Year 4 of the Unending Dream. That's the term that Xenon had coined for this alternate world at some point recently, though the name seemed to change frequently depending on her mood. She couldn't let herself settle into habits, couldn't sink into stagnation like the rest of the Rockets had.

Burn, break, destroy, riot, revolt, discover, create, innovate, it was always something new with her whenever she came back to Ballonlea from the ruins of Galar, always a roll of the dice if she would be bringing back some new discovery on the nature of the world they were trapped in, or if she was going to be trying to break down the monarchy that they had instated.

Today was more of an overthrow the monarchy kind of day as Xenon sets off another explosive near the Ballonlea Power Spot.

"And so I say unto you all, throw down your crowns and embrace the Ultramodern Future, shake free the chains that bind you to thrones of straw and build a world where the individual can prove themselves! True strength lies not in the collective past, but instead in one man's ability to crush everyone standing in their way!" And so the speech goes as Xenon proselytizes in the flickering light of the Power Spot, her Iron Jugulis flying overhead and marking anyone who might approach her to try and arrest her for what is the fifth year in a row now.

jayden was by no means a perfect king. especially compared to others such as luka chêne who had settled flawlessly into the role, or even Rhydia Ver who fit into it in her own way, jayden's ascension had been awkward at best. he was by no means a social person. but if he had one unwavering certainty, it was his ability to wield retribution, like a sharpened blade tempered by justice's hand.

[break][break] soaring down on his ROARING MOON, ballonea's king announced his arrival with a roar of powerful wings. flames licked the air as a FLAMETHROWER blasted towards the terrorist and her iron jugulis.

The pitiful shades ignore her as they always do, Xenon expects nothing less from the mindless NPCs who even bothered with this monarchy system in the first place, but that's not why she's here protesting. She's here because she's bored, she's here because she wants to piss someone off, she's here because she wants to hurt people.

She gets what she wants and in spades.

The shadow in the corner of her eye halts her speech and she turns to the king with a smile, raising her hand to her lips and letting out a sharp whistle. "You think you can take my time king, go ahead and try." From above the war machine dives as jayden cross approaches, she doesn't even move as flames build in the primitive pokemon's gullet, she simply lets Chromium ram its body into the Roaring Moon from the side as it knocks the beast off course and lets out a digital roar.

"Always make your first shot count 'king', otherwise you'll find your head rolling across the ground when I counter!" The twin heads rise and their mouths open in turn, the peasantry are beginning to really scatter now as a tunnel of wind rips from Chromium's maw to slap Jayden out of the air, a Hurricane tearing through everything in its path without regard for collateral damage or safety.

the roar of the beast knocks into him, but vodnik is strong. the roaring moon doesn't budge as he's knocked into, and jayden's gaze is fierce as it snaps to the assailant.

[break][break] "you're naive," he responds in turn. "if you think a bit of wind is enough to knock us down."

[break][break] he doesn't need to direct his roaring moon. once more, FLAMETHROWER shoots out from the prehistoric pokemon's maw.
vodnik is full of enough fire and then some — he rushes through the blast of hurricane as if it is nothing - because it is nothing - just as the hilt of one of his doublades find it's way into his hand.

[break][break] the metal edge pierces through, aiming to strike Xenon Antheil between the ribs.

Xenon doesn't have any words left for the king now, all she can do is draw her blade in response as he leaps forwards to try and skewer her, narrowly moving the strike aside as she twists around the blow and rams her shoulder into him to knock him back. She can't take him on in a contest of raw strength, not when he has a Doublade as his weapon, not when she only has one arm to strike with, but she hasn't spent these past five years stagnating and letting her Pokemon do all the work for her.

Her preferred longsword is replaced by a thin rapier pointed up at Jayden's chest, she backs up out of his range and stands in such a way as to minimize the area of her body to stab at. A thin smile is directed at the king, tinted with malice and a low chuckle rumbling up from her throat. And then she's on the attack as she pushes forwards and begins a series of stabbing motions right at him.

Rhodium similarly would rely on calculations and strategy once raw force proves ineffectual against the primitive beast, an Electric Terrain deploying from its feet as it tanks the Flamethrower with a crunchy roar of pain. Its metal body turns red hot as it takes the brunt of the flames without any kind of protection, but it was worth it as the electricity in the air activates its Quark Drive, the light of its eyes intensifying as it turns back to the Roaring Moon and strikes out with another Hurricane. All it takes is a single glance to know that this force of nature isn't to be taken lightly as it literally tears up chunks of the ground as the wind flies towards Vodnik, its force nearly doubled from the pitiful wind that had come at it prior. This would be no curbstomp for Jayden by any means, if he wanted to take Xenon down, he was going to have to earn this victory.

though there are many things he and Xenon Antheil may not see eye-to-eye on, they at least can agree on this. they will let their blades speak for them.

[break][break] the rapier plunges through the thin air, and jayden is quick to parry it with his own string of attacks. clang, clang, clang. a thrill fills him when he's reminded of his past, of the battle he once shared with Greyson Connors and countless others. trained in THEO BECKETT's name has taught him how to wield a weapon and wield it well, his sword clashes easily with Xenon Antheil's blade. the last of the attacks is accompanied by a pulsing glow of his blade, just as ROCK SLIDE comes crumbling down from above their attacker and her iron jugulis.

[break][break] when the HURRICANE rips through, stronger than before, it tears lashes in his royal armor. when it turns up chunks of ground, his roaring moon lashes out with a HYDRO PUMP. it careens through the flying rock and slices through, the column of water spiraling straight through towards Xenon Antheil as the roaring moon chases after it.

[break][break] following the liquid vortex is ballonea's king, his sword once again arching skyward in attempt to slash down atop her.

The ring of steel against steel is electrifying, one human's strength against another's, two dragons of the past and future letting loose the most primal of forces to determine the strength of time. Even with the obvious handicap Xenon suffers, she more than holds her own against the king as she weaves through the narrowest of openings to keep the offensive going, her lungs audibly heaving as she steps forwards and lashes out at Jayden's heart once again.

And once again she just barely misses her mark as the sound of crumbling rocks from above forces her to abandon her attack and leap back, narrowly avoiding being crushed by several tons of earth and forcing her on the defense as she starts dancing away from the king's assault. A rushing roar of water flies right towards her to cleave her torso in twain, but a sharp whistle prompts the Iron Jugulis to let loose a roaring gout of fire to clash against the Hydro Pump, flames hot enough to vaporize steel instantly evaporating the water blast into a thick scorching mist that envelops Xenon in its embrace.

Jayden leaps forwards and slices through the air to strike the girl down, but all he finds is his sword cleaving through empty space as Xenon disappears into the superheated fog, a crunch of grass and rocks underfoot would be his warning as she strikes from his right at his sword arm, the cover of the mist just barely hiding the burns she's accumulating as she tries to flip the script one last time!
