power is taken, never given.

fernando is not one to be denied. he refuses to take no for an answer. today will be the same as every other day.

the safari zone is not suited to his needs. he does not require exotic pokemon. no, he needs strong pokemon, tough pokemon, obedient pokemon. the power of the elusive means nothing to him. what they can do for him, what usage he can unravel, is all that matters. any pokemon can be useful when used in the proper niche. they can also be useless in every other situation. that's why he looks to expand. a well equipped arsenal will prove integral to his endeavors. that much is for certain.

today is no different than any other. they will come. he will conquer. they will submit.

what comes before him is but a baby. something he has no interest in. it's weak, it's dumb, and most importantly it's inexperienced. just because it has potential doesn't mean that it's a worthy pick up. what fernando doesn't have is time, and investing in something without a promise of repayment-- it's bad for business.

so, fernando allows the vermin to escape with its life. in its stead, he expects something more. something capable. a flash of his pokedex is enough to differentiate the weak from the powerful. so the search continues. he'll scour the entire site until he finds something he can wield. go and hide. fernando can wait.

another small pokemon. another undoubtedly weak one. fernando's almost sure to pass it but this time he hesitates. there's providence in becoming aware of the unknown. a pokemon such as this one is far and few between, even he doesn't recognize it. so, he takes out his pokedex to scan it. imagine his surprise when he finds out that stupid looking head is nothing more than a DISGUISE. it had fooled him entirely. it makes him rethinking his ideology. ditto is small and has proven invaluable. maybe it's worth taking a chance.

fernando looks at his set of safari balls. there's three of them, three chances to catch something. what's the harm in sparing one for experimenting?

only time will tell.

another puny pokemon. this time he recognizes it. feebas, the ugliest of pokemon, second only to relicanth. just the very sight of it leaves a taste of disgust in his mouth. how they turned into the sleek and beautiful milotic is a question that fernando still doesn't have an answer for. nor does he care. beauty serves little purpose on his roster. only those preoccupied with the lavish luxury of aesthetics could value such a trivial trait. it makes him scoff at the sight of it.

feebas is spared but only this time. should he come across one that holds a different sheen. well, that might be worth catching.

oh? that's a surprise. fernando didn't expect to run into a dragon here. maybe this would prove more fruitful then spending his days in meteor falls. he almost considers it too if not for the commerce that happens in the safari zone. sure, he can blend in just fine but the crowd leaves him nervous, paranoid. meteor falls has no such draw back. there, he's alone, allowed to embrace the tactics that make him so effective. unfortunately, the safari zone offers him no refuge in that regard. the general public still frowns against overwhelming opponents with superior numbers. they know little of efficiency.

fernando endures the labor of feigning ignorant. it takes him longer than it should to force the bagon into its ball.

fernando has no need for pets. that's the only merit he can surmise for the fur ball that plagues his path. what use can it possibly bring? he has no clue so he scans it with his pokedex, giving it the benefit of the doubt. and, as expected, his results return are the same as his predictions. it's absolutely useless. maybe, just maybe, it might prove useful in some bizarre niche in a standard pokemon battle. but fernando does not partake in such a sport. no, his battles are for victory. wholesome in triumph and always with purpose. there's glory in combat without reason. that's why he lets the pokemon go unharmed, continuing on his way.

tch. this thing again? how bothersome. fernando is at a lost for words. even more so when it starts to follow him. yet, he doesn't shoo it away. he doubles back to leave, unable to talk himself into venturing deeper into the safari zone. surprisingly, it continues to trail him the entire way back. this kind of commitment stirs fernando to react, hoping that it'll manifest into some sort of loyalty. whether it turns out that way doesn't really matter. he only has one ball left. he might as well catch it. what's the worst that can happen?

only time will tell.
