm heading home-" he leaves the comment as a cliffhanger rather than an absent minded comment. there's an implication of something more, the way his tone flows and seems suggestive, but he'll never explicitly mention it. what he does do is follow standard protocol. the capture mechanism on two of his pokeballs are tapped and the pair of kecleon and ditto spill out onto the bar's floor. immediately the ditto takes after the kecleon, both of them chirping before fading out of view. kecleon's trademark red strip disappears too as the pokemon slinks off somewhere out of sight.

he's been drinking and he'd prefer no better supervision.

"No." her voice goes low and her eyes narrow a moment. "But obedience was something he was quite fond of as well." and only got when it suited her, Fernando may find himself facing the same fate.

She can't help but get caught on something in his tone and she's not blind to it. However she knows the dangers of playing the wrong card here and that is what makes her almost walk away without saying anything. She turns back to him after a couple steps, hand on her hips. "If you want something, ask for it."" she almost tells him he's not a 3 year old but decides that is pushing it.

There's a curiosity back in her eyes though, curious where this will go.
