The mindless shuffling and the groans from below waned as they gained altitude from the darkened city streets, and Yuina drew in a breath to release the tension as she sat astride Ocian's shoulders. She was able to relax that much more with Doug settled behind her, arms around her waist as they moved through the air.[break][break]
She couldn't see his smile behind her, but she could hear it in his voice as he regarded Ocian, where somehow that made her a 'full blown pro ranger'. If it weren't for knowing that they had to be careful with light sources in this place, Rasza and Harrow were her typical mounts. But between Rasza's tail and Harrow's crest, they were both too risky to have here.[break][break]
"I guess? I'm not sure what Ocian has to do with that in particular... Working with him hasn't been that different... I don't think," she returned with a laugh. It wasn't as if her experience with feral and otherwise primal alpha centric Pokemon had anything to do with being able to work with a dragon said to be highly aggressive that should be approached with caution.[break][break]
Lofting on open wings, Yuina motioned for the Salamence to come closer to a rooftop they neared, and before she could set the dragon to land, Doug dismounted first. She couldn't quite see what had happened, but she heard a curse, and the disturbing and unsettling sound of the cracking of bone...[break]
Asking if he was okay was fruitless, she knew he would be... but as she got Ocian onto the rooftop to dismount for herself and returned the dragon to his ball, she looked at Doug as he held a soft magenta glow in his hand.[break][break]
"Were you accident prone before or after you could patch yourself up," she snickered, only making light of it because he was already standing upright. If he wasn't alright, there would be no jokes to be made.[break]
A stiff wind blew over the rooftop, and where Yuina wasn't keen on spending any time inside one of the buildings, if they could secure a small space, so that they could go back and forth to the tower that they were only a couple of roof tops away from...[break][break]
"We can try, maybe they don't wander too far into the upper floors of these buildings...," she returned, hopeful... There really wasn't anywhere truly safe in this place when the ravaged megalopolans could be lurking in every dark corner.

Perhaps she had been a little over zealous in telling Eddie so much about her mission and what it was she was trying to do in regards to the Hisuian Pokemon of the region, and in kind the Paradoxes that could now be found within the chasm's depths too. Where she was looking to study and learn more about them, and was working with some of her own... She by no means was an expert? And certainly hadn't yet tried to 'train' anyone else in the ways that she interacted with her Pokemon...[break]
It wasn't as if she had a way to bring someone to the wilds of Hisui where Pokemon didn't care for the difference between a human or Pokemon opponent...[break][break]
In any case though, Yuina did agree to meet with Eddie, she couldn't very well turn him away. She considered him a great friend already, and if he was asking for her help... well... she would try her best...[break]
He chose well, somewhere isolated, off the beaten path, not too many people had a reason to travel north from Rustboro on the regular, not unless they were sight seeing or trying to get up north to Fallarbor town... That was good, the less opportunity for interference the better. She wasn't sure exactly what the temperament of his paradox in question was, but to minimize over stimulation was a good start.[break][break]
There in the distance, she could see Eddie, and one of the ceratops that roamed in the depths beneath the icelands... And even as he called out to her, raising his voice, making himself known, she was relieved to see at least that the ceratops didn't seem to pay him any mind. It was perhaps not inherently aggressive... For now.[break]
She didn't change her demeanor, in fact she made sure to stand up that much straighter, keeping her shoulders square, eyes steady and focused. Thus far to Omura, her own ceratops, to show weakness was to show disrespect, and in an animalistic body language, showing disrespect was a one way ticket to sowing aggression.[break][break]
"Eddie, it's good to see you too," she greeted, but not until she got a bit closer to where she wouldn't have to raise her voice. She wasn't about to try and make a display of authority in front of the paradox.

Remiel Calcifet

Yuina listened carefully at Remiel's recommendations, what he took up in his spare time, if he did in fact have any to spare. She could relate, maybe 'workaholic' might be a strong term, but she always found herself to be busy in one facet or another. And for now at least, she preferred it that way...[break][break]
"Oh, swordplay? Hmm, maybe Daikenki and I can spar you sometime, we train together with his Seamitars," Yuina mused, half joking, but half wondering if she should try to take up training against other humans as opposed to just sparing between herself and Daikenki. He was a great opponent, but not necessarily the best human analog for mock combat.[break][break]
Before much else could be said though, Daikenki's barking caught Yuina's attention, then a flurry of squawking from above. Both she and Remiel turned to behold a sight of his Golet hanging precariously from a large fruit in the branches of the tree, while both he and Daikenki were being swarmed by a colorful flurry of feathers.[break][break]
"Oh no, there's so many of them, what are they," Yuina questioned, starting to move closer to where she and Remiel had started off from their walk, watching as Delton moved to take to the air to meet the other two Pokemon in their squabble.[break]
Daikenki barked amidst all of the squawking, drawing out one Seamitar and slashing it around, trying to break through the fray. But through it all, it didn't look like he had an opportunity to get to Atlas, not without threatening his already questionable balance on the outstretched tree branch.

