You know, taking another five minutes, Ashley just enjoyed... not doing the Magikarp Splash and face getting slapped by the waves. As he would emerge from the waves, he wondered if it was even worth it, getting back on that Mantine to do the unattainable.

Yes. Yes it was.

And so Ashley flew that day, Magikarp Splash or bust. Probably bust.

"No. Nuh-uh. Not doing it. Not on your life, Bongo. Never. Don't you dare." Ashley shakes his head. The third round incorporates a mega stone, but he doesn't have one of those! So Bongo, his little Grookey, dressed in a sun visor and a tie for comedic effect, he points to the chart. By doing a silly little pose, Ashley can get his lead back! Why wasn't he wanting to win? The Grookey, again, points to the charge. Ashley's face red as a beet, puts his face in his hands.

He returns Bongo.

Now he really hoped he didn't win. Removing his jacket that he had in the first round, Ashley walks up the walkway of the stage. His hands shaking, as he begins to grab the Pokeball that holds Bongo in his hands... it's shaking, but as he activates Gigantamax, he watches the ball expand, and throw it behind him, before spinning in place to begin his ultimate pose. They wanted a show? He'd begrudgingly give them it.

With butt out, knees bent, and arms to each side of him, he makes a pose in order to win back the competition... by embarrassing himself so much that he wants to die.

Surely no one would see this or care.

Giant Bongo merely looks on with the face of a monkey who could easily break the law. That was the Grookey's only desire. Chaos. As the Grookey's face begins to shrivel up in the best way possible, the crowd can see it was truly Bongo's idea, with one singular look down towards Ashley's embarrassing pose.

Was he ever going to see the end of the road? This was just one move, and he saw others do it with relative ease... could he just not pull it off? As he prepares again after taking a second, he begins to fly upwards with the Mantine. He needed another try. Just one Magikarp Splash. Then he was done gambling!

Incense? Frickin' incense? How in the heck was there incense down here? Who does this? As Ashley reaches the top of the dive before taking a five minute break, he stares at the stick of incense, and ponders his life choices. Did people just THROW it in there? What use was it now?

He had to take that time. He was fine now. Diving back in, backflipping in, he dives to the bottom... what now.

And there they are! Team Ashley, riding on the back of their newest member, a big moon meteorite that is merely levitating off the ground. Hanging off it like a tree branch, a Grookey with a belt on, for... some reason. Sleeping on it like a kid from a movie studio with a fishing rod, the ever lovely Slowpoke napping on the Lunatone's bottom half, a Stufful that adorned it like a hat, and a Starly that caws, and flies beside the moon-mon.

All five of them, best of friends. Of course they are, they could never be torn apart. They were roommates in the same apartment. Pluto enjoyed the balcony, despite being a night owl. Sushi loved the bath tub, and slept there, if not Ashley's ceiling fan. Jelly loved Ashley's bed, and slept there daily, with Bullet adorning the fridge as her nest. Bongo was like their landlord, making sure they all didn't get into trouble.

But for now, that was no longer the case! They were free! They saw Isaac's massive team, and realized that they were vastly outnumbered. But it doesn't matter!

Beating his chest with enthusiasm of a Rillaboom, the little chimp howls to his homies. The quintet split off, with Bongo finding his old friend Grimace. He'd grown two inches taller! Soon enough, he'd be taller than Grimace! Meanwhile, the very shy Jelly finds himself underneath a bench, still emotionally stunted and having trouble socializing. Sushi found himself discarded onto the grass, where his snoring filled the park towards Ceres, joining the weird instrmental performance with his own instrument. Bullet and Pluto decided to mingle towards Kiryu, the Starly giving a caw, while Pluto made its noises. What could be so important?

Ashley says it. He doesn't even bother to hide it, rubbing the arm with that wound he got maybe a week ago. He didn't need the cast, as he could move it, but even so, his airy tank-top allowed him to take in a deep breath.

He feels the little Carvanha-tooth necklace he had. He smirks, but looks to Isaac inquisitively. "Lemme guess... you found me out." It wasn't even a question. Ashley could feel it.

The gun comes out.

He hesitates, offered the firearm. The gesture to Jubilee. The Raichu doesn't understand. Ashley feels everything crash around him. His hands shiver, his body shivers, his face pales, his body pales, his life pales. Yet, there was the choice. There it was, he has to do it, he has to kill her.

