Emma allows a huff of laughter and a slight shake of her head. But there is something undeniably tense that exists between the two women, something unspoken and unreadable. If Emma had her sight, perhaps she might have seen it.[break][break]

But she doesn't, and so she appears unassuming. Maybe that helps take the edge off.[break][break]

"For you? I don't know."[break][break]

Her lip twitches in a note of amusement and she steps forward in pursuit of the young woman. Slowly, her hand presses to the warm rocky cliffside, and she glances up. Her Galvantula falls into step nearby, fully prepared to catch her if she falls.[break][break]

But she wouldn't.[break][break]

Her fingers fit into the footholds with ease, with confidence. Slowly, she begins to pull herself up.

Emma blinks, pulling her attention away from the battle to glance at the kid. She's hardly looked at him the entire time - and frankly that is mostly because her eyesight is still incredibly poor and mending. Trying to focus was pointless, and peering across the highly-reflective pool was pretty close to agonizing.[break][break]

But he's said something that catches her off-guard, and even though her expression is unreadable and her eyes are hidden behind sunglasses, she's moved to some degree. He didn't even know her, and yet he'd unabashedly claimed something so.. simple.[break][break]

People were so strange.[break][break]

Surskit, desperate to protect the Araquanid still clinging to the back of the Kabutops, launches forward on quick spurts of water. Even with the RAPID SPIN hard on her tail, she springs a hasty STICKY WEB to slow down the Golisopod she's spied sneaking up on her partner. The gigantic spider turns in time to see it, praying on the STICKY WEB holding.[break][break]

Regardless, the water spider LUNGES out of the way as best she can, pulling Surskit into her bubble head to protect her from the RAPID SPIN. [break][break]
They sit at a standstill, waiting.

Emma glances between her phone and the house in front of her. There is a 'for sale' sign out front, and the exterior matches the picture displayed on her phone screen.

"This is it."

The woman doesn't glance at Theo, too busy deep-diving into a slew of emotions. She clicks the screen dark and sees movement behind the door. It was an open house tour, and they were apparently the only people here to see the property.

Emma stiffens at his advance, but does not move. His lips press briefly to her cheek and she hesitates. The motion is so quick that she hardly realizes it's happened.

But he lingers just long enough that she tilts her cheek closer, catching his farewell's breath.

"Goodnight."

She turns to leave, heel clicking against the stone step.

Sobble is the weakest link. It is shy, and weak, and too unwilling to defend itself. She has to wonder why in Arceus' name Bill Anderson gave it to her. It had, even now, been nothing but a disappointment.[break][break]

The moment Araquanid lunges forward to leave Sobble open, the Golisopod appears. Sobble can almost see the Pokemon's red eyes. She seizes, unable to react, and succumbs to her fate.[break][break]

Araquanid has replenished her energy, however, and the continued RAIN DISH effects continue to benefit the Surskit. Yes, she really did prefer spiders.[break][break]

"They're resilient."[break][break]

The NIGHT SLASH is premature and predicatable, and effectively out-manuevered in the process of the LEECH LIFE. Araquanid follows up with SCALD, firing boiling hot water at point blank.[break][break]

Surskit squeals, a high-pitched noise, as the ROCK BLAST threatens to crush her. She bolts with a burst of AGILITY, narrowly avoiding and clipping herself off of the rock particles. She spins out of control, dizzy. BUBBLES form around her mouth and envelop her. If the Armaldo were to approach, it would be damaged!

And so she waits, unwilling to answer the question. She asked him first, and this wasn't a game she was willing to lose.

She tilts her head, watching him and watching the embers devour his cigarette.

Emma's attention returns to him, though her expression is tired. There is no need to fight, even though he's prying. Maybe he isn't.

She lifts her attention to the window above. The lights are off, suggesting that Flynn hasn't come home yet. Briefly, the woman glances down the street, as if expecting him to walk up.

He does not immediately follow and she almost looks back- but she doesn't.

And then he falls into step next to her, closer than she felt was.. usual. She doesn't comment, nor does she draw away to put space between them. Rather, she lets her attention wander, idly enjoying the cigarette between her lips. The stars are beautiful, surprisingly easily to see. Perhaps the war hadn't been the worst thing to happen- just kidding.

They come up to kris flynn-edwards's house rather quickly. Even now it seems unfamiliar and.. cold. Flynn was a kind man, but it wasn't home.
