FROSLASS SWARM (HOENNIAN HOLIDAYS)
POSTED ON Dec 12, 2019 20:27:20 GMT
Bo, knowing little of the snow storm that would be passing through, had thought it would be festive to decorate for the holidays. Unfortunately, she didn’t really have much in the way of money or a home with a holiday tree. So, she settled for decorating Burke for the holiday. She had enough from her last job to get some wide, red ribbon, which was now strung around Burke’s head and down around his neck -- tied up like a lead.
They could do better, she thought, so she lead her friend out to the route between Lilycove and Fortree. They searched for hours to find the perfect pair of branches -- which she then tied to his head like a pair of horns. She was proud of herself and Burke strutted around the route to show her just how handsome he was as a reindeer. But the small celebration was cut short as the wind chilled even more -- enough to whisk the softer snow into the air. ”We better get back to town.” She said, sidling up to Burke as they both eyed the trees around them.
The storm picked up quickly and before the two knew it, they were fighting against heavy winds. Now riding atop the mudsdale, she gripped his neck tightly and clutched her body as close to him as she could. ”I’m sorry bud.” Bo whispered into Burke’s ear. The giant mudsdale did not respond -- his hooves pounding into the snow in a steady but labored thud, thud, thud. She wasn’t even sure he could hear her over the wind.
They continued in freezing solidarity until she felt Burke tense and then jerk to the side. She peered around him, squinting against the snowflakes and wind that burned her face. She could barely make out a small, oddly shaped silhouette that glided out from the tree line. Burke jerked again as another silhouette gliding out from the other side of the route. Then another and another, until the tree line was distorted by little silhouettes.
Bo grasped Burke and pulled her face as close to his ear as she could. ”Burke, go,” She couldn’t feel the cold anymore she could only feel her heart pounding. The mudsdale leapt forward and, as yet another silhouette glided out in front of them, Bo yelled over the wind ”Don’t stop! Use heavy slam!” Burke barreled through the silhouette in front of him and it crumpled into itself. The rest of the silhouettes seemed to withdraw back into the tree line so the pair slowed briefly. Bo looked back at silhouette that was now heaped in the snow. Guilt washed over her. She couldn’t just leave it there -- what if they really hurt it? She wasn’t getting down though. So, she tossed out a pokeball instead.
