the vital city tournament was a nice event, but every big event like it was bound to get vandalism resulting from crowds of people without a care.

with other volunteers help restore the image of lilycove back, kyle cannot help but get himself involved in the efforts. his job, thanks to his reputation of using smeargle, was to cover up needless graffiti left by kids from the tournament.

using a brush to aid his smeargle from covering the vandalism within the city, he turns his head nad notices a resident of the city.

"oi, melody!" he calls from afar. "are you here to help out too?"

she's used to vandalism, especially after what happened to her gym back at sootopolis. surely, she has some sort of reaction towards the ones left in lilycove.

She stares at the graffiti tags, some of them seemed...not human made if that made sense. Like Kyle surmised, she learned a little bit about it from her time in sootopolis. Now seeing it in lilycove, it did send a small shiver down her spine and so she sent out her Primarina besides her smeargle "But maybe we can do this to piss em off and show themselves." she says as Primarina uses SPARKLING ARIA
and her smeargle who recently forgot every move he knew thanks to that recent swarm sketches the attack and helps out. [break][break]

"we'll be spending time soon enough," he casually informs melody. "i got something cooking on the horizon, and i'll be asking you to star in it."

there were prerequisites to the premise he was trying to built up to, but promises weren't solid when it comes to the timeline.

his mind gets distracted by the smeargle. the same thought comes to mind, following a recent event that most people, who were curious about the happenings within the chasm, were able to experience.

"oh, right, you saw what happened during the smeargle swarm, right?"

he could say that he might be responsible for it, but that conclusion was too self-centered. wild pokemon could have been audience to the happenings throughout the region on their own, bringing the phenomenon to a natural happenstance.

Melody looked at him "Is that so? Me making a guest appearance?" She asks him wodnering if he'd divulge more info, but honestly she liked the idea of it being a surprise. [break][break]

"I did, what did you make of it? My smeargle lost all of it's legendary moves, even more confusing. He couldn't sketch them again afterwards." If anyone knew anything it was probably him, he had seen almost every single event in hoenn occur with his own eyes. [break][break]

She was kind of sad about it, it was one of the things she had picked up from watching kyle how useful smeargles could be and a nice representations of her adventures up until this point. Well maybe now she could use them to convey certain battle strategies onto others? Hmmm "What are you gonna teach your smeargles now?"

he supposed melody's reaction is normal and what he should have felt about the loss of important tools under his repertoire. the fear he felt that day, with his connection with his smeargle from his sygna suit, brought a different reaction out.

"it's kind of exciting that something else from beyond took notice, right?" he continues to cover up the graffiti with a layer of paint. "also relief that if a third party is involved, that means the other side doesn't have access to those as well."

kyle's contribution to future large-scale missions would change alongside his role on the story after the utility that his smeargle brings is diminished. still, he doesn't get bothered by the change.

"i'm undecided yet on how to replace their pallet," he answers her. "i might map out every place of interest on hoenn and decide a moveset that helps with each setting, maybe."

the seas, mountains, the sky, ultra space-- hoenn doesn't have a shortage of settings for the big boss fights, but even the idea fails in his head.

his paintbrush stops for a bit after a single stroke.

"i could gear it with the best moves for battle, but that wouldn't be fun in practice, i think."

"fun in practice huh?" she says as she repeats him and looks towards some of the graffiti. [break][break]

"Hmmm well you could just sketch during your adventures and use that imprison strategy you usually use. It's pretty useful in my opinion. Maybe I'll do some based on my different battle styles.." she says as smeargles are like blank canvases. [break][break]

"Maybe I'll let them decide...this is a little bit exciting to think about actually, discovering what my Smeargle lean towards since before they use to just want to dye my hair different colors..." as she starts to think further about it. "Maybe one that does sound moves? there are a bunch that have different effects we've been learning about"[break][break]

She smiles at the mention of him basing smeargles around different areas in hoenn "I love that idea actually, would be a good reason to go out and explore some new areas that might've popped up with everything that's been happening recently too." primarina continues to spray the art off of the wall. [break][break]

"It would be really cool for you too, hoenn's champion having a sygnasuit that works in all the different ecosystems? Pretty thematic."

