What's taking the cruise so long?

When Erin settled for a lower-end cruise, she did not expect it to offer such a poor service that it could be late. There's a handful of other passengers waiting in line, all annoyed at either the wait or the heat or both. Erin's sun hat, too, does little to diminish the burning feeling of a hot midsummer day.

Looking down, she notices her meowth to be in an even worse state. He looks restless, his whiskers dangling as he looks from left to right for something. To avoid the heat, he runs towards the shadow offered by a tall tree, caring little about the pokémon currently occupying that space.

"are you okay there, young one?"

it takes him a moment to notice how restless it looks. he can only assume it's from waiting in line in this horrible heat. he lowers himself to a knee and offers it his bottle of water. the cap is already off.

"here, drink some of this."

Is the little bugger really making trouble for a complete stranger? Of course he is. Erin steps aside to go after him.

Meanwhile, the meowth takes the man's bottle gratefully. This mister is so much nicer than his own trainer. Despite being so rich, she hasn't bothered to buy him any water yet! What if he got sick from insolation? After having a good gulp of water, his paws point towards his leg as if to ask if the man is also okay after the collision.

The meowth's ears perk up when he notices a pokémon as small as he is hiding behind the very legs he'd collided against a moment ago. He offers a pleased mewl as greeting, before turning back to the man's voice. Huh? 24K's trainer? Can't this man adopt him instead?

"I'm so sorry," comes Erin's voice. "I hope 24K hasn't been giving you trouble." The meowth looks away, as if by postponing eye contact he could escape his eventual return to her.

Her alolan meowth, behaving well? There's something about this man's affirmation that doesn't ring true to her, but she simply eyes the meowth in question. The presence of an axew is completely ignored.

Mention of the cruise has her unconsciously looking back at the queue. The space where she stood before has been by now occupied by the next person. How troublesome. "I was, and I really must get going back. Thank you again. Excuse us." Though, before leaving, she remembers to quickly introduce herself and grab his name.
