"it's the long sneasel, espy!"

priam points at the sneasler swarm, navigating through jagged pass haphazardly.

his espeon, on the other hand, forces himself to take the lead, steering the path his trainer was taking free from the mochi that littered the area. they saw the effects of it, and the espeon doesn't want any of it affecting his trainer.

"long sneasel, long sneasel..."

priam hums his little song as he snags an empty ball from his pockets, scratching its surface with his newly manicured nails. it chips against the pokeball's hull unbeknown to him when he throws it at the swarm.

priam takes out his braviary again.

"i'll have my pokemon attack it from one side then," he tells sage. "and then your pokemon can take it out with a hit on the back once its attention is on braviary."

he points towards the sky, which the braviary follows.

it takes a sharp turn upwards, reaching the clouds with high speeds. the next moment, it dives. its arrival startles the walking wake, who turns to the braviary's direction.

a shadow sneak allows it to sink into the shadows, appearing on the walking wake's other side for a strike. it exposes its back to their direction for an open critical hit.

it might be someone else's fetish, but it isn't priam. besides, he doesn't even know that it can be seen as a sexual thing since it's unusual for someone who doesn't spend a lot of time on the weird side of the internet.

"it had this friend too. i think it's called hoopa. that's the one that brought the paradox pokemon around here."

he looks at the crystals all around them.

"but i guess they still would appear even if hoopa didn't bring them. this place is full of these crystals, holy."

priam swallows, but he understands. the dust subsides eventually, giving his shroomish visuals.

"leech seed, shroomy."

the pokemon starts shooting small seeds that germinate on contact, wrapping its roots on the already small pokemon. not only does it sap their strength, but it also weighs them down with how small they are.

"that should make them easy targets, right?"

at the end of the day, his shroomish doesn't have enough power to actually kill one. at least nikkari was equipped with pokemon that can do the job.

"oh, yeah," priam premises his speech. "we were fighting kyurem like bam, bam, pow! and then someone made this big ditch on the ground."

it wasn't the highlight of the fight, but priam would recount it if the conversation swings back to the kyurem fight.

"then it summoned a bunch of these robot horses or something. you know, like terrakion and coballion and virizion?"

he specifically mentions pokemon belonging to the likes of the elite four and the champion because it's going to look good in his resume. he doesn't mention the fact that other people were one-shotting these pokemon as well.

"heh, i fought those too."

"go shroomish! distract them while i pilfer their pokeballs from these guys!"

the shroomish isn't sure of what to do. there's only so much a pokemon like itself can do, but it goes for the offensive, blowing everything up around it with seed bomb.

each explosion blows up the ground, causing the dirt to cloud up.

priam returns to nikkari with a report. "they don't have pokeballs with them," he complains. "looks like we just need to get rid of them."

a beam of hidden power zaps near priam's foot, causing him to jump.

"what the-"

each unown starts firing off their attacks indiscriminately when they cannot see their targets.

"yeah!" priam answers enthusiastically, seeing as the newcomer in the region was similarly interested. "they're tougher than normal pokemon, so you might have to work extra, but people 'round here have 'em!"

whether it's for science or for the cool factor of it, priam won't deny that owning one is just great.

"oh, if you head deeper in area zero, i heard you can get one of the better ones," he tells him. "like, they're dinos, but not really a fossil, so that makes them extra cool."

priam's cool tip for today was to point someone who isn't well-versed on hoenn to where the more dangerous stuff was, only because he finds them better. in his defense, it's a pretty good tip.

they were getting less perceptive, priam can tell. even if it was just his imagination, self-confidence punctures through.

priam grabs his shroomish and chucks it at them. upon impact, a much more potent cloud of spores are released by the pokemon. it drops the drk triad agents to the ground, alongside their unown.

he turns to nikkari, smiling wide as he awaits for a reaction from him.

"not bad right?" he says, fishing for a compliment. "that's the patented shroomish bomb where i throw a shroomish and they all die."

they didn't actually die.

he thinks about it, trying to choose his words carefully. in his head, he thinks chu-e was the type of person that would take being called crazy as a compliment.

"definitely crazy!" he answers enthusiastically. "if you were my type, i'd say hot too!"

he's sucking up.

unfortunately, priam isn't too fond of people who gave him traumatizing experiences, even if it was just from secondhand stories from other rocket members during their time in kanto.

"no, no, no!" he tries to argue. "i can't do that!"

his voice is tinted with a worry out of respect rather than sarcasm. he looks genuinely concerned, and particularly interested, about the way chu-e can eat dirt and snack on shards of crystal.

"i promise i won't judge! i'm literally interested!"

he pumps both himself and chu-e up, suddenly supportive of the terror of kanto that he was fearing just moments ago.

they were trained to take out avatars, but...

"we aren't avatars, so that means they can't take us on!"

he wants to shout, but his voice had been muted the moment nikkari had the suggestion. he follows after his lead, even after what he said. if they can defeat them, it's because they aren't avatars, which still means he was right.

priam takes out his shroomish, one of his most unassuming pokemon.

"we can do this then." he lets his shroomish use spore, which priam fans out to the direction of the grunts with a leaflet about area zero. "they'll just think it's pollen season."

it won't be as potent as if used at close ranged, but being drowsy is good enough.

they sneak around, trying to find the source of the smoke, and indeed find a paradox pokemon.

the blue scales and the purple mane suggests that they found the water-type out of the three kinds that roam area zero. it seemed to be scorching berries with water.

"what do they call this guy again?" he asks no one in particular. "walking wake or something, right?"

it appeared on a game once, and people coined its name as that. together, the two of them watch it from a distance.

"how would you like to approach this?" he asks sage.
