A ghastly gang came to the rescue. Robin watched, stunned, as the scene unfolded -- it felt like a dream come true as a ghost-enthusiast and as someone who had become a Ranger for the sole purpose of rescuing the reputation of ghosts. To see several ghosts band together to be heroes was exactly -

Was that a little girl?

The girl spoke... like a gengar. Ah. "A zorua and her gang of ghosts, huh? I dig it." Robin nodded assertively with the unearned confidence of a fool and their unproven hypothesis that sounded good to them. "Let's kick some voltorb butt!" The 'torbs were rolling around a little disoriented from the shadow work of the girl; one of them had landed harshly like a heavy ball. "Sinistea, let's try a POLTERGEIST!"

Sinsitea obeyed, possessing one of the voltorbs like it was just a large pokeball. She picked it up and tossed it into another voltorb, but the contact between electric pokemon generated a discharge coming towards Robin and the girl alike.

Robin shook her fist at kyle lopez as the wailord usurped her after being head to head. The big wave caused by its passing almost overtook her, but Carracosta held strong. However, she did see the fashionable woman behind her, Leilani Kalawai'a , who couldn't survive the water as well as she did. She huffed. She wanted to get ahead of that wailord, though she also needed to keep her cool.

Carracosta cheered, and Robin regained her mentality. "OK, yeah, you're right. Eye on the prize: keepin' it steady." She stayed the course, not steering aggressively even as she began to feel a little antsy about doing so.

Robin had invited Gwendolyn out to the hot springs. It was to hang out, but there was something else, too. With them both seated in the springs, Robin didn't spare much time at all. "I didn't ask you to come just to sit in hot water," she blurted out quickly. "Um. Something bad is happening. In Hoenn. I think you can see it, too."

Pokemon were in severe survival mode. Odd behaviors were being noted all over the region. Pokemon were stashing more food and making deeper dens. Worse still, there was a major uptick in sick Absol. That was foreboding more than anything. She wanted to ask Gwen a hundred questions about how prepared she was, but she held her tongue. She wanted to know if Gwen had noticed it, too.

The scientist was out of the picture, but Robin still needed to find something to do about Type: Null. She had refused when authorities tried to claim it for evidence. She had told them sharply that TN was not evidence of anything they needed to keep track of. Indeed, the lack of humanity - or the betrayal of it, really - that TN represented was not something that got logged into their system or tracked on the chain of custody.

TN was the physical embodiment of hatred and the absence of ethics. She had taken TN to a pokemon cafe to get it some berries; she kept Sinistea by her side, too, so the TN would know Robin treated pokemon well. It had refused to eat. Robin wasn't sure how to coerce it to. The helmet on its head looked painful. She sat with it instead, eating alongside Sinstea and hoping the companionship added something.

A dozen tourists were walking through the street, following a city guide who explained the architecture. Robin wasn't a part of the group, but she had gotten the ping in the Ranger chat that there were angry voltorbs around the city. One sighting had included a video of one pursuing a citizen, but some Munna had put it to sleep before it could explode on the innocent civilian.

Robin turned a corner only to see the group faced with a line of three voltorbs, beelining for the tourists. "Sinistea, tera!" The possessed cup of tea activated her tera shards for the second time, but she didn't turn into stellar. No, Sinsitea became a ground type. "Sin, what-" but a Voltorb struck down with lightning at the group of tourists, and Sinistea floated above the group to eat the electrical attack. "Disperse!" Robin shouted into the crowd.

The tourists scattered, but it was still Robin and Sinistea against three angry, angry voltorbs.

Robin nodded as he described the chaos. Headless torchic hit the nail on the head. She was running all over the region and falling short. It was a miracle that there were no more attacks popping up. "I'm glad it's over," she commented, "but I never know how long it is until something else comes along and-"

She cuts herself off as the woman steps forward for the bundle of medicine that Robin compiled. "Here ya go," she said with the best grin she could muster, "get well soon!" The woman didn't really react beyond taking the medicine. With the bags under her eyes, Robin can't quite blame her. Still, a sigh escaped Robin. "I've only been a Ranger since the end of last summer. I feel like things are just getting... more active, lately. Or is it always like this?" She hoped he had some magic words of wisdom.