Josh Devlin

Fighting the depths as Yuina clung to Daikenki, the two followed Josh through the currents as they descended beneath Pacifidlog. Seaweed swayed almost violently with each push of the water, sand drifts were ever shifting, and rocks rolled along the sea floor below. It wasn't unlike an incredibly windy day on the surface, but it just felt heavier from the density of the sea water.[break][break]
Josh and his Pokemon clung to one of the supports, when he pointed to another just in the near distance, the beginning of their work. She had her tools in hand as she drew out another Pokeball, knowing that Crowley would have the muscle necessary to make sure things stayed in place while she worked. The Feraligatr harrumphed in the water, bubbles emerging from his maw, and Yuina directed him towards the pillar in question as he brought his arms up to steady it. With Crowley keeping it still, to the best of their ability, Yuina got to work as she clung with her legs to Daikenki.

The pain was nearly dizzying, the feeling of her skin being slowly eaten away by the poisonous threads that were wrapped so tightly around her was stifling. And what was worse was there was nothing that she could do to get away from it, she was trapped, and the toxins bled more and more into the webbing, it was starting to move up from her ankles to her calves and onward... She wasn't sure how much more of it she could take before it became too much.[break][break]
The entire canopy was enveloped in chaos, one giant tree had been ripped from its roots in the ground, and the webbed nest was ursurped in one swift motion as the tree fell. The lead Spidops was far from through with the intruders however, for now it wasn't just its next meal that was threatened, it's entire kingdom was set to fall. It lunged with a myriad of webs for the Flygon that rushed through the trees, trying to ensnare the dragon's wings and its tail, to bind it and regain its hive.[break][break]
Below, as the tree fell from its roots, Basara glowered as the Kleavor lunged from one tree to the next, looking to avoid the calamity of branches and leaves that were coming down with it. He watched as dozens and dozens of spidops were thrown from their hiding places, their webs doing little to keep their stronghold together, but he searched the canopy for any sign of Doug or Yuina, and found none. If they needed help still, the Kleavor hoisted himself higher into the tree tops.[break][break]
There was hardly anything that Yuina could truly keep track of as everything shook and trembled around her. The only constant was the burning, searing pain of her ankles and the bleary tears that marred her vision. She shrieked at the feeling of falling, her stomach dropping, but it was quick to pass as she blinked furiously, finding Doug above her. She coughed a bit as the webbing was ripped from around her arms and her torso, indentations of the thread clear all along her skin from how tightly she'd been bound, how much she was struggling. In that brief moment of knowing what was coming next, lunging to wrap her arms around him, she bit her lips together and clung to him like a vice as the threads that were burning into her skin were ripped from her legs.[break][break]
There was a white hot flash of pain, she couldn't even scream, but she shook against him, unable to let go as her muscles were frozen in the midst of the pain.

It seemed her wants to still be a part of the hands on work of it all were in line with what she would truly be able to do in making the move, and Yuina was thrilled. She wouldn't want to give up maintaining her pieces or doing the 'grunt work' of getting a display set up. It would just be nice to have the help...[break]
And her Pokemon too, being able to have them continue to be a part of her work and the engagement of the study... Was this all really going to come to fruition?[break][break]
"Of course, I'd like to welcome anyone to be a part of the study," Yuina nodded, established researcher or not, she looked forward to the opportunity of working with anyone who might have the same interests.[break][break]
"How much expansion space will be alotted in your facility? I would like to see what kind of room I'll be able to work in. And is there the potential for a fair sized aquarium, to work with a Basculegion or an Overqwil," Yuina began, she would like to be able to include the two in her engagement reach, but there wasn't presently anywhere that they could be out from their Pokeballs in petalburg.[break]
"And are there any pieces or resources that are already here, maybe in archives, regarding ancient sinnoh or hisui that I could start to work on?"

With little choice but to settle back in the bed she was laid out on, Yuina tried to steady her breathing again against the throbbing of her torso, the coughs that threatened to shake her. She stared up at the ceiling, both relieved that Doug was here and furious that yet again she had unwittingly gotten into a situation that she couldn't help herself out of. She had promised that she was going to try to not be a part of the problem, that was the whole point of their boot camp sessions and yet....[break]
Here she was, in need of saving again...[break][break]
Yuina was torn from her own thoughts though as Desiree was made accutely aware of just how many of them had been caught in the wake of the monster that ravaged the icelands. Seeing Thomas come through into their room in the wheelchair he sat in was her undoing... But Yuina wasn't going to stop her, not unless she would truly hurt herself.[break]
Desiree felt her emotions so strongly, they were so unbridled, raw, and powerful that if she had to keep them to herself, she was sure that Desiree would implode.[break][break]
Doug came back into the room, and now knowing what it was he was truly capable of, Yuina knew implicitly that his promise would be upheld. They were going to be fine at his hand, and for that at least Yuina was thankful.[break][break]
"Des, angel, promise that you won't fight until we're better, okay? We're going to be okay, and together we'll make sure this doesn't happen again," Yuina offered, she couldn't stand to hear her angel so pained, calling herself stupid with so much ire... Her eyes lifted to meet Doug's though as he moved passed her bed, and there was a small relief that she felt in spite of the pain that wracked her body as she watched the pink scales glitter into the sheets of her bed. She wasn't going to stop him from taking care of Desiree first, she would have told him the same thing in any case.

