Erin arrives early that night. If she was going to execute a jewelry heist, she had to make sure that everything went down smoothly, from beginning to end, and that of course required preliminary surveillance of the targeted store and its surroundings.

It's ironic. A year— hell, just a month ago, she'd find a sort of guilty pleasure in watching crime and heist movies.

The young woman wanders Mauville's stores like any other shopper. Blending in is the easy part: she stops by a bookstore and a café and the jewelry store itself, eyes ever curious, always watching. She even goes as far as to purchase a necklace that catches her attention at the jewelry store. After all, she would be recovering her investment that same night.

Preparations out of the way, she waits at the very top floor of the city for her assigned partner to arrive. Her fingers run across the necklace she'd purchased in an idle way, simply to pass the time. From her vantage point, she can see exactly when the establishments below begin to close their doors.

The day may be almost over for most of those hardworking sales clerks, but for these two Team Rocket members it's only getting started.

The young man's steps would echo amid the nightlife mauville city's tamer districts. The rendezvous wasn't difficult to locate, but certain circumstances brought him to a delay. A hand was raised partly with a humble wave, trying to get the woman's attention as he sounded his greeting.

"Hello, hello!"

The greeting comes out suddenly, breaking the silence almost immediately with the cheerful tone of his words. It wouldn't concern anyone though, as far as he was concerned. The area was almost deserted for the most part, night time finally taking place and every individual made preparations to retire for the day.

He doesn't know too much of her personally, but he knows of her face.

"You seem happy," he says, not even bothering to read her expression. Small talk is prioritized over discussions for the heist.

He goes to share her view. It would be a shame if chaos were to disrupt the otherwise peaceful atmosphere of the place. The subject at question would soon come into his peripheral. He judges its architecture from the outside, only imagining what it would look within. Probably set up with something like expensive security systems, he muses.

She's not happy, but she also doesn't feel like bothering to correct him. "So do you." Erin doesn't have to look at him to know it's fake. They had more important things to do than engage in petty talk, however, like for example rob a jewelry store, so she goes straight to the point.

While waiting, she'd been replaying her plan in her mind, so that when her partner arrived, she could go over it as quickly and hassle-free as possible. Her hand leaves the smooth surface of the necklace, and she uses it to point towards one of the surveillance cameras below.

"You've noticed them. Fourteen cameras on the first floor; five more facing down from the second. This is the only floor that doesn't have cameras on it. I'm guessing the old mayor liked sitting back and watching his creation from up here." She shrugs at this last part. It's an educated guess, but not one she'd care too much to confirm.

"Now, I have my porygon stationed and ready to hack into the surveillance system with pre-recorded footage." Sure enough, her trustworthy pokémon is waiting inside the phone of the security guard on duty. "We'll have ten, maybe fifteen minutes until our cover is blown. The only thing I haven't figured out yet is our escape. Maybe if we had a decoy, or a method of flight... I'm open to ideas."

Priam sits on it for a while, staring upwards for inspiration, before going back on Erin.

"I have a Zoroark for a decoy."

He picks up a picture of kim cole-essam from his pockets, crumpled, but nonetheless recognizable. Priam's Zoroark has a lot of other faces he can copy, but the Raz generator had chosen this face. He had taken the picture out of Lucas Lane 's belongings on one of the occasions he tried to surprise visit the weird Glalie they found. He has been meaning to give it back but had not found the opportunity to do so.

"I'unno who this is, but he looks like he can be a decoy."

He turns the picture around for Erin to see. The hand reaches forward, allowing for her to take it for a closer look if she chooses to do so. Even before she could comment on it, Priam quickly adds to his suggestions.

"I got a Arcanine too. Knows Extreme Speed so we can go super fast if we need to."

Looking over the establishment of their choosing, he makes mental notes of the mapping of its surroundings. The layout of the city was pretty simple, but there were escape routes he could see them taking with a large Pokemon such as his Arcanine.

"Just tell me what to do and I'll do it."

A zoroark; quite an interesting pokémon to own. Quite rare, too. Even back in their native Unova, she'd only seen a couple of them. She's impressed, but doesn't let herself be too impressed.

Erin gives the photograph a good look from where she stands. She doesn't move to take it, though. Whatever reasons her associate had to keep the picture of a man he claims not to know in his possession, she would let him keep to himself. The man depicted is handsome—he has the looks of someone who uses his charisma to his advantage often. He also looks like a law-abiding citizen whose reputation may go down the drain after their scheme.

