Summer Camp was something he had never attended. When he was younger his parents had thought something like summer camp would be too much for him. So they hadn’t allowed him to do anything like that. And he hadn’t heard anything about summer camp in Hoenn until now. Multiple summer camps has cropped up during the months and he had dismissed them all, seeing himself too old to attend and in no condition to help out.

And he hadn’t had any plans to change his mind about the manner until word of a certain ranch opening its door as a summer camp had reached his ears. Well okay his sister had heard about it and shown him the flyer. His sister had thought it would be fun. And a chance for him to be the kid that he still was. Because thirteen was still a kid according to his sister.

The camp would’ve been something he would’ve dismissed as well if he hadn’t seen that Audino would be involved. After that it hadn’t taken much to convince him to attend the camp. And he had allowed his sister to sign him up. But since the camp was in Verdanturf he had told his sister he would walk. After all there was no point in his sister dropping him off when they lived in Verdanturf.

So with Mirage, his Hisuian Zoroark, in tow he made his way to the ranch. Young kids made him a bit uncomfortable so upon reaching the camp he had made his way over to Audino. Deciding just to hang with them for a bit. Though he might at some point join the kids riding Arcanine, but would ride Mirage most likely.

He would greet the Audino warmly a soft smile on his face. Though he was a lover of all Pokémon, considering his dads line of work, he had always had a softer spot for normal type Pokémon. It was why he went out of his way to have all the Pokémon he had on his team he a normal typing. And usually didn’t catch Pokémon that didn’t have a normal typing.

The Audino seemed more than happy to cuddle with him even giving him a bit of healing. He felt is nerves ease and his breathing come a bit easier. Though he hadn’t noticed that his nerves had been affecting his breathing. It hadn’t affected his breathing enough to really be noticeable, not until the Audino had used heal pulse on him.

He gave the Audino a grateful smile before running a hand through Mirage’s fur to settle him. Sometimes the fox Pokémon could get a little jealous. But would always calm down if Axel gave him a bit of attention. ”Nothing to be jealous of Mirage,” he said, amusement coloring his tone.[break] Thomas Benoit

Hearing the Audino's delight made him happy. He took great joy in making a Pokémon happy, although it wasn't overly hard. In most cases, all it took was giving the Pokémon some attention, just like what he was doing with Pulse. However, his spectral companion wasn't happy about his attention going to another Pokémon.

His friend's jealousy was pretty amusing, so he couldn't help but tease him a bit. It seemed even Audino had noticed the fox Pokémon's jealousy, which only served to amuse him more. Especially considering Audino didn't seem fazed and was more than happy to give the spectral Pokémon some attention.

Before accepting the cuddle session with Pulse, Mirage looked at him as if looking for attention. Eyes glimmering with amusement, he inclined his head. Having his permission, Mirage accepted the cuddling from Audino.

Amusement fading slightly, he watched with curious eyes as the Audino hugged Mirage. Being unsure about whether the healer Pokémon had been around a Hisuian Zoroark, he was curious about how the other Pokémon would react to the feel of Mirage's fur.[break] Thomas Benoit

He observed the two to ensure they were getting along, as one could never be certain when it came to Pokémon. Fortunately, Mirage appeared content in the presence of the Audino, even allowing Pulse to use Heal Pulse on him.

Of course, he was aware of the lacerations. Despite Mirage not being as aggressive as most of his species, he still had them. Since he didn't have any Pokémon with healing abilities, he had never considered using a healing move on Mirage. Given that the species was prone to getting lacerations, he was actually curious to see if the healing move would work on the fox Pokémon.

Closely observing Mirage, he noticed a slight relaxation in the Pokémon. Something had definitely occurred. It was possible that healing the lacerations or providing some relief was achievable. He would definitely have to investigate further.

Before he could dwell too much on it, he felt a nudge on his leg. Blinking, he looked down to see an Eevee. "Hello, little one. Do you want to sit on my lap?" he asked, although he didn't expect a response.

Smiling, he stroked the Eevee for a few seconds before placing it on his lap. "There you go," he said, resuming his gentle petting.[break] Thomas Benoit

Mirage seemed to be soaking up all the attention, so he decided to focus on the Eevee in his lap. As he petted the Eevee, he thought about his own Pokémon companions. He loved them all and tried to give them equal amounts of attention, but it could be hard. Usually, Mirage was the one who received the most attention due to their closer attachment, but even then, he couldn't give him attention 24/7. Outside of Song, none of his Pokémon were the type to cuddle with one another, so when he was busy, it meant his Pokémon didn't get any attention.

That's why days like these were so special, even if he had only brought Mirage with him. Outside of Mirage and Song, his other Pokémon tended to wander off if he wasn't keeping a close eye on them. So, he had left Song in charge of the others while he came here with Mirage. He hadn't expected any of the ranch Pokémon to take a liking to Mirage, though. The fact that the Audino hadn't was a relief since he could play with the Eevee without the fox Pokémon getting jealous.

Relaxing further, he continued to cuddle with the Eevee. Eevee was so cute. He wanted one for his collection. He would keep it just as it was, though. It wasn't like there was some rule that he had to evolve Pokémon he obtained, after all.[break] Thomas Benoit

He was in the midst of petting the Eevee when the man running the camp called them over to have lunch. Was it that late already? He hadn't even noticed. He had been so caught up having fun with the Eevee and Audino that he hadn't even noticed the passing of time.

Knowing it was lunchtime made him realize just how hungry he was. It seemed like a long time ago since he had breakfast. Though he knew in reality it had only been a few hours.

Making sure to be gentle, he got Gene off his lap, giving him one last stroke as he got up.

Seeing his trainer get up, Mirage got up as well, seeming more reluctant to do so.

Absalom, seeing this, couldn't help but be amused. "Come on, Mirage, let's get something to eat. Perhaps we can come again another day," he told the fox Pokémon as he made his way over to the food table after dropping Mirage off at the table for Pokémon.

Reaching the table, he made himself a sandwich with some meat and vegetables provided, as well as a bottle of water, before finding a place to sit and starting to eat.[break] Thomas Benoit

He was enjoying his sandwich when he noticed the owner of the ranch making his way towards him. At the show of gratitude, his face heated up a bit in embarrassment. "Oh, it was no trouble," he said once he had swallowed his bite of food.

"Anyway, if anyone should be thanked, it should be Pulse. I've never really interacted with a lot of other kids, so I was a bit nervous. He helped me relax and even gave Mirage a healing session. Due to the nature of a Hisuian Zoroark, lacerations can appear on their body," he told the older male, his gaze flickering briefly to the two mentioned Pokémon.

Seeing that Mirage seemed content to eat, he turned his attention back to the older male. "Oh, right, where are my manners? My name's Absalom, but I also go by Axel."[break] Thomas Benoit
