so her first job coming back to hoenn was to stand guard? not.. exactly what she expected (like there was anything to expect, in the first place).

she plays with strands of blue between her fingers, only dropping her gaze from the garchomp that towered over, on guard, to glance at her ob partner. "not really, no." she responded, beginning to lean back onto the wall. her lips curl into a smile, hearing his latter words "doesn't sound like i need to worry, then."

hues of gold glance towards the city, as the few street lights began to flicker on to illuminate a soon, darkened sky. "it's been a while since i've been in hoenn" she comments, "i'm relieved to see that not too much has changed."

she tries to ease the nervousness with a slight, but patient and warm smile on her lips. it was fine if it wasn't anything substantial: she needed any help she could with working with hoenn again, especially after finally sorting out internal affairs with devon. though the corporation had no political power, it was still a large contribution to the region's economy - save for silph, a group she'd rather not touch on too much. [break][break]

"thank you, kyle." her voice chimes. her tone was a contrast to the cold edge she had earlier, though that was instinctive. [break][break]

speaking of cold, the warm smile transitions to something a bit more anxious or embarrassed - evident by the soft sigh following a bit of the fumble with her fingers.[break][break]

"... i'm sorry if i came off a bit too formal." she says as she takes another sip from her drink. she was never great with people, and she prayed that she didn't put him.. too on edge, earlier. or if she set things to be too awkward? "casual socializing isn't a strong suit of mine.." she sheepishly admits from behind the cup.

needless to say, she was taken aback - solely because of the casual display he let out without any signs of restraint. [break][break]

she's left momentarily baffled, how was she supposed to respond? formalities demand her to be strict, direct and stern with her words. the purpose of this meeting demands to her to keep a levelled mind, and she was tempted to do exactly that. in response to his outburst, she only raises her hand to gently clear her throat into the cusp of her hand. it wasn't a good place for her to break character, especially not when she wassupposed to be the pillar and foundation of the corporation since her brother's departure. [break][break]

unfortunately, this was overridden at a couple more words from the young man across the table. [break][break]

oh, how she wanted to scold him right now. even if it would be uncouth for her, considering their relations and standing. truly, she was caught up in a dilemma for agreeing to meet with him in the first place. "arceus.." she mumbles, softly and under her breath. it wasn't long until the faint hint of a defeated smile creeps up to her lips. her stiff posture began to relax as she leans back into her seat. "if we came to talk about business, that should be the primary topic~.." she chimes, albeit weakly. [break][break]

"i'm sorry," she starts, though the apology is followed with a giggle in response to his latter comment. "things have been hectic, lately. i've been so sucked into this that i forget to turn off the formalities" she says in a jesting tone, even if it was the truth. Her body leans forwards to rest against the edge of the table, and she crosses her legs to get herself comfortable.[break][break]

"speaking of.. what did I say about formalities? i'd say they're pretty important, mmn?"

thank goodness they were able to find something light-hearted to talk about. she was beginning to get worried that her demeanour would put him off, especially when it was supposed to be a date. "he was a gible at the time," she starts, then holding her hands up as though to hold the air like she were holding a chubby little dragon "and he thought that a pipe funnel that was thrown out was an obstacle, so he tried to run through." and as she explains the story, she feels herself chuckling at the image as it reemerges in her head. [break][break]

"pff.. he got stuck, and it took a bit to pull him out. his face was all dirtied and he got so angry~" she muses at the memory. eventually, the drinks arrive and the food come shortly after. the same smile is maintained on her lips as she shared a bit more of the garchomp. honestly: she didn't expect for the date to go so well. if anything, she's relieved that it was beginning to pick up. she points to the bucket of drinks, shaking her head a bit. [break][break]

"... I really insist that you try, and indulge yourself. The bill is on me, so don't worry."

"... Oh, you poor thing.."

she starts, watching the corsola stumble upon the garden. she had half the mind to let the pokemon devour the berries, but she figured that it would only hurt the poor thing even more. instead, she glances to the blissey at her side then tilts her head towards the stumbling and pained pokemon. the large, pink puff ball walks on over with a smile on her face. Daphne does the same, crouching down to the water pokemon's level.

she holds her arms out, trying to beckon the pokemon closer. "it's okay." she reassures, maintaining a soft and warm smile on her face. "you'll be alright. I'll take care of you." she says this, as her blissey began to release her heal pulse. the corsola's wounds began to heal, as did the pain from whatever poison might have been sustained.

