natalie approaches the beachhead, polarized shades and a two piece beneath a massive, almost ridiculous hat. open toed sandals make an obnoxious clop sound as she approaches the battlefield.

"hm, are you my opponent? interesting."

emerald hues assess the woman opposite of her.

"this will be good for my research."

an ARBOK takes the field, and she stands ready.

she rubs her lips together, making a little popping sound. with a sigh, she keeps following. so much for her day at the beach.

"very well. i have a date later, so the faster we can accomplish this, the better."

moving up in the ranks? trivial in the grand scheme of things. rocket would likely fall again, like its predecessor, or take momentary control. nothing was ever permanent.

two arboks appear on either side of natalie, their hoods opening to cast a paralyzing GLARE onto the small host of a swarm. what creatures that were not burned alive had their muscles locked, and crashed to the floor.

"mm, go, have your fill. but, leave me at least one for my studies, yeah?"

snakes break off and begin their feeding process, the smell of dissolving carapaces and innards filling the small space. natalie makes no show of it bothering her.

a flavor of disappoint lingers on her tongue, as lex seems unfazed by the coffee. with a shrug, natalie follows, peering down at the desk and into the monitor. a myriad of feeds flicker until they stop, landing squarely on an overhanging view of the vault.

"mm, seems simple enough."

a pointed look behind her at the arbok stops the serpent from widening its jaw further to encompass the terrified man. natalie turns her attention back onto the red-headed hellion.

"are we sticking together, or splitting up?"

with a roaming guard, either option could work — natalie just didn't want to be the one that made the decision. the chemist walks as she talks, lifting the badge off the paralyzed man. the stain on his crotch had her lip curled in disgust, but she said nothing. his shame would follow him well past tonight.

"interesting creature, by the way. i'd love to study it."

an involuntary frown tugs at painted lips. she of course, expected there to be no news; the odds of actually finding a new species of pokemon was astronomically rare these days, after all. but, still, the small thread of excitement at the thought was just thin enough to keep her wanting.

natalie blinks at his question, head tilting as she taps her cheek with a forefinger.

"hm. very little, unfortunately. information about it, and its mysterious avatar elude me. it isn't the only creature i'm studying, so if you have insights into other legendaries, i'd be glad to listen."

a contemplative thumb bounces atop lips.

"mm. either? both?"

she plays the role of a "naïve broad" well, but it flickers away as quick as it appeared. keen interest motivates as she chisels lulu's many expressions into her memory, and when an tiny snarl forces her lips to quiver upwards ever so slightly, natalie's forced to hide a smile.

"of course, of course. just thought it a bit strange that you admitted to not knowing the 'end game', but still work to further the goal."

she shrugs, taking a bite out of the cheese stick.

"but who am i to judge? to each their own."

a not-so delicate hand pushes through the crowd. a medium sized vechile was placed on raised platform in the sand; it was decrepit, and old. luck had been on her side, when they called her number from the dozens, maybe hundreds around her.

natalie smiles, turning to the other woman — her partner.

"hello love. shall we begin?"

the chemist releases her dracozolt, curling her lip in disgust at the creatures appearance. with a gentle, dismissive wave of her hand, he begins. the oddly-shaped electrical dragon charges at the hunk of metal in a DRAGON RUSH.

she remains quiet while the machine operates. soon enough, the images came through. before any she could do any precursory reviews, natalie enters the room where gavin is.

"i do believe that will satisfy everything for today."

in truth there likely could've been more she could, but, she grew weary of the underboss. in truth, she wanted to sit down and further study the results.

"any questions or concerns before i review them and send them to mr. walsh?"

to say the building looked dilapidated would be insulting to the word. it was a arceus-damned mess. the flora at the entrance was overgrown and riddled with invasive weeds. no doubt it would need to be cleaned up after they were done here.

but, that was someone else's problem. at least, sure as hell not hers.
