It was time for the Adebayo family reunion. Not that there was much of a family left. Mom pretended dad didn’t exist. His sister sat in a corner shaking her leg until all the people left. Dad tried to pick up every hot teenager in sight. It’d be like watching trash TV if it wasn’t his family. Still, he needed to go, so he summoned his typical limo driver. [break][break]

Which, of course, he didn’’t do in a standard way. Today’s summons arrived in the form of a manila envelope and a cassette tape. On it, Oz did his best impression of an old spy master. “Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to get me to the airport by 4:57 PM.” You could hear the grin in his voice. “Can’t wait to squish your bulldog cheeks!!” With that, he signed off.[break][break]

As Oz stood waiting at the curb outside his home, his phone seemed to be glued to his hand. A Comfey lay dozing around his neck, tired from an all-night crappy movie marathon. An Eelektross hovered to his right, fighting back a yawn. To his right, Chip attempted to teach little ICEE a super-secret handshake. The Porygon, meanwhile, were just circling their trainer’s heads like cartoon birds.[break][break]

You wouldn’t be remiss to think he was doing important business stuff. The holly-jolly CEO tended to be a workaholic. But, today, he tried his best to actually be on vacation. “SWEET!” His phone shouted back at him as he hit a new streak. Watching the candy chaos that followed brought a smile to his face. As he moved to start the next round, Stasia nudged him with a flipper.[break][break]

“Yeah, yeah. I see him, and he's tardy to the party.” He didn’t even look up as he stepped onto the street, tossing his bag in the limo’s backseat. “Alola, Bern!” He called out with a distracted grin. “How’s the hubs?” Without waiting for an answer, he and the Pokemon piled in. “You like the tape? I thought you’d get a kick out of it.”[break][break]

Once the Gholdengo slid in, the door was shut. Another swipe and another SWEET.

The partition doesn't lower, so the voice is a little muffled. Still, a seemingly elderly voice calls back. "Hearty and healthy, good sir." was the response. The limo takes off, driving as the driver grinned to himself, jowls stretching and moving in turn. "Hilarious, sir." he said without an ounce of sarcasm. Quite the opposite, it's almost comical how Oz would soon realize he may have manifested this. [break][break]

The driver turns on the AC for the back compartment. The vents turn on, beginning to blast a harmless SWEET SCENT that'd been prepped hours ago. As the relaxing smell drafted through, the car began speeding up, sliding into the highway and beginning to drive away from the airport. "Sir, as you must know, a spy can never be too cautious when escorting their target." he said to buy himself time as they moved farther and farther away from civilization. [break][break]

It's at this point, with the limo beginning to speed up and slow, turn to take an exit followed by another and another turn to confuse and disorient his passengers, SLEEP POWDER began to filter out through the vents. "Take a rest, we'll be there after a bit of traffic." [break][break]

They most certainly were not there. The airport had been long abandoned, the limo discarded. The pokemon? Returned to their pokeballs, after Mint and a few grunts had dug through the millionaires pockets and then his bags. "There, right there." he would say, as someone helped propping up a camera for him and another grunt dusted a make up brush on Oz's face. "Proof of life incoming, We'll release in, about a day and a half? Should be enough." he said. "Check his socials and how often they're updated."

[attr="class","text"]A nap sounded good, huh? By the time he noticed the air glittered, he couldn’t keep his eyes open. His Pokemon did the same, minus GL1TCH. But the Porygon-Z wasn’t exactly a hero. He just circled his trainer’s head, beeping at him curiously. When the time came to return to his ball, he did so happily.[break][break]

Ozni regained consciousness slowly. His tongue felt like a block of lead in his mouth—the surrounding tissue dry as a Galarian’s joke. Instead of plush faux leather, he was sat up in an Office Depot clearance chair. The fabric was itchy. His arms were handcuffed to the arms.Well, someone’s gotten himself in a little pickle. Resisting the urge to open his eyes, he soaked in what information he could.[break][break]

He tried his best to keep his breathing down. What these guys didn’t know would help him. It might give him a better idea of what’s going on. Right now, he figured it was one of three things: an avid fan wanting to Misery their way through Fifty Shades. A prank by one of his rich Alolan buddies. Some broke-arse rube looking for ransom money.[break][break]

There were at least five or six people around. One of them—with a surprisingly chipper voice—was calling out orders. As the make-up brush touched him, Ozni pretended to stir. He did so slowly. Blinking in the bright lights. “Nnngh—what’s—” He dropped his gaze to the brush. He hoped that stuff was vegan and aluminum free. A hostage situation was bad enough without him breaking out in hives. Deciding to play it cool, he stared up at the nearest Rocket. [break][break]