it cautiously approaches the trainer, who takes the frightened creature in her arms. she begins to cradle it, as the baby began to cry and whine. "shh, it's okay, now.." she raises a finger to her lips, trying to hush it. "we'll take you back to a pokemon centre, alright?" she asks. her blissey continued to let out a heal pulse as the trio left to get it properly treated.

that was certainly some way to reassure her. [break][break]

even though the attempt was poor and moot, she could appreciate the effort. if there was anything she's seen or heard, it was that he was a generally quiet guy. that said, suddenly being called out by her must have been a surprise. to top it off, she couldn't help but to feel.. guilty? guilt was close, but she couldn't say for sure. it was more like she was burdening him; first with questions about her brother, and now her concern bleeding out from not knowing the whereabouts. [break][break]

she smiles and shakes her head, waving her hand dismissively. her lips curl into a small smile as she giggles softly. ".. i'm sure it's something he'd have liked to do. i will still be trying to search for him or get into contact," she pauses, tilting her head slightly "so i can give him an earful for putting me in his position~" she tries to lighten the mood, though she knows her attention at being carefree was transparent. but that said, she was still feeling just a bit bad for throwing this onto him. [break][break]

with a deep breath and soft sigh, she picks up her coffee in her hands. "if i recall, you're part of the league, aren't you?" she asks, now trying to change the subject. "i've been trying to get into contact with more people to talk about devon ties. would it be possible for you to connect me?" [break][break]

though she would like to do it herself, she already had her hands full.

sometimes, it got suffocating.

the expectations, the pressure, the stress and the sheer pace of everything. she never enjoyed this; she never worked well in these situations, yet she always found herself escaping them unscathed. this situation, however, was one she performed the poorest on. even then, he stayed to listen to her mess and stick with her in spite of her awkward communication: and there were no words she could use to express her gratitude.

even if he seemed to enjoy teasing her for the sake of teasing her.

heck, he admitted it! she's only able to barely compose herself, as she properly swallows down the gulp of eggnog - the same that she nearly choked on - before groaning softly. "d-don't laugh..!" she raises her voice, only slightly due to her own embarrassment. if her expression didn't speak volumes, then her actions did; what with her raising the mug up, slightly, to hide her face behind it and between her hands.

she stays like that while listening to his words. indeed, she's thought about it before. it would be a good time for her to at least put in a bit of effort to ind a spouse, partner, boyfriend-- someone. she lies if she says it wasn't a bit lonely; especially with the sudden loss of three family members (all due to lost contact). she hums in acknowledgment.

then has to do a double take on his last question. a date? with her? he, aramis highlander, was asking her on a date? "a--" she starts, as the words are caught in her throat when she perks her head up to look at him, eyes widened. "you.. want to go on a date with me?" she was bewildered; but she couldn't say she didn't see something like this coming. something o the sort, if it wasn't leaving her be--

ahem.

she takes a moment to think on that, turning her eyes back to the eggnog. though it was a short pause, she eventually nods her head and lifts the mug to her lips once again. "well.. i think that would be nice."

so.

she was internally dead. internally, indeed. enough for her to turn red, enough for her to flush and try a feeble attempt at staying composed for the sake of face. god, she could only imagine how unprofessional she'd look right now. thankfully, he seemed to be enjoying the moment with her; albeit at her own expense. but, at the same time, she'd be a sore liar if she admitted to feeling discomfort around this - solely because she didn't particularly mind it.

nevertheless, she tries her best to maintain composure. behind her golden locks, she took a moment to collect herself - even if said composure began to show cracks and crumbled at his fingers locking with her own. gosh.. in hindsight, she probably looked like a middle schooler who had never touched a guy.

probably accurate, though.

upon receiving the eggnog, she takes her hand from his to gently rest against her heart. indeed, she felt it racing enough for her to take a deep breath and calm herself down. there was some effectiveness to it, and it acted as a padding when he decided to move closer to her. she made no effort to move back, however, as she grasped the eggnog and brought the mug to her lips.

whereas he was fixated on her eyes, she tried to avoid contact in the case of her heart not being able to handle so much in a short span of time. rather, she keeps her gaze on the liquid resting in the mug. "it's that obvious..?" she smiles, slightly, while curling her fingers against the drink. "I was involved in an arranged marriage, but we're more friends than anything." so, admittedly, she didn't consider it to be a 'relationship'. any 'dates' they'd have gone on would have been hanging out, to talk, or them vouching for the other when asked.

now when he questions the present, she nearly chokes on her eggnog. it was only enough to make her take a moment to process before she can maintain herself. "wh-wha--" she starts, the red flush getting to her cheeks once again "r-right now..? there's no one in particular.."
