that's something they both agree with. [break][break]

oddly enough, cain was a nice person to talk to. brash nature and judgement aside, she doesn't have to worry about him hiding or holding reservations. maybe that's why she found it pleasant? maybe that's why the children found it easier to speak. frankly, he reminds her of someone who feels the same, though he's much more.. agreeable. like a dog (she loves you Hitoshi Inoue ).[break][break]

but the thought it held when amber eyes catch the sight of a pipe in his hand. [break][break]

and her response is to raise her hand to his cheek, brows furrowed as her gaze shifted into slight judgement. it was tobacco (unrefined for the times, but she's too familiar with the scent and has to scrunch her nose slightly) of all things. her lips curl into a frown as her fingers lightly slap at his cheek. [break][break]

"i feel the same" she starts, though still lightly pats his cheek before pushing his head and gaze towards the door "but you aren't going to smoke in here, are you?"[break][break]

two specific fields she's too familiar with, but also two fields she couldn't bother to deal with on her own. with a company with its own niche, outsourcing was needed, and so the company of luke hyacinth's was a wonderful candidate to be her business partner. they've seen varying levels of success - all of which ended with her and his satisfaction. the results are why she bothers to work further, and why she will entertain even more extravagant plans. [break][break]

sheba enters the building expecting a business proposal; she doesn't expect to become a mannequin to model. if he wanted someone to model a new product, she'd think that he'd get someone who explicitly did this. not her, who once did it, and was now retired. but, here we are, and here she is blankly staring at the clothing he's put out for her. [break][break]

that isn't to say that she doesn't... like them, but if he's asking her opinion, she's sorely lost. [break][break]

"i.. suppose the gold?" she says, with little confidence - something that she's not often found without. [break][break]

ah, yes, she's a deerling in headlights. [break][break]

when she can finally gather her thoughts, she can part her lips in the midst of his apparent excitement. "erm.. hyacinth?" she tilts her head, quirking a lip. "is this what you called me for?"

his cluelessness is a little amusing. [break][break]

it's not everyday where she meets someone clueless, or detached from her work. she's always assumed that someone would know, and that their casual demeanors towards her point to not caring - that was usually the case. [break][break]

she hums, trying to formulate a response. in the end, she'll opt to tell the truth - or the partial truth. he never did ask what the name of the company was, nor her business. "i've had it for a few years, now." a chuckle escapes her lips, all while her legs cross beneath the table and she adjusts to make herself more comfortable. [break][break]

"a paralegal?" the brunette wears a more genuine smile, her upper body leaning slightly against the surface of the table when she responds. "it's good to hear that you enjoy it~" she chuckles, head tilted slightly[break][break]

it's rare that she has to look down at someone. [break][break]

an adult, that is. maybe it's because she's felt like she's been looking up for too long - maybe it's because of the feeling of unfamiliar familiarity that she can't shake off (she's always had to look up, at the same amber eyes. only the difference is that his aren't dull, and there's a shine and glow that burns in them). [break][break]

the burning rubs her the wrong way. [break][break]

it's the only time sheba will avert her eyes, unable to face them, even when she knows it's shameful of her to run away. [break][break]

yes, it's those god damn eyes. [break][break]

instead, she ends up looking to the ultra beast that nonchalantly salutes, and her immediately reaction is to jerk back, slightly. "i--" she starts, brows furrowing and knitting. her breath hitches, but it's quickly brought back down into.. faux composure. [break][break]

"... please put them back into their pokeball before dinner." she sighs, finally turning to lead the man towards a larger, spacious dining room. [break][break]

"we're having steak, fried rice, and some vegetable sides tonight."

she's only in a light daze when she recalls. [break][break]

but gunner's words bring her back to reality with a snap. instead, she wears a smile (it's forced, slight, but it's her best attempt) when her fingers lightly tilt the spine of the book towards her person. "perhaps it is the late nights." she plays it off with him, with the same, faux smile to her lips. [break][break]

surprise washes over her expression, briefly, when he asks her what she did for work. did he.. really not know? or perhaps he wasn't involved in that group? he certainly didn't look the type to be interested in cosmetics, but the context doesn't jar her any less.[break][break]

amber eyes dart to the side and glance at the table, her gaze softening when she tilts the bundle of pages back onto the shelf. "yes, coffee sounds pleasant~." [break][break]

she walks ahead, pulling out the nearest table seat just at the divider between cafe and bookstore. she adjusts herself properly in her seat. "to answer your earlier question, i own a business." she hums, shifting her weight to the chair's backrest. "a cosmetic brand, specifically. what do you do?"

