Erin arrives early that night. If she was going to execute a jewelry heist, she had to make sure that everything went down smoothly, from beginning to end, and that of course required preliminary surveillance of the targeted store and its surroundings.

It's ironic. A year— hell, just a month ago, she'd find a sort of guilty pleasure in watching crime and heist movies.

The young woman wanders Mauville's stores like any other shopper. Blending in is the easy part: she stops by a bookstore and a café and the jewelry store itself, eyes ever curious, always watching. She even goes as far as to purchase a necklace that catches her attention at the jewelry store. After all, she would be recovering her investment that same night.

Preparations out of the way, she waits at the very top floor of the city for her assigned partner to arrive. Her fingers run across the necklace she'd purchased in an idle way, simply to pass the time. From her vantage point, she can see exactly when the establishments below begin to close their doors.

The day may be almost over for most of those hardworking sales clerks, but for these two Team Rocket members it's only getting started.

The indoor pond would have made for a lovely piece of artificial outdoors landscaping, if it actually had any fish swimming inside. As it is right now, though, it's a huge deterrent to renting an apartment in Mauville City, be it the Hills or anywhere else.

"You're telling me your security's been letting someone sneak in just to steal the pond's magikarp." Erin arches an eyebrow at the real estate agent, unimpressed. She may not have said this expressly, but the spaces between lines let ink spill through.

It's not until she mentions a reward being offered by the city hall to whoever caught the magikarp thief that Erin deigns the woman worthy of her attention again.

When Erin declares she's taking matters into her own hands, the woman proceeds to go on about how dangerous the task has proven to everyone who'd tried thus far and how the mayor insists that two people partner up. Whatever. Erin calls out to the next closest person she sees.

"Hey, you. Wanna catch this thief for fifty poké? Lady here's paying."

She parks right where the fenced area starts. The engine provides a rattling backdrop for wild Pokémon as it's turned down to a low hum and then to nothing. Erin doesn't wait for the side stand to be fully lowered before she clicks one of her Pokéballs open. It's all part of a smooth, seamless process.

The gengar grins from ear to ear before letting the shadows envelope him.

Finally, the young woman slides her sunglasses up and props herself up against the saddle of the motorcycle. It's a long way until the Safari Zone still, but who knows? She's heard of very interesting sightings in this area too.