The pistol hits his hand, and he can feel it. His heart is in his throat. Yet, no matter how much he looks at Theo, no matter how much he wants not to, here it is. The choice. This was always how it was going to go. He feels the barrel, he tells him no, no. No, he has to say yes, if he doesn't, he will be a traitor. It was an order, an order in order to bring some order, to gain some trust back, disorder in order to stay on board. He feels the barrel, he feels how cold it is, how ruthless it is, how much pain it must be to be on the other end of it is. He can't breathe, he won't breathe, he's no longer trying. He's dying, death frees him, living is a crime.

And there she is.

She smiles to him. She is innocent. She is innocent, and he has to take her away. He opens his mouth, and there's nothing to say. Nothing to say. He can fight back, he could aim it at him, he considers it. But then he's dead. Theo is everything he has to be. He accepted this life two years ago, when he cared for nothing.

Then he grew to care, and now he has to remind himself what he is.

He raises the pistol up.

He can't see straight, his eyes are watering. He can't breathe. He can't do it, but he has to, because if he doesn't, it's over. He has to do it. He has to convince himself. YOU HAVE TO. YOU HAVE TO SHOOT. YOU CAN'T BACK DOWN, YOU GOT TOO MUCH TO LOSE. WHAT DO YOU FIGHT FOR? WHAT DO YOU LIVE FOR? IS THIS LITTLE RAICHU ENOUGH TO LET YOUR LIFE HIT THE FLOOR? SHE DIES IF YOU DO, BUT YOU DIE IF YOU DON'T, AND YOU WON'T SEE IF SHE MAKES IT AFTER YOU FALL. PULL THE TRIGGER. PULL THE TRIGGER. PULL THE TRIGGER, ASH. IT'LL ALL BE OVER, ALL IN A- Bang.

Ashley collapses to his knees.

He drops the gun.

His hands will never be clean.

And he screams, blood pooling below him. She's gone now.

This guy gets it. The smile is reflected back to Greyson, as he rubs the back of his head. Two aimless hikers. That was a vibe, and he appreciated it. It was tranquil in here.

The Elgyem makes him wince, as he watches the little guy take a huge whiff of poison gas. "I could see why. Typically I go to the beach for that, but Hoenn has that on surplus. Caves like this are much rarer."

It was a simple life, really. He was here thanks to a certain Grookey attempting to get him off his nicotine addiction.

"You don't mind some company, do you? I seem to be attracting a lot of interesting Pokemon."

Ashley reaches into his pocket, the Pokeball expanding into his hand, as he throws the ball out. He would do anything for his spot here. He just came to terms with anything. Once Jubilee is out, he holds onto her, and feels himself sweetly smile. He still had that innocence.

She nuzzles into him, and he could feel that static of her cheek, he looks to Theo confidently. He was ready to do whatever was necessary to prove himself.

"Who, sir? We're ready."

He asks this, feeling the answer slowly creep upon his mind. Ashley is too dumb to see it coming though. Even if that bad feeling begins to weigh down on him.

The good news is that Ashley was going to be fine. He would have a nasty scar on his left arm, and probably painkillers for weeks on end. Bandages with petroleum jelly, to be replaced... honestly, it was lucky it wasn't fatal. Even luckier that they had the proper blood needed for transfusion. If Ashley lost anymore, he might have gone into shock.

Awful as it is, as Isaac is finally allowed to see Ashley, the guy sleeps, with Sushi laying in the bed. The Slowpoke perks up, stretching and smiles towards Isaac, but his trainer remains unconscious. Resting.

Despite this, the question sits as to what the hell to do about this turn of events?

Ashley, unknowingly, outed himself as an Ex-Rocket. They got the teeth for the mission, sure, and he even gets to keep the one that was in his arm for his own personal use. But that didn't change the fact that the nature of their friendship shifted.

Where do things go from here?

More stuff. When is there gonna be something down here Ashley can't forgive? He isn't sure. Honestly, he isn't even sure why he's diving again. He's getting cramps in his feet, but he wants to find anything to help clean the ocean.

When life throws you constantly into the water coming face to face with the unforgiving sea of disdain and pain, you get back on that Mantine despite the fact that you've fallen seven times without being even remotely close. You start off well, but you feel the pressing need to try again. Ashley feels this tenacity, and he will do it. He's doing it. He's got this. Or so help him, he's gonna fail.

And he'll probably fail. As he, shocking no one, attempts the Magikarp Splash. He'd get somewhere.

They say insanity is gaining the same brain damage over and over again, and Ashley is pretty stubborn. In fact, as he fails again, he just feels like he needs to try something else. But people don't do it on their first day. No, he gets back on that little flappy water bird, and FLIES.
