with a sweeping gesture of her arm, the pair make their way further into the sleek laboratory. no one pays them any mind, and many a-heads are deeper into their work than usual.

she chuckles to herself quietly.

she shows gavin to the room, but breaks off into a different one herself. one that would actually allow her to monitor the feed as it came.

she speaks to him over the microphone placed a few feet above him.

"do try not to move. it will only lengthen the process."

natalie absentmindendly plays with the condensation of her glass, her nail drawing a smile face. the thrumming of her other hand stops.

"don't know."

the corner of her lip screws upwards, giving lulu a skeptical, half-smile. though, her eyes never leave the glass.

"but anything seems better than just going along for the ride. then again, i don't really do the whole 'blind faith' or 'blind loyalty' thing."

she then turns to lulu, leaning heavily on one hand, still playing with the liquid. her lips purse upwards, as if she wasn't really taking anything seriously.

was she?

"that's just me, though."

natalie echoes the statement, focusing her attention. she wasn't an anthropologist herself, nor did she really know any personally, but the subject has already interested her— and her study in finding the origin of life, of course.

"have you found anything interesting? new pokemon, by chance?"

natalies hands fold at her abdomen as she does her best to look polite. she really was interested— honest.

"i've been looking extensively into lugia. itching to get my hands on anything that can provide me answers to their origins."

she thinks back to Cillian Quinn 's tests and nearly chuckles to herself. being on the edge of the truth was truly exciting.

"good. i'd hate to foot that bill."

she smiles as if she hadn't pointed a gun at his moments ago. in her mind, it was long in the past.

"shall we get that MRI, then?"

Killian Decker

natalie shrugs, cracking her neck to the left, then right. it mattered not whether or not killian wanted to sleep with her. the idea was amusing, sure, but nothing about him stood out as overly alluring. her reaction to him was the same as it was to Cillian Quinn, and THEO BECKETT.

"very well. i could spare time for a drink, or two."

where gavin is the dog shivering in fear of a thunderstorm, natalie is its eye. calm. regal. unmoved.

"anything else wouldn't provide me an authentic reaction."

she blinks, looking at the mans ragged state. in an instant he had changed from the calm, collected underboss, to the mess he was now.

"should i be expecting your patron to come crashing through the walls, then?"

natalie's eyes narrow in confusion. surely, a woman as brilliant as lulu, wasn't simply another drone?

"then why do what you do? is it trust? fear? blind loyalty?"

the machinations of man were truly interesting.

her nails once again return to the rhythmic tapping against the bar top.