"that's an option," sketching as he goes with imprison at the back, "but i'd still rather have other moves for practicality."

especially against big, life-threatening fights they usually partake in. he sees her case though, since the suggestion is indicative to his brand: seemingly pointless gimmicks that are niche enough to be too effective when they do.

"then again, who knows if it'll work," he tells melody concerning his plans on appropriating them by location. "no one can predict we'd fight in the likes of space, ultra deep sea, or even just a plain snow biome."

each stroke of the brush to cover the vandalism doesn't stop as they continue to converse.

"i could just go with your route if i keep getting bothered with the holes of the things i want." his voice teeters on whining, but there's enough self-control to stop it. "like, just give them a choice of their move, and then teach them supplementary ones."

he knows full well if he allows his pokemon to be directly responsible to the moves they wield, they can get unruly in his house.

Melody suddenly realized something in the middle of their covering the graffiti. "Trueeee." she says as she tilts her head to the side before picking up her hair and tying it into it's signature ponytail.[break][break]

"Well at least if there's one thing this whole situation proves." she says as she has her smeargle create a little puddle of paint on the floor as she covers her hands in it. "Smeargles and humans are just chock full of limitless potential." she says as she starts to create designs on the wall. "We grow and change constantly based on our experiences. So maybe you can constantly just have them sketch other people's moves during situations and use it to your advantage? I don't know, I was getting oddly sentimental there." she says as she starts to try and sketch a mural onto the wall. She turns around and looks at him, shaking her head for him to join her. [break][break]

"Let's make it something pretty instead of grafiti!"

"that option's not really practical," he reminds melody before softening his expression to a faint smile, "but i guess practical is nothing compared to personality."

she would get chewed at by the likes of the militaristic personalities of hoenn's top brass for having an ever-so-changing moveset that she has to adapt to every time she needs to use her smeargle, but he supposed idols are built different. they do manage to have entire routines for their shows that they quickly change the moment they're done.

kyle wasn't one, though. he just has to stick with what he's comfortable with as someone with no special training.

it doesn't occur to him that melody was starting to replace the drawings on the walls with her own. kyle had still been busy covering up the mess when she opens up with a proposition.

"are you sure?" he asks, "i'm not really known for my drawing, you know."

ironic, given the pokemon he decided to sync with.

he considers his skills to be above the basic stick men and basic shapes, but doodles and other sketches one fills the back of their notebooks with wouldn't be enough to put him above average.

kyle decides to shrug the issue off. "oh, well. better for my shitty art skills to be in this wall than what's previously here."

She laughs at kyle, she figured he'd make basic stick figures and things like that. maybe a cute dog pokemon here and there, she was by no means an amazing artist. She dabbled here and there with paintings and sketches and art pieces but anyone else with specialized focus in it could beat her. [break][break]

"eh, that doesn't matter. Honestly I just want it to be a memory we could share." s[break][break]

Melody smiled "Don't worry I'll help you out. All for one and one for all right?" she tells him as Melody had wanted to grow closer with him, they were a team in her eyes. Or she wanted to feel more like one.[break][break]

She pats him on the back gently "That's the spirit Kyle, get creative!"

his drawing style is more akin to the kids he hangs out with at verdanturf own local park. they're figures that one can easily draw with chalk, and the different medium translates poorly, evident with his attempt.

much like a kids, his subject on his illustrations are equally as childish.

"i think i did a pretty good job."

it was a drawing of a vaguely canid figure, and the only way one can discern it was a poochyena was with its colors. there's also a tree and a house, alongside a sun hiding behind a cloud.

"but i think we're going to get reprimanded since this isn't the job they asked from me."

he's not sure if melody was a volunteer like him, but they did ask him to cover the walls with paint and not draw over them. not like he had a problem with it.

"oh, uh, looks like one of them is heading over. do you want to finish your work before we move out?"