Her hot chocolate's peppermint-y aroma called to her, and Robin took a sip far before the drink was at a reasonable temperature, flinching and trying to play it off as nodding her head along to the other Rangers' discussion. "Area Zero had those funky blue ones - Walking Wakes - that were maaaad aggressive." But also cool. She was glad Sasky had liked it so much. Their two trips had been eventful.

She shivered at Mimi's mention of Zubats. "They were everywhere..." She blew on her hot chocolate as Mimi commented on the environment. Chilly? Robin furrowed her brow. Weathered down? She laughed. "Ah, this isn't my place! I still travel constantly, so I just camp out in a tent wherever I am."

She looked around the room meaningfully. The candles lit it up well enough to see each other, but if anyone looked closely, they'd see cracked walls and some bug pokemon in the corners. Straight-faced, Robin said: "This is a haunted house." She took a sip of her hot chocolate before realizing she should elaborate. "I'm trying to see how active the haunting is. You guys don't know the story of 4242 Mist Ave? I could totally tell you guys, if you're not easily scared..." A devious expression came across her face, as she loved ghost stories, but a she offered to tell it, she was completely oblivious to the floating candle behind her head, moved by an unseen force.

The bugs dispersed in the face of Tox's unreasonable volume. Robin was mostly desensitized to it, but she realized too late that Benji hadn't covered his own ears. "Ah - stupid!" She scolded, but Tox had finished his damaging soundwaves by the time she clapped her hands around his ears instead. She clicked her tongue disapprovingly.

"How are you feeling?" She asked, then realized he might not be able to hear her. She moved to stand in front of him, so he could read her lips if needed. "Do you feel any vertigo?" She reached into the pouch at her hip and rummaged for medicine while Tox came up and licked at the Furret, curious of its taste since it was colored just like his favorite berry.

Robin didn't break focus on scrounging up medicine while she pushed Tox back with her leg, a habitual "Knock it off," coming out of her mouth. She pulled the small bottle out and presented it to him with an apologetic smile. "Sorry for the party rockin'. Tox gets real loud, but it's great crowd control."

Ah. Robin understood her goals. It sounded silly out loud, she knew, but she had really done it for the same reason. It was such a powerful driving force, wanting the world to be a better place. She wanted people to stop fearing ghosts and kicking them out of natural habitats, and she was sure such a thing would improve the world. "I totally get it," she said, feeling sentimental. "You're in good company." Snorlax huffed in agreement as they came to the mouth of the town.

"The milk tea place beside the medical center literally has the most delicious cherri flavor ever," Robin gushed as they approached the medical center. "We can get some tea and see what missions are nearby your place. If you've been unpacking... it sounds like you need a housewarming gift. Do you like ugly things? There's this misshapen Teddiursa statue at this shop in Mauville that hasn't sold for weeks, and..." Robin continued gabbing as they reached the medical center, eager to have a new Ranger ally.

The walk to town is filled with revelations. "Elodie," she repeats, testing how it feels in her mouth. "I haven't seen ya around before." Mun huffs as they walk, confirming. "Not a ranger ranger, hm? I think we can fix that. I've been to enough trainings myself to know how to tell people what to do."

She laughed. "No, but really, I've helped a lot of baby rangers. You can always come to me for help. What'd ya join for?" She joined to have an excuse to leave home while making the world safer for ghosts. But she had met a wide variety of rangers. Town crept closer, reminding Robin that she was actually peckish.

"No!" She ducked as a Froakie hopped past her at wicked speeds. She recovered slowly, barely getting to see the blur that was CIAN MAHER has he passed her. The infinity energy was absolutely giving an advantage. Though, Robin was determined not to regret her decision to bring a regular schmegular pokemon.

She patted Carracosta's head as he tried to keep pace. "It's ok, big guy. We're still doing good. They'll all make mistakes up here, bet." Her slow and steady philosophy had kept her in good placing. She had gotten to fifth and held it for a while, so she was confident they could recover and redeem themselves. She looked at Leilani Kalawai'a right ahead of her; if she could pass this gal, she would be a little closer to first for the finish line...
