The safari zone stretches out around them, shrouded in a dense layer of early evening fog. They’re one of the last to be allowed entry for the day, and they do not mind the gloomy, post-rain weather. It reminds them of Mt. Pyre and the slow roll of heavy mist that often permeates every corner of the mount. They walk along the water’s edge as their kingdra floats parallel from a deeper stretch of water. Waiting, biding time until they find whatever creeps out—intent on skirting by, disguised by the dreary weather.

The cherubi that eventually skittered out looked far too bright and sunny for the poor weather that permeated the area. Stooping, Fern peered down at it. "Aw, well aren't you a cute lil thing?" His hand stretched toward it, tentatively attempting to give it a little pat before tapping it with a safari ball.

Eventually they come across a cramorant in the shallows—looking much more at home in the damp weather than the little cherubi had. Though, granted, its orange feathers stick out like a sore thumb. Lir lifts up out the water, stunning it with a cloud of DRAGON BREATH so that Fern can catch it. It’s not really his speed, but you never know what might come in handy later.

The commotion of catching the cramorant draws the attention of a hungry growlithe. It lingers on the edge of the water, hoping to sneak in and snag away the water fowl that they're in the process of catching. "Sorry, puppy," Fern trills as their kingdra turns on the canine. "No can do." A pulse of BRINE subdues the fire-type as Fern throws a ball at it as well.

Fern pauses, collecting the pokeballs that now drift on the shore, treasures contained with it. They skirt a pinchurin that watches warily, ready to poke them if they make an attempt to get too close for comfort. But Fern has little interest in doing so. Instead, they continue to walk the shoreline, Lir drifting parallel to them from the water.

Eventually, their interest in this little jaunt begins to wane. They’d much rather be at home, curled up on the sofa with their dragapult and a mystery novel. Fresh tea at the ready. With a sigh, they recall Lir and turn away from the water’s edge. In the mist, they miss the little blue ralts entirely. If they meet anything else on the return to the gate without Lir at the ready, Fern is sure they will handle it just fine.

Once they nearly reach the exit, something in the fog bumps into their heels. Fern startles, twisting around and looking down to spy a lost looking little happiny. “Oh. Are you frightened?” Fern bent, picking up the pink little creature as it burbles warily. Fern smooths over its head and it soon calms in their arms. So figuring they may as well, they continue their departure with the happiny in tow.
