Belle had been asked to mega evolve for this task, which she thinks is an excess, but then again her owner wasn't exactly known to go small. One would have thought that she at least would be in no real need of an extra attire, like so many of the other fairy types are. Such a thought would be erroneous. The gardevoir's long, flowing gown has become wider, puffier, like a proper ballgown. Over it, a frilly apron has been placed and tied at the back. To finish the ensemble, a matching headdress adorns her head.

She's not so sure what type of clientele her maid outfit would attract, but she's unfortunately not the one in charge here.

Ah, speaking of which: another one. The bell chimes just as the gardevoir is collecting her thoughts. She makes a curtsy, smiles and doesn't offer any cliché welcome phrases only because she's spared by a language barrier.

The lucario's steps resemble a fight, rather than a dance. Even though the choreography he follows is the same as the other pokémon's, there is a calm yet menacing quality to his every movement. One step forward, one step back. He isn't an expert at martial arts for nothing. His open palms move like the currents of a flowing river until they drop down the air in front of him, slowly, like a time bomb waiting to go off.

After switching places with another dancer, his movements mirror those that had been performed before. At some point, they reach a part where the dancers all line up in a diagonal row and each takes their turns at a 'solo' of their own. He may be no professional dancer, but the lucario has to admit he's having quite a bit of fun.

has nothing on this impromptu crobat swarm. The clear cheese-colored moon shatters into pieces before fading into the purple-red of her gengar. His thin line of a smile curves up into a grin.

"Go on, then," she says in a whisper. The look on her face is uncharacteristically doting as the gengar turns around and floats higher up to meet one of the bats.

As if the shinx's mood hadn't dampened after being reprimanded, an accurately aimed thread of silky and definitely sticky web is thrown at his face. He jumps back, aghast, which gives the offending spinarak time to take off. A hit and run, Erin thinks in amusement.

Ingot is covered in a full-body suit and not only the measly protective gloves that the League has provided. They tried, she supposes. The meowth finds the suit a bit uncomfortable, but she understands her owner only had her safety in mind when she forced it on her.

Erin doesn't particularly care about the wild anorith, but she doesn't think it appreciates being stepped on. Not accidentally, and most likely not on purpose either. More than anything, it's bad manners she doesn't plan to let the shinx keep. Imagine if he ended up climbing on her counters after this.

again, and at this point she's suspecting he has replaced 24k's toy with the wild pokémon showing up on their way. Erin doesn't really mind much. If anything, she's wondering why it didn't do the same with her and her gengar upon meeting them. A mystery to be grateful for.

Erin is still playing with her shiny new shinx when the wild anorith approaches. Her gengar was left on standby and is currently preoccupied by some droplets falling to the ground. Which is odd, honestly. It hasn't rained in a few days. His trainer turns in time to watch the small whirlpool quickly forming in the anorith's mouth. She's about to pull away and bring her shinx with her, but a well-timed

takes care of it first.

She's a little too excited at the offer. "Really? I'd truly be honored." Erin has never been all that fond of superfluous parties, an unfortunate side-effect of having grown in rich circles, but her solo ventures in Hoenn have changed the way she sees them. They're a necessary evil for her professional growth. Admittedly, having gorgeous jewels or shoes to show off in those parties is one of her silent comforts.

The gesture catches her off-guard, and a tinge of color rushes to cheeks already flushed from alcohol. "Fine. You can pick next time," she answers with a small pout. Directed either at his quip or at him as an entirety? She attempts only half-heartedly to superpose the underlying promise.

Even after he's gone, Erin remains on her spot on top of her mantine for another minute or two. It's only once she remembers her porygon2 is still floating around near the pool, by literally catching a glimpse of it, that she forces herself up and out of the water.

The golden glow gives it away immediately. Erin's eyes glow, in turn, with the same intensity. It looks exactly like— She catches herself, backtracks a bit. It's a pretty color for a shinx, eventual luxray. Her obstinacy with finding a shiny finally bore fruit, and she had no intention of letting it go.

"Mars," she calls, and this time it's a warning to stay back. She'll be doing this herself.

Slow, careful steps approach the wild pokémon. A toy bounces back and forth against the breeze. It's actually for a small cat. 24K's, her alolan meowth's, but the shinx is so small it probably would work regardless. Erin wasn't so sure she could sneak in a proper enrichment toy for a full-fledged lion to the safari (she kind of wanted to avoid bribing the warden), so it's good that this one is still small.

As expected, the shinx's full attention is given to the toy in her hand. She smiles at the reaction, briefly thinking back to her childhood, to when she used to play games with her meowth that could actually be considered games and not... psychological torture. The thought almost makes her sigh. How nostalgic.

The shinx would obviously say yes. Distracting felines with toys in motion is as foolproof as Pavlovian conditioning. When the shinx waddles over to her, Erin's arms are ready to take it in.

Erin only assigns a moment to the shinx, as has become the norm by now for any encounter. Her inspection of the wild pokémon results in the same answer: it's not the right. Indeed, its fur is not of the golden sheen she wants. Besides, the color of its hind legs reveals it to be a female.
