Thistle saw the Cherubi before he did and his little Fomantis toddled off at the speed of… a fast toddler. She approached the Cherubi and tapped the smaller berry to get its attention; the Cherry Pokemon turned, a confused expression on its face. Thistle waggled her scythes. Play. Cherubi bounced in place-- then, they began chasing each other in circles.

Sy watched for a while until they both got dizzy and fell down. He collected the slightly dazed Cherubi in a Safari Ball for safekeeping.

Amazingly, Thistle’s tactic of playing with the wild Pokemon and running them in circles until they both got dizzy and fell down worked again, this time with the Togepi-- though the little egg-shaped Pokemon did roll along the ground, making it a little bit harder of a target to hit.

“Good job, Thistle!” Sy cheered, flashing his Fomantis a thumbs up. “Keep up the good work!”

Thistle made a pained hiccuping noise as Vermillion tutted over the nauseated mantis.

The next time Thistle tried to approach a Pokemon and play with them, it backfired. Sy had barely enough time to try and caution her against it when the Nidoran made an angry rodent shriek and launched herself at the Fomantis. Luckily, Vermillion was there to distract the Nidoran with a blizzard of petals, warped up into a funnel cloud around the blue creature; Sy waited for the petals to fall before catching the thing in a safari ball.

He picked a panting Thistle up and held the mantis close. “Sometimes you gotta be more careful than that!” he said, but his words seemed to fall on deaf ears as she jumped out of his arms and tried to run back into the Safari Zone brush to find a new playmate.