"Perfect. I'll have my kirlia waiting for your zoroark to teleport them and my porygon back to us. We can regroup in the forested area east of the city." As if reading their minds, the psychic type materializes next to them. Her instructions had already been issued in premeditation, but she had to be updated with the slight change of plans.

An arcanine might reduce the leeway time they had to take as many jewels as they could, by virtue of its size. They had to fit everything in and be on their way before the cameras went back to normal. Still, it's better than nothing. She can work with this.

Pale eyes turn to the clock conveniently positioned in the center of the city. 00:44 is ticking close to the next minute.

A smirk goes through his expression. There was no need for one to ask him the question. His enthusiasm with a lot of things extends to work. The thought of the rewards were enough to make him giddy with excitement.

"I'm always ready."

He stares at the guard, and at the security cameras that would soon be rendered ineffective, from above. Their escape route was readied as well. Everything concerning the heist was seemingly ironed out. All he needed to do was to wait for her to bring them there. Priam knew that he won't have the self-discipline to contain himself if he was the first one there.

"Lead the way, boss! I'll take the rear. Leave the clean up of our traces to me!"

The following events all happen in quick succession.

One moment they're standing on the roof, a chilly wind sweeping past their faces. Each of them would feel a light pull as the kirlia

teleports

the entire party right next to the jewelry store. The wall sheds a convenient concealing shadow over them. Another poke at the space-continuum from the kirlia, and she's gone.

An alolan meowth is quick to take the kirlia's place next to them. One paw extended before him, he presents a set of keys to his trainer. Erin takes them at the same time she calls the last of her pieces to work.

[break][break]

The gengar is in his element. Shadows surround him wholly, allowing him free reign of where to go and how to go about it. He hops from shadow to shadow, phases through the shadows beyond the door with ease. His task is to search for the in-house security alarm and disable it.

"It's probably at the back," she guides.

[break][break]

An idea comes to Erin while she watches her gengar go in search of the alarm system's main control panel.

"I want our culprit to be seen around. Maybe have him pass by the surveillance room. Casually walk by, ignore the guard's orders, lead him astray. You know the drill."

he zoroark is released from its confinement. the picture is immediately shown at the pokemon. the dark-type immediately knows what to do afterwards and changes his appearance to fit the one in the picture with a puff of smoke.

"the task should be easy enough for you. "

the zoroark does as what he was told. going under the guise of the league official in the picture, the dark-type casually strolls from the entrance as the guard stands stunned at the personality more than the audacity of their actions. he finally speaks up to stop him, but the zoroark pays him no heed.

the zoroark knows of the protocols. his eyes searched for the locations of each camera, and upon finding a blind spot, transforms into his original form. he marks him with a blow using foul play, making sure the guard is knocked out, but not dead. the guard falls, while the zoroark still was hidden from the camera.

the thud is heard from the outside. a smile forms on his lips as he turns to erin for a reaction from her.

Straight up knocking the guard out was not originally in her plans, but she supposes it works just as well. Erin notices the young man looking at her, but pays him no heed. What was he expecting, a pat on the back? Yeah, right.

Mars finds the panel shortly after. It's closed, of course, but he brushes one of his hands over the top of the enclosure and finds a key there. The lock turns, leaving a complex jumble of wires on top of a circuit card in sight. He repeats his trainer's words in his mind: plug in the chip she's given him first, unplug the power, then unplug the battery.

He returns to the front room victorious. Once he's certain that his trainer has seen him return, he vanishes into another shadow. Seconds later, he materializes again right in front of the in-store camera.

Later, when the store owner checked his private footage of the night's events, he'd only see a sludge of purple and a Cheshire smile.

Erin's gloved hand turns the door open. "Go."

They don't have to worry about keeping up appearances inside the store, as long as they don't make too much noise. Erin's meowth starts slashing the locks on each display case, starting from the ones up front: the flashiest ones.

he felt his heart sink for a moment, but he recovers quickly from it. he supposed he was used to it by now, and so pays no mind to the disappointment. regardless, he doesn't allow it to put a damper to his current mood.

soon enough, they were inside the premises.

he meets his zoroark inside. a playful ruffle and a downward push on his head makes the dark-type dispel its illusion and return to its usual form. he hands the pokemon a bag and motions for him to follow him around the store. it wasn't large, but he felt kind of important if he had an assistant or something walking behind him.

"you just hold that, m'kay?"

priam starts on the opposite side from the other rocket. the price doesn't bother him much as he starts to simply grab whatever he can. although they had all the time to choose which ones they were taking, priam's brazen nature shows itself when he needlessly takes everything without being finicky about the ones he puts in the bag.
