“You sure you can take it?” he blinked, watching as the three Pokémon he’d summoned got to work. There was a sort of system between the three—the Kleavor would hack away at the rock, the Lycanroc would try to dislodge it from its position, and the Garchomp would smack it with their claws.

(Because he totally looked like he was having one hell of a time, though. At least he didn’t need to summon the… the ‘panik button’ for now. Which was good, all things considered.)

“Keep digging,” he hummed to the three as he turned to face the other way—keeping an eye out in case they were fucking jumped on.

The Lucario could only roll his eyes at the… at the insanity that was going on all around them. Honestly, how did he handle being a Riolu back then? He knew he was extra trippy when he was much younger, but now that he was older and wiser, well… he knew better.

He could hear the loud screams of delight coming from the spinning ride, his human companion’s being one of them. Oy. Looking down at the Riolu, he could only crinkle his eyebrows together and shake his head at their human companions’ antics.

In no time at all, the riders were disembarking from the spinning ride; surely there were a few that made an immediate run for the exits to throw up.

However, he was heading back towards the Lucario looking fresh as a daisy!

“Well, how’d things go? No trouble?” he asked Vincent, who shook his head. That was good.

“How about you?” he turned to ask Miss Elise.

“You feelin’ alright?”

It didn’t take too long for the shouts of “Sarah! Where have you been?!” and “This nice man got me this Skitty plushie!” before their little ‘reunion’ was deemed complete; mission done, success story for the books, yet another day at the carnival gone without incident.

“Did she cause you any trouble?” the female figure, who now held the aforementioned Skitty balloon, asked him.

“Not that much, although she was a bit sniffly.”

“Hey!”

“Is the truth!” he continued with his hands held up in the ‘don’t hit me’ pose. “She wasn’t too much of a problem, though, she has good manners.”

With a wink, that was now settled…

And then he turned to his companion once the family had walked away.

“You want to hit up the bumper car ride?” he began with this cheeky grin. “See who’s the better driver?”

“It… it would be the tentacle things.”

He didn’t need to elaborate further; although this time he was ready—with a Kleavor, a Garchomp, and a Midday Lycanroc all making their appearance.

“I brought more diggers along this time, considering that we have to dig pretty deep to find the actual things we’re looking for.”

With that, the three Pokémon accompanying him began to dig, dig, dig.

In the meantime while the Chatot was off searching for their companion’s parents (how handy it was for Chatot to mimic human voices, right?) they happened to pass by a row of booths that had simple games…

“Why don’t I get you one of those prizes?” he said, tilting his head at the… hilariously, big Skitty plushies.

Never had he gotten an affirmation so fast, he had to crouch down and let her get off his shoulders so he could try his luck at knocking down a tower of ‘milk’ bottles with the least number of balls thrown.

With little fanfare, he wound up, and took aim—sending the first bottle off the top. Alright, easy.

“Give me… one more shot.”

He had two balls remaining…

And with the second ball thrown, the entire bottle tower came crashing down—and cheering erupted from their small companion.

“There, that one!” she enthused, pointing at the shiny Skitty plushie.

“Not the normal pink one?” he confirmed with her.

“Hmm… alright, I’ll take the pink Skitty! I’m getting the shiny balloon anyway,” she replied with a smug grin on her face.

“Yeah, what she said, I’ll take the pink Skitty,” and he pointed at said Skitty plushie prize.

He’d managed to get one more purple balloon with his last dart, and was offered the choice to pick two prizes. Now this he wasn’t going to scrimp out on, so he’d picked a Beedrill, and a Flygon plushie.

However instead of keeping them for himself, he handed both of them to her.

“Here, I know what you’re thinking. Take it. I… don’t worry about me, okay?” he said as he handed her both the small plushies. “I… I know someone who can win me the biggest ones without even blinking.”

(He was referring to Guillermo Marceliño, of course. Extremely sneaky!)

“I screw up too, you know. I have noodle arms!” he exclaimed as he wiggled his arms akimbo. He then wondered…

“…are you down to getting wet? We can take the water ride if you want to?” he suggested. Truly, there were just so. many. rides. even it was starting to make him dizzy!

“I can’t even give Tornadus a name! It’s more… out of respect, more than anything,” he hummed quietly as they made their way over to the line for the drop tower ride—which was surprisingly short, considering that it was one of the bigger rides available.

“Wait, what? She does?” he blinked. He knew that some Pokémon could grow to bigger sizes than normal, but… unless that Venusaur could grow to the size of a building, then…

He pursed his lips for a few moments.

“Now that I have to see for myself,” he went on as he was led to one of the open seats on the drop tower ride, and strapped himself in.

“Hope you don’t lose your lunch!” he cackled afterward.

“Luckily, I have a map of the place… and in case you need help I have this,” and with a flick of his wrist he popped a Moon Ball to full size and revealed a Lucario—looking extremely exasperated upon the sight of so many people!

However, Vincent the Lucario mellowed down at the sight of the Riolu in the baby holder! Aww, cute!

“Well, you can leave them with him while we go on the ride,” he offered. Surely they weren’t going to take too long now, right?

Right?

Either way, the Lucario would hold his paws out for the Hoothoot (and the Riolu as well, but shh) to take while he led the way towards the spinning rides that they were about to embark on.

“Hope you don’t get airsick!” he exclaimed once they were in position; his Lucario naught but a speck on the ground waiting for them to get back once they were done.

Despite being slower than a Scyther, said Kleavor flung himself as close to the burst of electricity as possible, using his ‘arm blades’ to deflect most of the damage while he himself raced over to little Josh and helped him up.

“A-are you okay?! L-let’s get the hell out of here!” he continued, while the Tornadus used Dragon Hammer to slam himself into the seemingly normal-looking… ‘Arcanine’ while they made their getaway.

It sucked having to leave behind some of what they’d mined, though…