“You could at least try shade-matching, babe.”[break][break]

Brushing off the peon, he turned to face Mint. “Alolan Air better give my points back for this.” He sighed, wrinkling his nose as it started to itch. Leaning back in the chair, Oz focused on the ceiling for a minute. It wasn’t really a defining feature. The CEO did his best to seem nonplussed. Even if some part of him was terrified. “So, who put you up to this? Atticus? Chloe?” This kind of prank was just like them.[break][break]

“Can we take five?” He grinned. “Daddy’s got to tinkle.”

The grunt handling the make up, masked as they were, still recoiled a bit as the victim of their kidnapping woke up. Mint, or well Neon, as he was dressed for today, turned away from the camera equipment to look at Oz. The neutral LED expression quickly swapped into a bright ( literally ) grin. "Oh more than that, sweet cheeks. Probably. But our network says your team has been harassing Alolan Air for some type of refund." he shrugged. It'd been boring, he hadn't listened for long. [break][break]

"Bern's ok by the way. He took your flight instead. He'll wake up when he gets there, confused and hung over to hell, but fine. With his hubby." he continued, the electronic tinge in his voice cheerful. [break][break]

With a small gesture, the action around him continued. Grunts are turning on lights and fans to keep the place cool. Others are testing the microphones and the camera to make sure it all went smoothly. Any windows and outside light had already been blocked off. [break][break]

"Don't move so much. My assistant's trying to make you look less washed out." he said. "We want this proof to be you happy and healthy right? Then again, maybe your fans would like to see you a little roughed up?" he shrugs. "You know how crazy fandoms are." [break][break]

At the request he taps his chin thgouthfully before replying with a firm, "Hold it. Let them finish their work you can have your morning peepee."

[attr="class","text"]Ozni just tried his best to keep the nerves out of his face. He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t terrified, but he didn’t need to act like it. Why give these weirdos the satisfaction?[break][break]

He met Mint’s grin with one of his own. It wasn’t hard to find the director on set. They were the ones calling the shots. “Aww! Look at those cheapskates go. Daddy’s so proud.” He sniffed melodramatically, handcuffs rattling as he tried to lift his hand to his mouth. “Bet kidnapping is not covered though. Fine print is a biiiiitch.” That was why he made a habit of reading everything. Or, at least, most of it until he got bored.[break][break]

At the talk of Bern, the CEO breathed a sigh of relief. The last thing he wanted was for the driver to take a hit for this. “Good. Guy deserved a vacation.” And, even if this dude was lying, there was no way he could tell. “I doubt mom even notices a difference..” This was, obviously, sarcasm. Bernie was a good hundred pounds heavier than Oz with skin the color of milk. And, of course, he had bulldog eyes—not the sea blue eyes Oz sported.[break][break]

The request to stop squirming is successful. The last thing he wanted was cheap makeup in his eyes. That stuff smarts. “If this breaks me out, I’m suing.” Hopefully, these kidnappers sprung for the good stuff. The organic, vegan, fuzzy-wuzzy heart stuff. At the talk of pain, the CEO chuckled. The noise is stilted and awkward. “You don't have to tell me twice. Pretty sure half the girls ae serial killers.” He doubted they’d give him a coliseum thumbs-down, though. Tech bros didn’t bay for his blood.

His lip poofed out in a faux pout as he wiggled in his chair. “Come on, man, that’s not—” He blinked. A hand moved to wave the nearest make-up cadet away. The CEO leaned over to peer at the ringleader, his chair balancing on one leg. “Wait, did you say morning?” Just how long had he been tied to this chair?! “What time is it?” If he missed Price Is Right, he’d be a grumpy sally.

Neon shrugged. "Who cares. You're rich aren't you? Daddy's money will burn regardless." The masked grunt flutters her brush on Oz's cheeks a more before swapping to a beauty blender to pat down setting powder on his skin. [break][break]

"Anymore whining and I'll pause production to go get me some Claire's Makeup from the local mall." he added, looking at his gloved fingers like he was checking his nails. The mention of serial killers makes him laugh. "What's the qualifications for serial killer again?" he shouted jovially at one of his grunts who had just finished lighting. "Uhhh...you just....kill people sir?" Neon nodded. [break][break]

