The way Caden sauntered up and drawled on seemed to confirm that sneaking and nagging suspicion deep in Elliott's gut: he was the mystery date. Why Caden Maher, of all the people in Hoenn?

He'd sooner try to go on a date with Cian, since they could play it off as two bros going out and having drinks.

But his best friend's twin always had something that provoked Eli. And he wasn't sure if it was a good or a bad thing. He hardly had time to open his mouth and speak when he began to whisper in his ear. Eli's stomach flipped, and his face betrayed him as it turned hot and scarlet.

"I wasn't expecting you to be the blind date. That's all," he said, squirming from his arm and using an open hand to push away from Caden with the help of his chest as support.

Elliott covered his mouth with a hand, disguising his masking of his blush as a cough before clearing his throat.

"Nor did I really expect someone like you to accept a blind date in the first place..."

honestly, he's glad that it's him. it would have been cumbersome to meet someone new — someone who's mannerisms he hasn't already committed to memory, who he wasn't familiar with, and who he didn't already know all the ways that he could make them blush.

[break][break] as expected, a pretty blush rises on the other's features that caden can't help but appreciate. he takes a second longer to let his presence linger, even squeezing his shoulder gently, but then eventually lets himself be pushed off.

[break][break] "alright," he says. "lead the way. what's the great eli have in store for us today?" a smirk slides over his face. "feel free to use all your patented one-liners on me. i can test them out for you."

Elliott wanted to send a punch straight into Caden's face. Or wherever would hurt the most. Not because he was angry. It was a coping mechanism for himself, perhaps a way for Eli to try to run away or hide.

Because he had a feeling the longer this date went on, the more and more likely it was that he would want to implode on the spot.

"There's a dinner reservation. Kantoan food. This place is actually pretty good," he said, having dined in this particular restaurant as part of his creative work as a model.

Again, his face betrayed him. Therefore, he tried to turn away.

"Why do you think I'm so interested in Cian? He and I are just friends. Nothing more," Eli insisted.

kanto food, huh? unlike some other rockets, caden has never had the luxury of going to kanto. though, perhaps luxury was putting in thinly - from the sounds of it, he was probably glad that he wasn't allowed back there. borders and all. did they even have fresh water?

[break][break] the look on Elliott Jenkins's face is priceless. he can't help but let out a laugh, sliding forward and leaning his elbow on the other's shoulder.

With his jaw clenched, he looked at Caden long and hard, trying to find some way to reply to him to sound confident and sure of himself. And then, he was hit with one.

"Only if the date goes well."

Though, he wasn't sure if that would put him in hot water or not. Elliott tried mustering a smirk, to boost his confidence. And yet, he felt like it was squashed back down when he put his elbow back on his shoulder.

"Leave me alone," he mumbled, taking away his arm rest and leading him inside.

[break][break] caden's not really sure how much CIAN MAHER has shared with his best friend. to be honest, the two brothers don't talk about it all that much — their dating lives, sure, but also caden's work. and no, he's not talking about his residency at lilycove's general hospital.

[break][break] the blond pushes him away, but caden is not deterred. insatiable as always, that one. as he walks beside him, he leans over. he pauses when a couple passes and once they're out of earshot, he whispers, "do you have an only fans, eli?"

[break][break] but there's not enough time to hear the answer to the question, because soon they're in the middle of a bustling restaurant. caden lifts a hand to get the hostess' attention and they're brought to a table soon after.

Of course, Elliott heard what he said, as they entered. And he had no time to answer, coming up to the receptionist to claim their reservations.

Of course, he had time to blush.

They were escorted upstairs, to a nice, secluded area. Now, he was wishing that it was more open and public, to avoid the teasing and whatever else Caden was trying to pull on him.

"I don't have an Only Fans. Are you that horny to think about me like that?"

[break][break] for the first time since seeing him, caden diverts his eyes elsewhere. he allows the blond to blush in peace as he peruses their menu. hmm.. some sinnoh wine would be nice. it reminded him a bit of Antoinette Spina .

[break][break] when he decides, looks up again. his chin falls into his hand, elbow leaning onto the table.

Elliott looked up from his menu, looking rather confused from the sudden surge of compliments. Okay, well, he had been getting complimented the entire evening thus far, but being told to have more confidence?

It just seemed unlike Caden to tell him that. He had expected more flirting, more shallow comments.

"And how do you propose that?" he asked, a mixture of genuine curiosity and challenge.

compliments were easy for a person like caden, even if it wasn't as easy for elliot to receive.

[break][break] he hums beneath his breath, as if in thought. he stares straight at Elliott Jenkins, letting the silence fill the space between them. awkward for some — indulging for caden.

[break][break] he stares at his brother's best friend the same way that he had perused the menu. appreciative.

His proposal momentarily threw Elliott off. A photoshoot? His brows rose, then furrowed in confusion as he looked at Caden. Then, he spoke.

"You do realize that I'm a professional model, right? I do photoshoots all the time," he said.

Unless... Caden was implying something else entirely. He wasn't entirely sure as a bottle of sake was placed on the table, followed with appetizers.

[break][break] "have you ever taken of photos of yourself? you know, without the lights, cameras and all that pizazz." wiping one of his fingers on napkin, his other hand gestures in the air. "it's easy when you have people doing things for you. quite another when you do things yourself."
