She reared back her Dragalge, thin tails snaking about the air like a cracking whip, and moved to dive out of the chasm as the distortion overhead loomed ominously. Hazy as if cast in a pink film, it was still visible in the sparkling sheen of MISTY TERRAIN that parted for her departure.[break][break]

Whatever he said next would be ignored. She had better things to do than argue with nobility over petty skirmishes such as this.[break][break]

Debating philosophies with an eco-terrorist was not something Remiel particularly cared to do either. What was the point? He'd already given up on freeing Elisabeth Fiorelli from the chains that bound her to TEAM ROCKET. She would have been better off locked away in some Kalosian castle still than out here, in HOENN, causing so much pain and disaster.[break][break]

But still, when she looks at him with such a curious gleam in her eyes, he can't help but wonder what else she knows. Was Elisabeth Fiorelli truly a woman who believed in fate? Was that part of the reason she refused to see reason and break free? Perhaps she thought she was always destined to be this miserable, taunting she-devil.[break][break]

The cursed grip on his throat slowly begins to subside the further she goes. The lingering soreness of it is a stark reminder that he shouldn't be searching so desperately for a reason to sympathize or pity her again. He was a fool to try and make reason of her motives to justify who she had willingly allowed herself to become.[break][break]

The EX-ADMIN supposed that side of him had never truly died in the submarine that night they had met in the lounge. It had simply been buried beneath the animosity they now held for each other.[break][break]

She'd known dozens of men like Remiel Calcifet.[break][break]

They spoke pretty lies that masked selfishness as selflessness, swaggered like a pride of self-aggrandizing Quaquavals, and mistook their privilege and power as birthright.[break][break]

Men like him could leave Rocket unscathed, despite the bounty on his head. He could on a whim choose to sell his soul to the devil, and years later, blithely revoke the offer.[break][break]

Worse, he could paint it as a glorious triumph instead of what it was: escaping a ruination of his own design. He played the hero for merely saving himself from his own villainy.[break][break]

She bitterly despised him for that hypocrisy.[break][break]

Would the League welcome her with open arms, were she to weep tears of guilt and shame and throw herself at its mercy? Hah. No. The time for that had long passed, no matter what Isaac Merlo and Michael Navidson thought. She'd seen a future where the League had put her to death for her crimes, and she had no reason to think this timeline would play out any differently.[break][break]

No one, not princes or gods, was likely to change that for her.[break][break]

Behind him, in the depths of the cave he had just sealed, there's a noise. A hollow and bone-quaking groan reverberates throughout the very terrain as Remiel swerves his Aerodactyl around to face the cave-in. Their ruckus, it seemed, had attracted something to their location.[break][break]