"Ok, ok, wait let's test this. Who here's a girl? Raise your hand." The grunts do as asked, including the make up assistant. "Ok, drop your hand if you haven't killed more than one person-" he said as the hands drop. He counts quietly before turning back to Oz. "Look at that, right on the money huh?" The implicit threat hangs in the air as they get right back to working after he dismisses his helpers. [break][break]

He manages to wave off the assistant but when she notes she's still not finished the Beast moves over to the excitable man and give him a short jab of his fist right under his ribs. "Sir, do you mind holding still for my assistant to finish?" he asked, voice still light and cheery. [break][break]

"Don't make me ask a third time." goes the next warning. [break][break]

He lets the tension sit, pulling his hand away and firmly grasping Oz by one shoulder to shove his chair firmly on the ground, finger digging in harshly before relaxing as he moved away. "I don't carry a watch." there's another shrug. Grunts move in, gesturing at him the camera as well as the cards that the man would be reading off of. "Ok. Have the encrypted account ready for payout. They'll probably make their kid wait a few days but we can hold out longer. Make ups a beautiful thing." he said, the neutral LED expression brightening again into a wicked smile.

There were poor people out there who needed that. Or, at least, rich dudes down on their luck who needed him to invest it. [break][break]

“You know it’s not just mine, right?" As the makeup brush switched, he did his best to ignore the itching in his nose. What was it about being trussed up that made you itchy? The man feigned melancholy. “Your depriving future little Ozzies of their trust fund.” [break][break]

If some terrorist asshole was going to take him out (or was sent here by his buddies), he’d make sure it was embarrassing. It was the least he could do with someone who ruined his first actual vacation in two years. Still, at the talk of Clare’s, Oz’s whimpering stopped. That shit definitely burned off Buneary lashes. Maybe he’d just find and mock the video later. There was some way he could make himself look better. [break][break]

The talk of serial killers drew out a nervous chuckle. But, he couldn’t exactly let that definition pass. “Pretty sure you can’t do it all in one sitting either.” Mass bombings were terrible, but they didn’t exactly engender terror the way a serial killing psychopath did. That’s why terrorists don’t get episodes on Dateline.” When the hands go up, he swallows. Another peal of laughter dies in his throat. These guys are really into it, huh? It’s not like I’m actually in danger, right? No one answered him. Of course not.

“Yeah, yeah. Fine. I’ll be a good little hostage." But it was really hard to sit still. The fact that he was being told to suddenly made every muscle erupt in pins and needles. Chill out, Oz. When the other man’s hand digs into his shoulder, the CEO winces. The chair thumps down with a metallic clang. “Owch, babe. Do you have to be so rough?” It wasn’t like the chair actually posed a threat to anybody on two legs. Just his ego if he sent it toppling over.

“You know—” Oz’s blue eyes trailed to the cards. “--you could have just asked me for the money.” He took a deep breath, his attention flickered to the camera. A hand across the way tapped it to the card. “I’d get it to you faster.” With a deep breath, he began reciting the words in front of him. But, at one part, he paused. With an incredulous expression, he turned to his captor.

"You say that like I'm not going to send you off without your future little Ozzies." he said as his assistant finally finished the heavy makeup. Now came the lights. Huge, hot rim lights, shining down on Oz like a true star. Only the best for their captured CEO. [break][break]

To his question Neon just asks, "When's the last time you had a bone broken, babe?" Another grunt drops some tools loudly on a nearby table, and takes out a mallet, followed by a thick wrench. You know, for emphasis. [break][break]

The set clears, and Neon gets behind the cameras to let their superstar take the stage. Halfway through there's pouting and Neon finally gets up, mid recording. "I don't think you're taking me seriously." he said, expression dropping to a frown on the screen. He looms over Oz, letting the man look at his own reflection before striking him. A sudden backhand. Again, for emphasis. [break][break]

"Save the theatrics until after." Though a part of him felt like this would continue anyway. He looks at some of the make up on his hand before down to Oz's cheek and his thoughtfully before turning away. "Leave it. The hit adds to the danger." [break][break]

After a while, they get what they need. Proof of life. Demands. Timeline. "Explain again how willing you said you were to just give out money?" Neon said after a long stretch of ignoring Oz. He figured people like him got screwy when they didn't get attention. He could sympathize. "What happened to its not just my money?"

At this point, Ozni was sweating, and he wasn’t sure it was all the spotlight’s fault. Hopefully, the designer fabrics were as good at wicking off sweat as they claimed. The last thing he wanted was to show up on screen like a greased pig.

When Mint spoke again, Oz wasn’t sure if he should be panicked or not.
