“Well, it’s easy to see which has nuts and which doesn’t,” he agreed as he looked over the piles of candy.

“Kinda sucks that there are people who’re allergic to like, eggs. Or chocolate. Imagine being allergic to fucking chocolate, how do you even live if you have that kind of an allergy?!”

He then hummed as he picked through some of the candies and began sorting it too—unknowingly sorting it between two piles as well; piles of the ones he’d eat, and piles of his partner’s favorites.

“Isn’t it time we caught up to all of that, then?” he mused quietly with this smile on his face.

Maybe it was providence he’d missed what his friend was describing in detail, however fact of the matter remained…

And then it begged the next question—

For something to happen right on the heels of the Three-Day War… maybe… just maybe, whatever, or whoever the fuck was in charge of the cyberspace mindfuckery had a point, somehow?

About how this Hoenn was heading toward ruin due to all the crazy shit happening within its embrace?

The moment the other brought up the space-time ‘distortions’, his train of thought came to a dead stop.

“Wait. Are you telling me, those weird distortions may be connected to the space cannibals?!” he exclaimed quietly; making sure not to startle whatever Pokémon were lurking around the outside of the open-air arena.

He had to take a deep breath to try and calm himself down…

“Geez. What a fucking mess.”

Unless the newest batch of ‘cannibals’ had some time-space bending technology with them that the people of this world were not aware of, well…

In no time flat, the two were heading out west from the city proper—to Route 119, a familiar stomping grounds for him…

“Are you kidding me,” he breathed out as they flew over the site where it had all happened, before coming in for a landing—

“Wait. Wait, hold up. Back the fuck up. Are you telling me… those same blue-skinned… those blue-skinned cannibals are back?!” he exclaimed.

It was like having a series of war flashbacks to the Three-Day War from a few years ago.

“I thought they were all in custody or something,” he continued with a frown on his face. If what the other had said was true, then they would be in for it.

“…don’t tell me, they’re going to try and access the rifts that lead to Ultra Space?”

For it was then he felt a chill run down his back, if that was the case.

For once, for bloody fucking once, he wasn’t in any kind of trouble. Far from it.

In fact he was actually poring over a piece of paper that had scribbles on it—for the first time in a very long time, there was going to be a new addition placed around the Sanctuary area…

Specifically, it involved digging out a little enclosed ‘hot spring’ area because…

Holy shit where was he going to put that flaming spider to good use?!

(For starters, the Heatran was way too hot to leave running around the Sanctuary grounds, so where was he going to hide it… until his partner Guillermo Marceliño had come up with the brilliant suggestion of putting said ‘hot spring’ somewhere on the grounds.)

“Were you able to find the missing people?” he followed up afterward.

He blinked after that pronouncement.

“Alright, alright, back up a little bit, through here,” he continued as he brought the other to the right-hand door and held it open for the other to go through first, before he followed and locked the door behind him,

Was it divine luck and providence that Tom had come across the receptionist for the day being Ethan and not Claire because the way the mousy brown-haired man was startled the moment he heard the other man’s voice—

“Wha—Alex? Right now?” he blinked, before looking up and realizing that he was looking at a familiar face.

“Whoa. You haven’t been here in a long time,” he mused quietly. “Last time you came by here was way back then after Zelle hatched…”

He blinked.

“Give me like, five minutes. Can you wait for me to get back here?”

With that, the other man stood up and made for the left-side door behind the reception desk—normally anyone who was up front for the day would go through the right to find him, but the man himself was at another part of the Sanctuary…

It took less than five minutes for the two to return, before the blonde noticed that—

“Tom? What… what brings you all the way out here?” he blinked once Ethan had resumed his seat and returned to the pile of paperwork he was handling.

The moment he saw his friend throw something that looked straight out of one of those movies he had to do a double-take.

Okay, hold up, what the fuck? he blinked, before his Lucario had to do the same double-take as well…

“Vincent, stay with him, I’ll go up ahead!” he yelled as he summoned his Braviary and took a running start before boarding the blue-plumed avian to fly off in the direction that his friend had pointed him at.

The jackal Pokémon grumbled, before joining the other human’s fight with an Aura Sphere aimed toward the Dugtrio.

Hopefully his crazy human would be able to find where the other Rocket member was holed up…

Aww, that snot bubble looked absolutely adorable! If he wasn’t stuck in the middle of who-knew-where he would definitely be fussing over the poor little Joltik right now, that was a guarantee.

Just as the Ribombee was about to answer, he held up his hand.

“Let me take it from here,” he began quietly as he crouched down to be as close to the Joltik’s eye level as possible.

“Sorry if they’re so snappy,” he apologized, to which the Ribombee growled—but held their tongue.

How was he going to put this? Going into a matter of perspective shouldn’t hopefully stress the Joltik out, but then again…

“When I’m faced with problems that are bigger than what I can handle, I take a step forward. Normally, anyone would expect the reaction is to ‘run away and never look back’, however if you face your fear head-on and take that step forward, you’re already about halfway to solving the problem.”

Why did this sound like the words of another witch from another universe…

“Don’t let your fear get to you, if I can add,” he hummed. “Once you take that first step forward and charge at whatever is bearing down on you head-on, then you shouldn’t have anything to fear.”

Was that advice sound enough…?
