Hide heard the spattering of pebbles long before he saw it tear out into the dim light of the clearing. The wild Donphan sped around the area in a circle in an alarming speed.

Leaning forward far enough to nearly fall off the boulder, the avid researcher smiled wide. "A Donphan!" he exclaimed, to no one in particular. Standing up, he pet Charlemagne - who let out a metallic cry and grew brighter than before.

Reaching into his bag, he put away his journal and grabbed a pokeball. Scooping a few pebbles off the floor, he lobbed a few at the speedy tire but the dust cloud he had tossed up obscured him and caused his first few tosses to miss.

Finally, one connected and caused the elephant to unfurl himself and look in Moriya's direction with a roar. Aiming between his long horns, Hide used the opportunity to throw the pokeball right at the Donphan.

Hide sniffled, wiping his nose on his wrist. Clean air! he thought exasperatedly. Maybe for others, the trees and grass of Verdanturf Town were a literal breath of relief - but for this frail researcher, it merely set his allergies into overdrive.

Pushing his glasses up with one hand, he laid the other on the cold stones that lay outside the entrance to Rusturf Tunnel. Finally. Stepping into the dark cave, the cold and dusty air wrapped around him. It didn't help his nose, but he instantly felt at home.

After a few minutes of weaving through rocky passages and squeezing past tight spots, often led by the glow of Charlemagne, Hideyoshi came to a small enclosure he'd found last time he had come through.

Sitting on a polished rock, he whipped out his research journal as his gaze settled on a dark, rocky area that lay in front and slightly below him. His pencil (and pokeballs) were at the ready, for whatever wandered in from the deeper parts of the cave system.

Hey, new guy here. I've seen the site around a lot - I've been on a Pokemon kick for a couple weeks now and figured why not join. Haven't written anything in the genre in like forever, so I'm probably pretty rusty. But I've got a character up and ready, so I look forward to writing with you all!

I've been on all kinds of sites since 2011 or before, since I was 13, but I haven't written seriously in years. Hopefully you can help me add a few more wrinkles to my brain that's been smoothed by years of not writing.

Born to a pair of researchers in Ecruteuk City that had made their fame studying the Ruins of Alph, Hideyoshi (or Hide as most know him) was a quiet child who rarely cried or acted out. Before he could make any memories of his birthplace, his parents and he moved to Castelia City in Unova. His mother and father had been asked to come and study the Desert Resort and Relic Castle and had accepted the task with fervor.[break][break]

Growing up in Unova, Hide spent most of his days amidst the sandstorms of the Desert Resort. A love for history, ruins, and desert pokemon brewed within him. As he became a man, he followed in the footsteps of his parents and became a researcher. Hoping to strike out on his own, he departed for Hoenn and its ruins.