One by one as the robbers and their Pokemon were detained, Yuina's own Pokemon relented and stood down, but still remained to keep an eye on things. The Houndoom that caused a lot of the trouble still barked and snarled, unwilling to stand down, but Asu the Garchomp flexed his scythes and glowered, daring the canine.[break][break]

Where Yuina was making the attempt to be kind and empathetic to the situation, help was help in any facet, she was at least thankful for the apology... Surely the woman had to understand what putting herself in a situation like that could accomplish? The situation itself wasn't dire necessarily, but if she inserted herself into another, much more official situation in the future, with the wrong officials around...[break][break]
"Mmm, just be a bit more careful in the future? These guys weren't going to be much in the way of the region's greatest threat but...," Yuina paused, she would hate to think what would happen if she crossed paths with some of the truly dangerous people she herself had already encountered...[break]
"There's just really dangerous things out there. No sense in getting needlessly hurt," she offered, and she could leave it at that truly. No need to go into any grueiling detail.[break][break]
"A cop? Oh no, I'm not a cop," Yuina almost laughed, the very idea was laughable. She wasn't cut out to be a cop, not in the slightest. Dealing with Pokemon dangerous or otherwise was much more her speed.[break]
"I'm a Ranger, we work close enough with the authorities in general though that it wasn't out of the question for a handful of us to be assigned to this situation," she returned, turning only just to show her blue armband and badge, her moniker of being part of the organization. Needed to have it visible for legal purposes after all.

Following the Lady Crane through the corridors of her space, Yuina was almost homed by the room they found themselves in. She half expected to hear the Chimecho chiming in the near distance, the ocassional creek of the river's water wheel in the village center... It was Johtonian, but the similarity was there.[break][break]
"Oh, uhm, I guess that makes me feel a bit better... I wasn't sure how common it was to come with another fortune... Or if it wasn't customary, or acceptable," Yuina returned, at least she wasn't upset with the notion, she would have hated to already start things off on the wrong foot. Or she could have at least hoped that Lady Crane would have refused the session.[break][break]
"Tea would be wonderful, thank you."

Andrea Vaneau

Yuina gestured for Andrea to take one of the chairs on the other side of her desk while she too sat at her own chair, careful to keep from jostling the desk too much. The book was just as fragile as the egg that Andrea carried with her, perhaps even moreso...[break][break]
"Sinnohism is one of the most widely studied traditions in regards to philosophy and religion because of the culture's ties to the myths and legends that are known to shape the Region," Yuina began, there were many other cultures and religions that focused on a beginning and how things came to be. But due to Sinnoh's theology of the "Creation Trio" and other beings of legend, it was one of the larger studies.[break][break]
"Studies of Sinnohism believe that there is a natural order, a path or road, that allows all things to exist in a natural curvature of time and space. This path is said to be the origin of all power and all creation," she detailed, glancing down to the page of the book she had started with, first reading aloud in careful, ancient Hisuian.[break][break]
"This is the cosmic power that creates the universe, saves the good and punishes the wicked...."[break]
"Essentially, they believe that this path is the power that created the universe, and dictates the way nature moves along and how living things grow and decline in relation to this cosmic path," Yuina described.

Eris Halla

Looking out to the sea of Wooper, Yuina smiled at the gaggle of blue faces that waddled around as she contemplated the camera in her hands. One Wooper, her own perhaps, was splashing in a shallow puddle and playing with the mushy sand of the beach, tossing up small Mud Bombs and watching them splash back down into the sand.[break][break]
"Refuse to buy you dinner? Has he before," Yuina laughed.[break]
"I couldn't imagine it, with how much he cares about you, how much he cares about all of his friends here," she mentioned. He joked a lot, sure, and had a good bit of sass in him, but he cared so much and cared so deeply, it was palpable every time he spoke about his friends in any capacity.[break][break]
Watching the ripple of the water in the distance, the sunlight reflecting off of each dip in the surface, Yuina felt the camera again in her hands, turning it over in her palms.[break]
"What would you take a picture of right now?"
