unexpectedly, they find themselves back in the safari zone after a visit not so long ago.[break][break]

this time, though, they bring along their trusted dragapult. with tensions rising, it feels more and more pressing to be prepared. so just a bit more training squeezed in can't hurt - nor can a few catches? fern decided it was beneficial to avoid mt. pyre in the days leading up to the expected infiltration day, even if that's their place of preference. so safari zone it is.[break][break]

"that's not so bad though, hm ceci?" they ask as their companion floats alongside them. "have at it." eagerly, she darts off into the underbrush.

Fern is content to wait while Cecilia does her thing. He is not about to follow after her until he hears her stirring up conflict or a chase, so instead hangs out on the path. He checks his watch, his phone, but the signal isn’t all that good here so it’s not like he has much of anything to do for the time being.[break][break]

Or such is the case until he hears a little mrrp! of sound, and looks around curiously. The swish of a tail hanging down from a low tree branch gives away the curious purrloin, and Fern’s face lights up in a delight smile, “here kitty kitty,” he cajoles sweetly, stepping beneath the branch with a hand extended in offering, “pspsps.”[break][break]

Once she inspects his hand and decides he’s safe with a headbutt against his palm, Fern lifts her quite easily off the branch and tickles at her chin as a pleased purr rumbles from her throat. “We’re gonna call you Pearl, mmhm.”[break][break]

As Fern preens over the contented purrloin in his arms, a sudden rustling of the bushes and the flapping of wings followed by the reptilian coo he knows to be Cecilia’s snaps him back to attention. Pearl’s ears prick up, and she tenses in Fern’s hold when feathers plume up into the air and the raucous squawking of a murkrow precede the bird being chased out into the open by his dragapult. Thrilled by the chase, dragon darts follow the poor thing as it tries to flap up out of reach, but the dreepies ping into it regardless.[break][break]

“Oh dear, let’s give it a break, hm? he mutters to the purrloin who has resettled comfortably. Before Ceci can follow with a blast of dragon breath, fern tosses out a safari ball.[break][break]

Satisfied with his snag, Fern gives Ceci another scratch under the chin when she approaches. She eyes the purrloin in his arms distrustfully, but is soon distracted by the affection given. “Good girl, my best girl. Let’s wrap this up, yes?” He points toward a fennekin as it tumbles into view, obviously attempting to free itself from the brush it had been hidden in.[break][break]

A small wheel of flame from its FIRE SPIN shoots in the dragapult’s direction, but she shoots upward out of the way easily. Maw opening, she blasts a cloud of DRAGON BREATH at it, stunning it in place with a paralytic crackle.
