Her laughter is given out freely at this state of drunkenness, but she hears every word loud and clear, as if put through a loudspeaker. "Couldn't imagine life without them," she agrees, but there's so much more to it that it physically hurts to think about. "Or without some Glosse earrings to match," she adds cheekily. The back of her hand is placed over her eyes, shielding them from the lowering sun and maybe even from the headache of thinking too much.

Erin turns her head ever so slightly. Just enough to catch a glimpse of the man's profile. "Thanks for indulging me. I had fun." The words are muttered before she can subject them to a second thought. The scotch pong had been a crazy idea. It's not even sunset yet. Right in that moment, though, the only sour taste on her tongue comes from the bite of the whiskey. There's a small smile on her lips that she doesn't realize is there.

"We should get some water," comes as an afterthought moments later. Yet she does nothing to move away, reluctant to leave and return to her daily life.

Well, that's a pokémon she hasn't seen before. If its plump cheeks are anything to go by, though, it's electric type. Nature really seemed to favor cutesy electric pokémon. At any rate, it's not the electric type she's looking for, so that's as far as Erin's attention goes for it.

"What do you think of this one, Mars?" she laughs as a peppy song comes up next. It's one of those silly songs she used to listen to as a teen, which the gengar has listened to one too many times as well, for better or for worse.

They are unnatural, in the almost but not quite inconspicuous way so many of these swarms had been. Kings and queens rampaging in the desert. What are the odds? Erin's musings are kept to herself. A clicking sound signals the manifestation of a pokémon; a spritzee, small and cute and totally not a girl.

He's grumpy, even as he leaves the quiet comfort of his pokéball, about being mistaken for a girl yet again. Thankfully, his masculinity isn't questioned this time. Rather, there's no time to, because there's a swarm of huge nidoqueens dancing in a sea of dust.

"Lure them away," he hears the young woman order, and he does as requested without realizing the suicidal mission being given to him. The sweet aroma he releases would

, which effectively scares some of the galarian slowbros away. it's not enough, though. one of them slips past the warning, either deaf or uncaring, its path certain to end up in a

zen headbutt

against the aggron. He retaliates, every part of his body as

double-edged

as a sharpened knife.

The battle continues with another batch of slowbros. She doesn't notice it immediately, but later, back in the hotel room, she'd notice a tiny imperfection in one of Avalon's pristinely polished arms.

Just as she feared; a righteous hero wannabe with the typical hero wannabe speech. Erin doesn't really listen to about half of it, her focus regained only when he admits to having made the mask himself. Not surprising, actually. Costume shops probably don't make masks his size. Then again, some adults out there must be into this sort of superhero roleplay. "I must have missed the class memo." Such inclinations are not for her to judge, at any rate.

Perhaps she shouldn't have mentioned it. Would he even have noticed it, if not for her comment? Realization dawns on him and, before she knows it, he's running back the way they arrived. Erin only has a chuckle to offer to the empty air.

The scolipedes, though naturally beautiful creatures, cannot be properly appreciated while