What made you come back to music?

I wouldn't call it "coming back to music". I've had a few.. rough weeks lately, and music has always been an outlet for me. I sat myself down for a couple of days to cool myself off. Sitting turned into writing, then writing turned into composing, and composing turned into singing, I suppose?
"Wouldn't call it coming back"? Will you not be making another album?

No, likely not. Music is a passion of mine, but I would prefer to keep it that way.
Why did you stop making music?

Aha.. I stopped because my contract ended. After that, being signed with a modelling agency kept me too busy, on top of my interest in the beauty industry. Like I said before, music is a passion of mine. I won't ever stop making music, but the world will never hear it.
Why did you release MEMORY?

... Honestly, I'm not sure.

I intended to keep it to myself, like the rest of the music I've written, composed and sang. It felt like something I needed to do, because it felt like I'd lose something in myself if I didn't. I felt like I'd be.. losing something very, very important.
You'd lose something important? Do you mind getting into more detail?

If I gave you a ring, it would only be a ring. If your partner proposed to you with a ring, it would become a wedding ring. The value of something depends on the sentimental value of it and... I was afraid that if I didn't release MEMORY somewhere, the feelings I had while composing and singing it will disappear.

I couldn't tell you why I feel the way that I do, but it.. feels like I've woken up from a dream. I feel like I've woken up from a long, deep slumber.

But it's funny. I don't feel rested.
Your music always had a weight to them. Is it related to that?

Maybe~. I always poured my heart into the music I made. It hasn't changed. Maybe it makes it more impactful because it's always sang in my mother tongue?
How would you describe this recent album?

A collection of memories, and a... likely futile attempt to preserve them. I suppose you can say they're a message in a bottle to myself, and they're my message sent out to sea in hopes that others remember it, too.

... Longing? Grief, longing, and gratitude. Ah, yes. I quite like that description.

that sounds about right, and it's about typical. she chuckles softly at the knowing smirk, something she feels like she hasn't done in ages. it's amusing to hear that gunner wasn't being taken seriously, either - considering how accurate his hunches were; or how off they were. either way, it was always a good laugh. "everything is doing alright." she hums, turning to the books just a few ways down the shelf. her fingers idly tap along the spines, and the spark of amusement dims when she continues "though.. i suppose i've been feeling quite tired, recently." sheba hums and her eyes narrow. [break][break]

always the contrarian. [break][break]

this bastard, she thinks. but she can't say, because she knows that what he says it's true (she's tested it; she's lived through it, but the price to pay for survival wasn't worth it). then again, she didn't know exactly what she was looking for when she finally loosened the padlock from the shackles. [break][break]

instead she idly watches as his figure moves about in the dim darkness, ears perking at the click of the key against its lock in one of the cabinets. he describes a wonderful idea - something that she's already too familiar with doing. he's describing exactly what she's done, when she stares herself in the mirror of twenty years back. the glass has been so stained with blood that she can't tell her eyes apart from the crimson anymore. [break][break]

"well, it's why i hired you once upon a time, right?" it's so funny how things come around, and how they end up here, and how their pursuits for power start from horrible cards and end with a target on their backs and red on their hands. [break][break]

but even when she sits on a throne of bones and blood and life, she'll narrow her eyes and sigh. "still, it's no different than surviving." no different than giving up such an important piece of yourself to fit the case of a puppet. "and like i said earlier, a kid shouldn't have to worry about that." [break][break]

now she curiously shifts, moving to be closer to the man when he pulls out a box. she doesn't recall that key being there, nor does she.. recall that case being behind the locked door. [break][break]
